The Demon and the Hero - Chapter 7- Dinner~1
Neither Lenora was used to wearing gowns and party dresses, nor did Hera insist she wear them.
It was clear from her behavior that Hera didn’t want Lenora to go on this date at all.
She doesn’t like the Royal family for a reason. Her views on those people stem from the incident that transpired years ago when her father was falsely accused and sentenced to death.
From there on Hera hated the people from the royal family. However, she couldn’t force her friend to follow her attitude and ignore those people.
“Do you want me to bring something for you?”Lenora asked as she allowed the maid to fix her coat.
Lenora was wearing a formal suit with a long waistcoat, which was not unique since many women from the military wear formal clothing for several reasons.
While helping her mistress to straighten her coat, the blond maid shook her head, “Just return safely without any unnecessary baggage of some bad news.”
“Let me guess, a marriage proposal is the bad news you are referring to here?”
Hera widened her eyes, “Don’t even say it. Sometimes, even saying the bad things turns the wheel of fate, and I would rather throw myself in a well and die before seeing you getting tied down by those golden chains of those aristocrats.”
Lenora chuckled at the exaggerated reaction.
Not so long after, she walked out of the room accompanied by her maid.
“Take care.” Lenora nodded before she boarded the carriage sent by the Prince and soon the carriage began to move to the destination.
“I am very delighted that you chose to come, Lady Lenora.” Inside the carriage, the familiar brunette sat, smiling delicately as she greeted the silverhead.
Lenora nodded, “I had to come after Your Highness sent that proposal.”
The other one sighed before she asked, “Lady Lenora, can I request you something?”
The silver-head nodded, “Yes?”
“Can you be a little more casual with the Prince when you meet him? You see he often remains surrounded by people in front of whom he always has to remain upright. And this meeting is something he planned behind everyone’s back since he wants to have a normal meeting with you. Not as a Prince but as Williams he sent that request.”
Lenora was surprised that the assistant was aware of such details…but well, in a way it was natural.
Truth be told, Lenora knows the pressure of being someone with high status and high expectations. Initially, she was also under quite a burden after she was announced as the Hope for Humanity.
She could barely focus on herself. All the friends and family were separated from her since she had to prepare for the war.
So yes, she could understand how the Prince must be feeling about the burden his father and the other people have dropped on him.
With a soft nod, Lenora agreed to her, “I won’t promise but yes, I will try to remain casual in his presence.”
The brunette smiled, “Thank you.”
*****
Not so long after the carriage stopped before one of the most expensive and reputed eatery in the capital.
Lenora only visited this place once in the past when she was about to leave for the Dark realm; Hera brought her here since the alcohol of this place was great.
Since many important figures visit the Capital regularly, it wasn’t unnatural for such an expensive eatery to be found here.
Lenora climbed down the carriage and helped the other one to do the same before the duo entered the place.
The atmosphere of the place was quite peaceful and attractive. Low music was being played from one corner. The fresh aroma of wine and delicious food wafted in the air.
The restaurant’s manager immediately stepped forward and asked, “Please follow me, Miss Ravenshade.”
He was aware of the person she came to meet here—naturally, he would be informed if the person in question is a royalty—so he took the role to guide her.
Lenora nodded and wordlessly began to follow him.
Seeing the Hero in person for the first time, many people turned their eyes to gaze at her, and many of them began to whisper.
Although many of them had met her before or at least seen her in the palace before, it didn’t lessen their excitement to see the greatest hope of humanity in person.
Those who greeted her, Lenora gave a soft nod in response as she made her way towards the table where the manager laid her.
It was a table for two, not so distant from the entrance and not in a corner as well. However, surely, for others to look at the table, they had to make quite the effort since it was in the backmost—nearest to the kitchen.
There awaited a handsome young man with a very pleasing and approachable aura.
He has curly golden blond hair which was neatly combed sideways. His pearly emerald eyes shone upon seeing his date as he pushed back the seat without making a noise and got up.
He stood at an idle height of 6’1, just the same height as the lady. High nose, broad shoulders, and a lean build.
He is the golden bachelor of the continent and someone who has received several proposals in the past—some from foreign countries as well.
Not only intelligent—the Prince is a core member of the team that forms strategies during the war—he has achieved several feats with his sword as well.
Strong and intelligent with a humble personality and charming looks. Indeed a person to fall for.
However, Lenora has always remained indifferent to his charms—making the Prince attracted to her just because of that reason.
Although she respects his brains, when it comes to romance, she completely rejects any advances, sometimes intentionally.
However, today she agreed to come here and meet him not as the Prince but as a friend. It moved his heart.
“You came….I feel so honored.”
The manager took the cue and left immediately with a smile never leaving his face.
Lenora gave a brief smile, “There is nothing special about it, so don’t mind it.”
Williams chuckled before he pulled the seat for the lady.
Lenora, albeit a little awkwardly, sat down.
Seems like this evening is going to be troublesome.
