Chapter 27: The Demon King Supposed to Lose, Fights an Aerial Battle with an Erection
‘…Who are you?’
“I am Diablo. Perhaps you’d recognize me better as the Demon King?”
‘Ah, so it’s you… This is our first time meeting in person.’
I was facing off against a massive dragon with gleaming golden scales.
The holy dragon’s voice resonated directly in my mind, creating a strange, otherworldly sensation.
‘I am the holy dragon. My name is Arcyon. I am the dragon that protects the kingdom’s order and destroys its enemies. I am here to end you.’
“Straight to the point, huh? It won’t be that easy.”
‘Everyone who stands before me says the same. In the end, I’m sure you’ll be no different.’
“So quick to judge, aren’t you?”
Arcyon, the holy dragon, unleashed an overwhelming surge of magical power from its entire body.
I responded in kind, releasing my own magical energy to keep it in check.
‘Before we fight, can I ask you something?’
“What is it?”
‘…Why, um, why do you have *that out?’
Arcyon hesitated, glancing at the dmoniic sword between my legs.
“When I defeat you, I’ll get to enjoy a harem.”
‘…Excuse me? Are you joking?’
Arcyon’s voice dropped in pitch, clearly not amused by my entirely serious response.
It seemed I had upset the dragon.
Arcyon’s magical power surged even more intensely, trying to intimidate me.
‘Die.’
Immediately after, Arcyon unleashed a beam of light from its mouth.
The attack was an incredibly powerful breath, with the overwhelming heat of an enormous laser beam.
“You’re firing right off the bat!? Darkness Flame!!”
I countered Arcyon’s breath attack head-on with my magic, and our powers were nearly equal.
My level had risen significantly after wiping out the kingdom’s army, so I was confident. But the sheer destructive force of this attack caught me off guard.
At this rate, I might get overpowered…
But if one spell isn’t enough, then casting dozens of them should do the trick.
Even if I’m at a disadvantage with single attacks, Arcyon only has one mouth—there’s no way it can block everything.
“Darkness Lightning! Darkness Tornado! And another Darkness Flame for good measure!”
‘Guh…’
I unleashed a barrage of attack spells one after another.
Arcyon, unable to keep up, stopped its breath attack and focused on defense.
It seems my attacks are more effective than I thought.
‘I underestimated you a bit. You’re stronger than I expected.’
“If you want to apologize, now’s your chance.”
‘…You really know how to get under my skin. I am the holy dragon Arcyon, the dragon of Saint Alicia and Hero Alvin. I have no reason to bow to a creature of darkness!!’
“Is that so? Then I’ll crush you!!”
Arcyon flapped its wings and ascended higher.
“Hm. No head to bow, but it seems you’ve got a tail to tuck and run.”
‘…You’re really irritating, you know that?’
“I’m just as irritated by you.”
I blame Arcyon for interrupting my harem time in the carriage earlier.
I took off, following Arcyon into the sky.
In war movies, they often say that in aerial battles, having the higher ground gives you the advantage. I don’t want to be attacked from above, so I’d prefer to be the one in that position.
However, there’s a significant speed difference between me and the dragon, Arcyon.
‘You’re slow!! Where’s all that bravado from earlier?’
“You’re the one running away! Don’t act so high and mighty.”
And so, I prepared for my aerial battle with Arcyon.
Side: Elsia
At times like this, I feel powerless.
“Oh my, Diablo is incredible.”
“As expected of my brother.”
“He’s too fast, I can’t see anything.”
“Indeed, battles between such high-level beings are truly spectacular.”
Looking up at the sky, a battle beyond imagination was unfolding.
I’ve killed many people and leveled up quite a bit, but even so, I can barely catch a glimpse of Lord Diablo.
“If only I were stronger, maybe I could fight for him.”
I owe Lord Diablo an immense debt.
He gave me the chance for revenge after I was betrayed by those I trusted. One day, I want to repay him for that.
But that day is still far off.
Right now, there’s nothing I can do for him.
“Ah!!”
It happened in an instant.
Lord Diablo was struck directly by the holy dragon’s breath and plummeted several hundred meters. However, he quickly regained his composure and began to rise again.
“That was a close call.”
“M-Mom, Lord Diablo is okay, right?”
“Yes… I think he’s fine, but all we can do is trust and wait.”
“I know, but still…”
Even if I tried to intervene in the fierce battle between Lord Diablo and the holy dragon, I wouldn’t be of any help.
The difference in our levels is just too great.
“Master, can’t we do something?”
I turned to my mentor, the sage Naria, who was likely the strongest among us.
But her face twisted in displeasure.
“Don’t ask me that. I’m strong, yes, but that’s a battle between beings beyond human limits. I’ve managed to overcome aging, but I’m still within the realm of humanity. If I tried to interfere, I’d be killed in an instant.”
“That’s not what I mean. Isn’t there some way to support him indirectly?”
“There isn’t. The best thing we can do is to get out of here quickly, so we don’t become a distraction to our master. Now, go give orders to your troops.”
Cursing my own powerlessness, I followed my mentor’s advice and issued commands to my army.
“Ryukshu, please take the troops and head to the royal capital with Maron.”
“Y-Yes!! But, Lady Elsia, what about you?”
“I will stay here and watch over Lord Diablo’s battle. Don’t worry, even if I get caught in the aftermath of the fight, it won’t kill me.”
“I-I see. Understood.”
“In that case, I’ll go with you all. If I get caught up in the battle between the master and the holy dragon, I might not survive.”
With that, my mentor quickly got into the carriage.
“And Misha—”
“I’m staying. I’ll cheer for my brother.”
“…I see. But please stay close to me, just in case.”
“Not necessary… I want to say that, but if I get caught up in the fight, I might die. I’ll rely on you this time.”
“Fufu.”
Back when we were at the kingdom’s magic academy, Misha’s brother kept interfering, so we barely got to talk. It makes me a little happy now.
Misha is such a good girl.
Seeing her now, thinking of Lord Diablo as her brother, makes me realize it even more.
Misha probably hated me so much back at the academy because her brother never really faced her.
Even if he couldn’t return her affection, Misha’s brother should have at least acknowledged her.
Because he neglected her, Misha couldn’t control herself, went out of control, and even plotted to assassinate me.
Well, that doesn’t mean I’ve forgiven her for trying to kill me. I still dislike her.
But even though Misha has altered her memories, she genuinely cares about Lord Diablo’s well-being now.
In that sense, I don’t dislike her.
“What about you, Mom?”
“Hmm, maybe I’ll stay too? If Diablo gets hurt, I’ll need to heal him.”
“I see.”
As I looked up at the sky again, watching Lord Diablo and the holy dragon’s battle, my mentor, who had already gotten into the carriage, called out to me.
“Hey, Elsia!! The undead won’t move without your orders!! Hurry up and tell these useless puppets to head to the royal capital!!”
“Oh, sorry. I’ll give the order right awa—wait…”
“What is it? What’s wrong?”
…I just had an idea.
I’ve just thought of a way I can help Lord Diablo.
