Chapter 5: Liam Entering the Kingdom of Elf

After traveling in the carriage with Lydia-san for a while, we finally arrived in the Elf Kingdom. The Elf Kingdom mostly consisted of vegetation grown through the help of magic and all of the buildings in this kingdom gave a unique charm that couldn’t be found in any other countries. 

“Liam-san, what kind of training are you planning to do in the Elf Kingdom?”

“I heard there’s a place where you can learn magic for a short term period of time. I’m planning to review and strengthen my magic knowledge in that place.”

Elves were known to be exceptionally talented in magic compared to other races. There must be a lot of magic spells that I still didn’t know about in this kingdom.

“I see. I was born into a family of knights, so we primarily only focused on swordsmanship. Magic has always been something that I used only as a support for my swordsmanship. So, I’m sure I will be able to learn a lot of valuable lessons by training here with you, Liam-san.”

“Yes! Let’s help each other and do our best! If there’s something you don’t understand, feel free to ask me! Although I’m not sure I can be of help to you, Lydia-san.”

“Yes, Liam-san!”

We were talking about how excited we were as we entered the Elf Kingdom. When our carriage was reaching the gate, a man who appeared to be an elf gatekeeper checked the inside of our carriage.

“Could either one of you please provide me with your name and status?”

He asked us from inside of the carriage. Since Lydia-san was technically accompanying me on my training journey, I thought I should be the one to speak, but Lydia-san calmly raised her hand to stop me. She then showed the gatekeeper what appeared to be a family crest engraved on the hilt of her sword. 

“I am Lydia Astoria. A knight from the family of Astoria.”

“A-Astoria-san? Pa-Pardon my rudeness, but if I’m not mistaken, Lydia-sama is also an S-rank adventurer… Correct?”

“Yes.”

Lydia-san answered confidently. Not a hint of hesitation in her face. Then the elf gatekeeper responded.

“Please, proceed ahead! We sincerely hope you will enjoy your stay in the Elf Kingdom!”

Our carriage moved forward upon hearing those words, but it soon stopped just after entering the Elf Kingdom. Lydia-san and I stepped out of the carriage, but…

“Liam-san? Is something the matter?”

Lydia-san tilted her head to the side as she looked at me curiously. But still! I couldn’t help but think Lydia-san was really an amazing person indeed! I knew she must be amazing since she was an S-rank adventurer, but still…!

“Umm… Lydia-san, is it okay for someone like me to be by your side? As you already know, I’ve been expelled from an A-rank party due to my incompetence…”

I anxiously asked her that and in response, Lydia-san took my left hand gently in both of hers and with a kind expression on her face, she said. 

“Of course it’s more than fine for you to be by my side. In fact, I would be the one getting upset if you were to say you wanted to leave me. That’s why, you must never ever leave me, okay?”

“I-I understand!”

Lydia-san looked like she would be the scary type if she were to get angry, so I definitely didn’t want to make her upset. I nodded in response and seemingly satisfied, Lydia-san finally let my left hand go. 

“Good grief. Liam-san, you really don’t understand just how powe—””

“AH! Look! Lydia-san! There’s a blacksmith shop over there!”

Upon noticing a building that appeared to be a blacksmith shop, I immediately pointed in that direction in excitement.

“You’re right…”

“Let’s go check it out!”

“Yes, let’s go!”

Lydia-san and I entered the blacksmith together. There stood a beautiful female elf inside the blacksmith together. It seemed she was the owner of this shop. Aside from us, there were no other customers to be seen. 

“Welcome! What can I do for you today?”

“I’d like to get my armor repaired.”

“I see…”

The shopkeeper stared at Lydia-san’s armor intently for a moment before she finally said.

“Sure thing! I can fix this armor in a jiffy! Now, would you please take off your armor so I can repair it?”

“-!!”

When the shopkeeper said that, Lydia-san’s cheeks immediately turned red. She glanced at me nervously. Right! Lydia-san didn’t have anything else underneath her armor! She would be just in her underwear if she took her armor off!

“I-I’ll wait outside! Just call me when you’re done!”

I quickly excused myself and quite technically ran away from the blacksmith shop. I decided to wait patiently for Lydia-san to finish her business at the blacksmith shop. A few minutes later, someone came to approach me. It wasn’t Lydia-san though. It was a beautiful female elf with striking red hair. She was wearing a pretty revealing outfit.

“Oh my, what an adorable little human boy you are… Is this your first time visiting the Elf kingdom?”

“Huh?! Uhh… Yeah.”

“I see… Then… If you’d like, how about I become your guide during your stay in the Elf Kingdom?”

The tall elf leaned forward to meet my gaze. I couldn’t hide my confusion and surprise at her unexpected offer.
