The Demon and the Healer - Chapter 11- His woman~2!
[Helios’ POV:]
I hate this demon with immense passion and right now if something is holding me off from unsheathing my sword is the previous encounter we had.
I have my grudges and witnessing the current expression Charlotte wore, I found my annoyance soaring high. Seriously, what they had done in that brief period of time or what it took from this filthy demon to grow such a side of Charlotte all of a sudden is a mystery to me. But tonight after getting officially engaged with my love I thought this chapter would come to its ultimate end.
Everyone would have remained happy. The Emperor was the one who offered this proposal so naturally he was willing to let me become a part of his family. I know Charlotte’s siblings well enough to build a good connection with them and continue to get along with my soon-to-be mother-in-laws as well. My friends were supporting me and my comrades were happy that finally, I was uniting with the person whom I have adored for so long,
I was confident that after marriage I would be able to win over Charlotte’s heart as well. She deserves a lifetime’s worth of love and affection and I was prepared to give everything she desires in order to get her on my side.
But everything began to go downhill upon the emergence of this particular demon general. There was a possibility that now I might be able to defeat it considering that we were now on the other side of the veil and also this palace was surrounded by the holy magic of the seven greatest popes in history. If there was a hell for any demon on this planet then this was it.
And as I presumed there already have been people who began chanting their prayers and spells to bring an end to this last threat humanity have to withstand.
But…
“Stay where you are and this evening would remain peaceful for all of us…”
One of the strongest holy magic users, second to only Charlotte, the prime minister who was in the middle of chanting a Saint Rank spell [Decontiminate] was made to halt his spell chants with a single yet deadly glance of the damn demon.
He is still that strong?!
“What do you want from us?”
The emperor spoke up, seemingly also having evaluated where our foe stands. Despite in presence of so many warriors not from this Empire alone but those foreign aristocracies who arrived with their elite guards as well. But even under such pressure, the demon seemed all casual and fine like he was taking a walk in the park.
It was not enough for him to annoy me that his following words just blew up the restraint I have preserved until now.
“It’s simple. Hand me over my woman and I would never appear again.”
My mind went numb for a moment, and before I knew my hands were already holding my sword, and the tip of it directed at the bastard son of a bitch’s throat to end this farce once and for all.
“!!!”
I regained my sanity just some inches apart from a throat I didn’t want to pierce through since the person who came in between the path of my vengeance was the girl I could never consciously hurt.
“Charlotte….why?”
My voice contained irritation and concern as well seeing my soon-to-be bride siding with another man in the middle of this whole crowd and more so when the said guy was one of those whom Charlotte hated the most in the past.
My eyes were drawn to hers and truth be told I thought for a second that she was being manipulated by this vile creature but the look in her eyes and how deliberately she was implying her reluctance through her gaze…made me sad.
“You cannot and will not hurt Ray. He’s not here to shed blood so we should respect the choice our guest had made, right?”
“What are you even saying Charlotte?! Are you out of your mind to defend a demon and go against your fiancé?”
The empress yelled at her daughter and I was sure that almost everyone had the same thought as her but right now I was not able to comprehend her words at all. My attention was solely converged on the girl whom I dreamt to spend my life, currently standing to protect someone else.
She chose me….over him, right?
Unforgivable.
Either disappointed in Charlotte or not, I could not bring to harm her for whatever she is doing, so I chose to take my anger on the one who caused this situation to arrive in the first place.
I disappeared from Charlotte’s line of sight, using my enhanced shadow steps I erased my presence, and still my hand holding my holy sword I appeared just behind my target within seconds, much to various gasps but I cared none of it.
Let Charlotte hate me all she can, I know how to melt her heart. Just now, I could see nothing but the tip of my blade and the nape of my prey.
***TINGG***
**CREAK**
Like lightning thunder coursed through my body, and the backlash of my thrust ran throughout my frame but that was not what made me widen my eyes rather the sword in which I took my pride, was…broken.
The demon didn’t even turn to defend himself nor did he utilize his skill to coat his body with his demonic powers yet….that means, that day he was intentionally letting Charlotte stab him, wasn’t he? He was making fun of me that day and right now as well, no? Why can’t I stab this bastard like I did to all those demons?
Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? WHY IS THIS HAPPENING?!
“Bastard I will kill you!?”
“Helios no!”
Charlotte was about to defend him once again but using her skill Empress locked Charlotte in a bind before dragging her away. I did not miss the chance before I let go of my sword and punched the demon right across its face.
***BHAMM***
My fist did connect but the soft crunching sound indicated that I have broken my bone. I had to retreat my arm back despite not wanting with a pained expression written over my face.
What the heck is this guy?!

[Charlotte’s POV:]
“Please let me go, mother-Wait! Please don’t, Helios!!”
I turned my attention from my mother who seemingly was unmoving from her stance I shouted at Helios who had planted his fist on Ray’s left cheek, attacking him in that enhanced state which could even break ice pillars.
Why couldn’t they understand and trust me this once that Ray was not like other demons and he would not hurt anyone?
My call was unheard of and it seemed I didn’t need to worry about Ray in the first place since upon contact, Helios’ arm seemed to get more injured than he could have implied to Ray.
He backed off with a slightly pale face and thanks to the shock my mother had just like others, I was able to shake off the shackles and approach Ray as fast as I could but it seemed I was already too late…
‘No Ray… ‘
My feet came to an abrupt halt as I saw Ray raising his right hand with a flick he slapped Helios with the back of his hand. Generally considering how strong Helios is, that small slap wouldn’t have hurt him.
But when the Hero flew across the hall with a bloodied face I knew things are going to be messier from here on…

I intended to wrap this arc up sooner but it seemed I need to detail some of the foundations before proceeding.
