The Demon and the Healer - Chapter 10- His woman~1!

It was the day of the big celebration at the royal palace where all the high nobility of the empire and also some foreign aristocrats arrived upon receiving the invitation to celebrate the day of the new phase of humanity.

The main hall of the palace was full of people with chandeliers illuminated with a comfortable warm glow and servants could be seen under it walking around the venue to serve the guests. The choir was playing soothing music in a corner to complement the whole atmosphere and provide a profoundly comfortable surrounding to engage in leisure chattering.

Most of the talks revolved around the great war and how empires allied with each other to take down the massive forces of the demon lord when the chaos initially ensued. The most flocked group were those whose center was occupied by a hero.

Glain and Grace were really doubting their judgment to come here since, from the start of the event, they have been continuously engaged in conversation with varying faces. Since all of them were important figures both of them couldn’t have acted rudely as well.

The Emperor, who has been chatting with the esteemed emperors who arrived to celebrate the day from their respective kingdoms, excused himself for a while as he advanced toward the main stage of the venue.

***Ting*Ting**

“Now, your majesty would like to announce something, so may I have your attention? Thank you.”

As the Prime Minister spoke after clanking his wine glass to draw the attention of the audience, everyone turned their gazes toward the said person’s direction who soon stepped back and gave space for the blond ruler of the continent to come forward.

Many already knew what it was and those unaware ones keenly looked at the middle-aged man who held himself honorably and had a dignified persona enveloping the person.

Adorning his crest over his head and donned in red and white formal attire with a robe attached to it, Emperor William spoke up in a high-pitched tone for everyone present inside to hear him out clearly.

“Today, we have gathered here on a memorable and very auspicious event to celebrate the victory of heroes over the evildoers. Once again, darkness was vanquished by the light and once again it was proven why the human race has always been on top of every hierarchy. On that note, I would like to offer a toast. Cheers.”

“”Cheers.””

Everyone followed suit while raising their respective glass in unison with varying expressions on their faces. But what was mutual is that none of them contained any negative response on the toast.

More than ensuring their future, what could have made anyone happier than that?

The cheering dyed down after some moments and the silence once again spread out since the host was not done yet with the announcement.

“Since we all have gathered on such a joyous occasion, I would like to make another announcement regarding two of the most important existence in my life.”

William paused before he raised his hand in offering toward his daughter who was standing near the stage.

“Charlotte.” The warmth in his voice didn’t go unnoticed by anyone as they smiled at the gesture before they saw the eldest daughter of the emperor walking onto the stage and standing before her father.

“And the person who brought such a great conclusion for all of us, Helios.”

Being continuously teased by his friends, Helios had an embarrassed smile on his face but he didn’t delay to heed the Emperor’s call as he walked up to them and stood just on the other side from Charlotte. Or to say…his soon-to-be wife.

Most of the guests now guessed what’s been happening here, with some young masters who had their eyes set on Charlotte grumbling in a corner and the maidens who wanted to make Helios their husband, shedding silently.

But none of it affected the emperor as he finally decided to announce something which not only would bring the Empire its strongest pillar of defense but also provide her daughter with the happiness she deserves.

The eyes of the hero were filled with great joy but it was different for the girl, not like anyone would be standing for it. Not even her father was able to see the emptiness Charlotte carried for this relationship so what she could expect from anyone else?

Soon her hand was taken by her father, same for Helios before the blonde man joined Helios and Charlotte’s hand as he spoke out the intentions of such a gesture.

“As of now, I declare that Helios and Charlotte are officially eng-”

“Ohya? Did I see someone making my woman sad?”

Abysmal silence fell into the venue as the domineering voice which despite not being shouted out, reached everyone’s ear quite clearly reverberated around and planted a sense of cautiousness in each of them.

Red ruby eyes glittered dangerously, more so when those fangs were on display along with them. His long onyx shade hair flowed down his back and reached his waist, with a strong and lean physique adding a few decent points to his charm. If not for his demonic presence, many of those weeping maidens might have already found their next target.

His presence was anything but pleasant which made many lose sweat as the said presence slowly levitated down toward the floor just in front of the Emperor.

Helios’ eyes were narrowed and his free hand already resting over his hilt to draw his sword. Emperor William didn’t have to ask who this demon was who dared to infiltrate the palace which was surrounded by the highest-grade Holy domain.

Guards have already begun to line up around the new presence ready to begin their assault with any suspicious movement. Gail and Grace, despite trembling under the effect of their post-trauma syndrome, unsheathed their weapons and prepared to engage the very next moment.

Within seconds the whole atmosphere of the hall shifted but only a single person seemed not to be wary of the demon and that was none other…

“Ray?”

Charlotte had a surprised expression adorning her charming face and more than before, the stiffness and the unnatural atmosphere surrounding the girl seems to be fading just by the appearance of this specific demon.

Wait….demon?!

“Stay where you are and this evening would remain peaceful for all of us.”

The said demon whom Charlotte regarded as Ray directed his gaze toward the prime minister who was in the process of chanting the highest grade of Holy magic he knows but being pointed out and being directed with such profound eyes, the said minister lost his concentration.

“What do you want from us?”

The Emperor slightly growled under his breath in a threatening manner by getting this special moment ruined by this inhumane who surely would be getting a death sentence regardless of what demand he has in mind for the ‘casual’ visit.

But little did could anyone think that a demon could have crossed the veil and entered the strongest territory of humanity just for this…

“It’s simple. Hand me over my woman and I would never appear again.”
