The Fake Hero Goes to Academy - Chapter 4- Warriors and Mages
There was a fundamental difference between Mages and Warriors.
Except for the fact that one uses spells to fight against their foes, and one uses their physical might there were more differences as well.
There was no basic prejudice against warriors. In this day and age, a Warrior is as valuable as a Mage.
In ancient times, Warriors used to act like the meat shield for the magicians so that they could perform their wizardry and shoot down the enemy. But nowadays, with the development of Martial Arts, the amount of Warriors striving in military and other battle-oriented jobs; has grown dramatically.
However, if something was still being carried on from the ancient period, then it was the fact that a Warrior needs a Mage and vice versa.
If a Warrior can perform his sword arts then he needs some time to condense his aura, regain his focus, and release the attack. Until that time, the requirement for a wide variety long ranged spells, increased significantly.
And same goes for Mages, since without proper reinforcement and backup to distract the enemy, they couldn’t chant magic and aim it perfectly.
Therefore, it was necessary for every mage and warrior to have a perfect sync with each other so they could bring forth their best and bring their adversary to their knees.

In this academy, every student is admitted through two different routes. Those who strive to become Warrior have to give more practical assessments and the ones walking on the path of magic, have to take several examinations to elaborate their knowledge.
And to form perfect duos, a Warrior is paired up with a Mage based on their proficiency and attributes. The said pair remains together for an indefinite period and perform numerous tasks—like expeditions and such.
Naturally, there are some leftovers who need to either pair up with other leftovers or perform solo. And among one those leftovers, I have joined the team.
Glancing at my neighbor—another leftover—she seemed to be very timid and delicate, to the point where I thought shouting at her might make her piss.
She was wearing glasses, which was actually weird in these days and age, and cowering in a corner of the desk; trying to read her book, without any intention to share it with me.
I could feel that she was glancing in my way at random moments, but since it was not only her, I didn’t pay mind to it. There were several students eyeing me the whole three hours, as I tried to understand what they were teaching in the class.
“Today our topic is the Great Seven Horn Canine, which mainly is found in the Great Sundine forest of North East continent. We have only faced over three until now, and one of those three was defeated by none other than our renowned Hero, Calastor.”
Hearing that name, many gasped and parted their lips in awe. Their eyes sparkled with joy and the little prince at the front seemed to be the most prideful one at the moment.
For everyone around the world, Calastor has become a living legend by now, after ‘he’ defeated the last Devil. Well, good for them. Now they have another living legend to worship.
“Now the question.” The teacher drew a big question mark on the board before he turned to face the students.
“Can someone tell me, what kind of Sword Art, the hero used to slay the Canine?”
I was taken aback by the amount of hand raised. Even my desk mate has raised her arm, albeit weakly.
‘Are they that informed about the Hero?’
Naturally, I remained seated, not wanting to attain any attention from anyone around. However, against my expectations, the teacher skimmed through all those arms and fixated his gaze on me
“You…Pascal. Answer me.”
For once, it was my first day. Secondly, you don’t look too sincere with your job, Professor, with that kind of malice radiating around you.
Truth be told, I knew the correct answer, but what answer everybody knew was not something I was aware of.
The actual battle was seen by none but the Hero’s party and the Hero, so whatever knowledge the general public has received was what the Hero’s party informed them.
If I give some different answer, I might get suspected. And also, concerning this teacher’s demeanor, I guess, even if I spit the correct answer, he would ask another and another one, until I didn’t yield.
So it was decided, “I don’t know, sir.”
The way he snickered and those many students huffed, indicating that this was the best course of action.
“I couldn’t have expected anything more from an orphan like you. Sit down.”
As I sat, he told William to answer.
Standing with his chest pumped, the little prince began,
“The Seven Horned Canine can camouflage and such the Hero’s Party was having a hard time dealing any impactful damage to their foe while maintaining the defenses so they did not end up getting killed by the creature’s poisonous claws and fangs. As such, the responsibility of the team leader increases dramatically. That was why he told each of his team members to gather in one place and make the enemy believe, that they are surrendering. However, it was a mere trap of the Hero, since the time the Canine lowered its guard, the Hero wielded his legendary sword and unfolded one of the strongest attacks, [Eclipse: Single Slash], ending the Canine once and for all.”
The conclusion of the answer was followed by a small applause from the students and a nod of pride from the Professor…
…however, his whole answer was wrong. I never did anything and just used a Forth Fold technique to behead that big pup.
However, naturally, I couldn’t tell them that. The story everyone knows is the story that the Hero’s party tells them. And of course, they couldn’t bring up a bland story where the hero one shot killed the monster.
And considering how most people are aware of the actual Hero’s power level, the real story would be anything but believable.

[During Break]
Students began to group up with their friends. Since it was lunch break, some of them began to exit the class as well.
I glanced at my deskmate and found that she was looking at the people with a timid expression, hesitant about whether to approach them or not.
“You can just go and talk to them.” My words made her flinch, before she shook her head.
“They….they won’t like me. I know it…” I raised my brows at that.
It wasn’t like I couldn’t relate to people like her. Scared to approach yet greedy for attention.
Without much thought I got up from my seat, drawing several glances in my direction, and without warning, I lightly kicked the girl out of the desk.
“Ah!” Naturally, she fell to the ground before I walked out of the desk and coldly stated,
“Don’t be so lazy around me.” With those words, I began walking toward the classroom entrance, receiving several curses and ominous glares along the way.
Just as I was about to exit, I looked back at the timid girl, only to find her being surrounded by many of the students, asking her whether she was fine.
‘Well, that settles it…’
