The Demon and the Healer - Chapter 30- After Story 1- Memorable Day for her!
It has been three years since Charlotte admitted her feelings for Ray and both of them finally became a couple.
It was strange how someone who despised demons to her core and wanted nothing more than to make them extinct from existence was actually now going to become the wife of someone from the same race she hated.
Charlotte wanted to marry Ray just after they united but when she came to realize that Ray was only fifteen years old, other than postponing the plan she was drowned in guilt.
She was seven years older than Ray…yet, she has done things that could be regarded as an explicit crime.
It took a lot from her best friend Lilli to console her and even Ray assured his woman that in his previous lie, Ray has spent eighteen years so basically he was thirty-three years old.
Charlotte wasn’t convinced and almost went to the Northern Mountains to do three months of continuous waterfall mediation to purify herself. But Ray didn’t allow it.
Nevertheless, they had to wait three years to finally reach the stage where they could legally marry.
Charlotte wanted to have a grand marriage but knowing that neither side have anyone whom they could call their family other than a mutual friend Charlotte agreed to have a small court marriage.
But how can Ray allow his woman to get sad for such a memorable and once-in-a-lifetime occasion? He created his cathedral and paid over a hundred guests to attend the ceremony.
Lilli was naturally playing the role of the bride’s maid and also helping the bride with her makeup.
“Do you think Ray’s jaw would fall seeing me like this? I mean it isn’t like I have not made him startled before but his surprised expression seems so priceless that I crave for more and more.”
Lilli chuckled at that. Seeing how Charlotte seemed more talkative than usual, others might have believed that the bride is simply just elated. Lilli acknowledges that Charlotte is happy because of the marriage but this out-of-character behavior of hers comes from the fact that the bride is extremely nervous at this point.
Lilli has spent years with Charlotte so for her to know how her best friend tend to behave in different situation is natural.
“Don’t worry, Char. Ray won’t be able to snatch his gaze away from you.”
Lilli assured the girl while patting over her shoulder and the compliment was genuine from Lilli’s side since today Charlotte was indeed looking extremely beautiful and endearing.
With her off-shoulder white bride dress which spread near the end along with some light makeup was adding quite many points to her overall charm.
The harmonious atmosphere between the two soon broke as Charlotte sensed a familiar person approaching before two knocks resounded on the door.
Lilli saw Charlotte frowning before she cautiously went to open the door but didn’t part it completely. Upon peeking outside, she realized why Charlotte seemed annoyed.
Helios was standing there.
“What do you need?”
It was surprising that Helios was able to enter inside even though this cathedral was highly guarded, as per what Ray said. Ray couldn’t have any slip up meant that he willingly allowed Helios to enter.
And soon Charlotte would realize the reason for it.
“He didn’t say anything?”
Charlotte raised her brows since Lilli walked back inside the room and Helios’ aura soon distanced away.
Lilli shook her head before handing the things which Helios gave her.
“Be careful Char.”
“I know.” Charlotte ran a thorough examination of the two letters and the wooden box that Helios left for her but found nothing suspicious about it.
Knowing very well, that Ray has deployed one of his soldiers for the protection of Charlotte all the time, she got assurance before she gazed at the names written over the letter.
“Who is it from?” Lilli asked, curious about the sender.
In a dazed tone, Charlotte replied, “This one from Helios and this one from…father.”
A long silence ensued in the room as a heavy feeling enshrouded Charlotte upon reading the name written over the second letter. She was intending to give the letter from Helios to Ray so her husband could determine whether it is safe for her to read the letter.
But when it came to her father, Charlotte was not able to help herself.
She has loved and admired her father, for the majority of her life. To subdue those feelings in just three years was nigh impossible for anyone and Charlotte was no exception to it.
‘I guess, Ray knew what Helios had for me that’s why he didn’t stop Helios from coming here…’
Before Charlotte knew she already had broken the seal and taken out the parchment in her hand where her father’s handwriting was etched.
With her mind, thrown into turmoil yet at the same time falling into numbness, Charlotte began to read the letter.
[Dear Charlotte,
I hope my child is doing well. I know you must be loathing me for calling you my child even though I have partaken in such hideous crime which allows no forgiveness. And I am not writing this letter to apologize to you, since using my own daughter to kill the man she loves is not something that deserves remission. It took a lot of courage from me to finally write this letter since I heard that you are getting married. I can’t even tell how many parchments I have scrapped to find the proper way to address my congratulations but at the end of the day…I was not able to find the right words. Just know that my blessings would always remain by your side and I pray from my heart that you live a happy life from hereon. My daughter has seen various things in her life and faced many difficulties until now. Now, it’s time for her to enjoy the happiness she deserves.
Bless you, my child.]
By the time Charlotte was done reading the letter, some spots of the parchment were already moistened up because of tears falling off Charlotte’s eyes.
She didn’t know when but Charlotte found herself wailing while reading the letter.
She slowly brought her hand toward the wooden box before lifting the lid. There rested a small yet elegant diamond ring. Charlotte identified the ring. There was a small note in the box which stated, ‘From Mother. I wish you a happy married life ahead, my daughter.’
Strange it was. How much Charlotte tried hating her parents, it just took a simple letter and a ring to melt away all her hatred and the elation to see how they are supportive of this marriage brought her to tears.
It was really a memorable day for Charlotte…
