Episode 2: My Beloved Sister

“I’m back.”

“Welcome home, Nii-san.”

I almost burst into tears when my little sister greeted me like usual.

“I just thought now that you grew up to be such a fine girl.”

“What’s with that all of a sudden?”

“That my sister is such a good girl.”

“It’s just facts. Rather, please wash your hands already. I have baked cookies.”

“Wait, seriously! Then I’ll wash them right away.”

I entered the inner rooms following Karen, who returned to the living room with her long silver hair.

My sister is not my real sister.

Although, that doesn’t mean she my stepsister.

My family relationship is a little complicated, or rather, something that’s making it complicated.

And that’s my father. All I can say is that … he’s an explorer wandering abroad.

One day, when he suddenly came home, he asked my mother and me to take care of this child. And while we both were still stunned,

this person again goes off and disappears somewhere someplace again.

I often hear my mother say, ‘Why did I marry a guy like that.’ But somehow, when I looked at her, always smiling happily, I thought it was probably all okay.

I washed my hands, gargled, and sat on the chair in the living room.

“Yes, please enjoy your meal. Nii-san is fine with cocoa, right?”

“…in ice cream.”

“I know.”

“I’m sorry for this every time.”

“You can’t say it better.”

She seems angry, but it’s not like that in real life because this was like her usual way of interacting. While constantly spitting out poison.

“Speaking of which, today…”

Since I’ve just come across a topic to discuss, I start talking about what happened earlier today.

“…Nii-san”

“What?”

“Nii-san, why are you always sticking yourself in such a dangerous situation every time?”

Even though she’s my little sister, I just don’t really understand her sometimes.

Sometimes this sort of thing just happens from back then, but what does this even mean?

Even if I asked her, she would just reply, ‘Please stay like that forever, Nii-san.’

“Are they delicious? … Today’s cookies.”

“They are delicacies as always.”

“Is that so.”

Saying that she laughed meaningfully.
