Chapter 38: Zayn, Deciding His Target

“Oi,oi,oi! What the hell is going on here?!”

The other two of Zayn’s party members, Bella and Radd, raised their voices in surprise. Just like Zayn, they were shocked to see they were in the middle of a snow-covered plains. 

“We were just in the Elf Kingdom a moment ago, right? Why are we in this snowy place now?!”

They knew Liam was strong, but they didn’t know Liam could use wind magic powerful enough to send them across the border. This predicament was completely beyond anything Zane and the others had anticipated.

Zayn said confidently before he pulled a bottle filled with a mysterious liquid from his pocket. 

“What’s that?”

“It’s a potion that I purchased in town. This potion can weaken the demon race. No matter how strong the empress is, she’s still a demon. If we use this potion on her, she will become weak. Then, we will be able to take her down easily!”

“S-So! In other words…?”

“Yeah! It’s only a matter of time before the Demon Kingdom becomes ours! Once we gain control of the Demon Kingdom, we will crush Liam with the power of the demon race!”

Zayn shouted loudly and his two party members, who had been shocked a moment ago by the snowy region, began to grow excited too. They chanted happily.

The two of them shouted in unison, feeling very excited.

 I nodded in agreement with Lydia-san’s suggestion. But then, Meria-san, who was walking right behind me, said to me. 

“Whaaat?!~ Wait! I can’t use movement magic like you two! I won’t be able to keep up with you two!”

“Of course, we will make sure to adjust our speed so you won’t get left behind, Meria-san.”

I said that to Meria-san. Of course we would adjust our speed to match her. Meria-san had become our companion after all! But then, Meria-san said to us. 

“But that will make me feel like I’m holding you two back…”

“Holding us back..? Of course not! It just so happens that Lydia-san and I are skilled at movement magic. I will never think you are dragging us down, Meria-san!

I said reassuringly and Meria-san smiled in return. 

“You can say that because you’re so kind, Liam-kun. But still, I really don’t want to hold you back, so… I have one favor to ask. Is it okay, Liam-kun?”

“A favor? Sure. What is it?”

“Can you carry me in your arms like a princess and take me with you?”

“Huh…?”

I was perplexed upon hearing her request, but before I could say anything, Lydia-san coldly interjected.

“Liam-san, how about we just use movement magic and leave this woman behind?”

“H-Huh?! No! Meria-san is our companion after all!’

After getting her consent, I gently lifted Meria-san in a princess carry. I put my hand on her back and behind her legs to support her. Now that I had a firm grip on her, Meria-san wrapped her arms around my neck and asked me a question with a smile on her face. 

“How is it, Liam-kun? Am I heavy?”

“You’re not heavy at all!

“I’m glad to hear that~”

Meria-san said as she snuggled closer to me, effectively pressing her body against mine. 

“Me-Meria-san?!”

“What’s wrong, Liam-kun?~”

“U-Umm…”

Feeling embarrassed at how closely pressed we were, I struggled to find the right words when Lydia-san said to Meria-san.

“-?! You don’t need to be that close to Liam-san!”

“Huhhh?~ But if I don’t stick to Liam-kun, I might fall off!”

“You… Not wanting to hold us back is just an excuse, right?! This is your true goal, isn’t it?!”

“Huh…?~ Lydia-chan, I don’t understand what you’re talking about~”

Meria-san said while pressing her ample chest closer to me. Fortunately, she was donned in her winter gear right now, but if she weren’t… N-No! Let’s not think about unnecessary things right now!

“Alright, then let’s go.”

“…Okay.”

After that, I carried Meria-san in my arms and used movement magic as I headed to the Demon Kingdom together with Lydia-san.
