Chapter 6: Helping the Beograd Knights

Three days later—

We finally arrived in the remote Beograd territory.

It was a peaceful land full of forests. Little birds were chirping everywhere, and warm sunlight poured down, feeling really nice on the skin.

Tinny, riding the Holy Beast Unicorn with me, sounded excited as she spoke up.

“Wow, we got to the borderlands so quickly. As expected of your Holy Beast Unicorn, big brother.”

“Nah, the trip was comfortable thanks to you, Tinny. All the monsters in the kingdom are under your control, after all.”

As long as Tinny was with us, there was no way any monster would attack. In fact, goblin villages threw welcoming parties for us, and lizardmen even gave us tons of fish and fruit as souvenirs.

“I’m so happy I could help you, big brother. All three million monsters exist only to protect you. Was there anything wrong with how my followers welcomed us?”

“…It was more than enough. I actually feel bad with how much they went out of their way.”

The monsters kept calling me stuff like Creator or [the Supreme and Greatest One] and treated me with way too much respect.

What the heck is [the Supreme and Greatest One] supposed to mean…?

“Thank you. But big brother, from here on we can’t let our guard down. The monsters in Beograd territory aren’t under my control.”

Tinny’s sharp eyes scanned the area around us.

Looked like our safe and comfy journey was over.

“Got it. I’ll stay sharp.”

“Yes. No matter what happens, I’ll protect you… Eh!? Stop!”

With a loud whoosh, a huge boulder came falling from the sky.

Right before the Unicorn slammed on the brakes, the rock smashed into the ground and shattered.

“Wh-what was that!?”

“…Looks like there’s a town nearby, and that was a missed shot from monsters attacking it.”

Tinny figured out the situation right away.

Even in her human form, her eyesight and hearing seemed to be on dragon level.

“This is serious! Let’s hurry toward where that rock came from!”

This was my territory now. That meant the ones getting attacked were my people.

Since I’d decided to save this place, I couldn’t just ignore it.

I gave the Unicorn instructions and we dashed through the forest.

“Yes. Anyone who tries to hurt you is my enemy too. I’m gonna smash them.”

Tinny was burning with anger as well.

After a while, we spotted a town surrounded by fences.

A group of one-eyed giants—cyclops—were laughing as they hurled huge boulders at the town.

These guys were attacking the town just for fun!? And there were five of them.

“Geboh, gohoh! As long as the Beograd Knights are here, we won’t let you do as you please!”

“We’ll stop you no matter what!”

A bunch of pale-faced knights were surrounding the cyclops and attacking them.

But their strikes were weak and sloppy, not doing any real damage to the cyclops. Plus, there were only about ten of them, barely enough to call a knight order.

“Ugyaaaaah!?”

One cyclops swung its arm like it was swatting a fly, and the knights went flying, tumbling across the ground.

My whole body suddenly burned hot.

“Tinny, bring out [Demon Spear Levantin]!”

“Yes. Magic power charge is complete.”

In my raised right hand appeared a huge spear glowing bright red.

It was the rank SSS long-range weapon [Demon Spear Levantin] that I’d stored in [Infinite Warehouse].

It needed a ridiculous amount of magic power, so it was a trump card I couldn’t use without Tinny’s support.

“I’m gonna blow them away!”

I hurled it as hard as I could from horseback.

The spear shot forward with roaring flames, flying with overwhelming speed.

BOOOOOM!

[Demon Spear Levantin] slammed straight into one cyclops and caused a massive explosion.

A huge crater formed where the spear landed, and the cyclops vanished without a trace.

“Huh…?”

A dazed voice rose from the Beograd Knights.

“Wha—? You one-shot an A-rank monster, a cyclops!?”

“Wh-what was that…!? Magic!?”

“A white horse with one horn… Could that be the Holy Beast Unicorn!?”

“Wh-who exactly are you!?”

Tinny proudly announced to the wide-eyed knights,

“This is my big brother, the new lord of Beograd, Myce Windsor.”

“Nice to meet you, I’m Myce. I rushed over when I heard the town was under attack!”

When I raised my right arm, [Demon Spear Levantin] flew back and settled into my hand. As long as it didn’t run out of magic power, the spear would always return to its owner.

The cyclops looked shaken by my sudden appearance.

“Anyone who’s your enemy is my enemy too, big brother.”

“Gah… Don’t tell me you’re…!?”

When Tinny glared at the cyclops, the biggest one who seemed to be their leader gasped.

“What!? The new lord!? Gohoh, gohoh…!?”

All the knights dropped to one knee at once.

“P-please stay back! We may only have light symptoms, but we’re infected with the Black Death! Don’t come any closer!”

The knight commander who said that had dark spots—the symptoms of the Black Death—showing on his face. The other knights had them too.

It looked like they’d been fighting to protect the town even while the disease was eating away at them.

I was really impressed by their selfless bravery.

There was no way I could let them die.

“Tinny, transform into Valitra. We’re protecting everyone!”
