- Chapter 12- Satsuki\'s argument
We were given three days of leave from the University, which is why I didn’t wake up early for classes. But yes, the moment I woke up I hurriedly went to take a bath and freshen up.
I wasn’t going to stay at home for sure.
Today, I am going to show a certain girl the joys of life.
She has always been the quiet student who never left the corner of the class and always avoided talking to people, even if she had to be rude about it.
That became a cause of others being wary of her, and later, they started to scorn her.
But that was going to change. Tsumiki-san was finally taking a step towards a better life where she wouldn’t isolate herself.
And I would make sure that she realises how wrong she was to ever confine herself to her rooms.
“Someone is very active in the morning.” I heard my Mom from the living area as I exited the bathroom.
I peeked into the living room and told her, “Going out with a friend. Might return late.”
She was wearing her working clothes, which means she might return later than I, but there was no harm in letting her know.
With a teasing grin, she asked, “Is this about the same friend who needed your assistance yesterday?”
I grinned in response before backing away and rushing to my room.
Why am I so excited? I asked myself.
Was it because I am going with a friend after a long time?
Or was it because I actually like Tsumiki-san’s personality?
Could be both or neither. I don’t care. I just want nothing to come between my date with her.
Changing my clothes into something appropriate for an outing, I came down.
Mom had already left. She was a senior reporter who generally had to travel a lot. There is a high chance she might not return today.
But well, I was used to it so I didn’t feel much about it and after finishing the rice balls she made for me, I decided to leave.
It was already nine on the clock and we decided to meet at ten.
The distance between my house and hers was about forty minutes on foot.
I would probably take the train to save time.
Changing my shoes, I twisted the doorknob and opened the door…only to freeze upon seeing the person standing there.
Her fiery red eyes and those glowing red orbs …I can identify them even in a crowd.
“Satsuki…” I called out, “Why are you here?” My voice grew heavy.
The same girl who was a reason for my smile once felt like a source of annoyance now.
We are seeing each other for the first time after that incident where she stood me up and later I was punched by a bastard.
Satsuki crossed her arms and asked me, “Why aren’t you picking up my calls? You even blocked me last night? And where were you yesterday? You lied to your mother as well.”
I just continued to stare at her for a few moments before I asked her in a sarcastic tone, “Isn’t it funny that after what you did, you act like I am at fault?”
Satsuki’s eyes widened as she said, “I won’t deny that I am at fault but who ignores the person who is clearly guilty? How can you be so cruel to me, Kazuki?”
I laughed. No, seriously, I couldn’t hold myself when she pretends that everything that happens around her makes her the victim.
Her eyes turned fiery as she said, “What’s so funny? You are irritating me now.”
Shaking my head, I said, “I was a fool, Satsuki. A fool to think you would change over time. Your princess-like attitude was once endearing, but even in this situation, you are behaving like that? It’s plain stupid.”
Her expression turned grim but that didn’t stop me from telling the truth.
“You dumped me for a client of yours and didn’t even think of explaining it to me. Not even a text. I stood there with flowers in my hand for hours like an idiot only to see you having your fun time with a random old geezer.”
I saw her composure faltering for the first time, a tinge of guilt appearing in her eyes as she said, “The company forced me on this date. Ichiro-san is one of our VIP patrons who donated a huge sum for a few hours with me. I knew you won’t understand things even if I tried to explain it to you, that’s why I turned off my phone.”
I just stared at the girl for a few moments who was trying her best to sound reasonable.
And that’s exactly what baffled me.
“Do you even listen to yourself, Satsuki?” Shaking my head I told her bluntly, “You sound more like a prostitute than anything day by day. A woman who lives solely to earn money using her looks.”
Her eyes widened in shock. For a moment, I also couldn’t believe I said that. But I said what I said.
Heaving a sigh, I stepped out of the house and locked the door.
As I thought, Satsuki can never change herself for anyone.
I was a fool to believe otherwise. I thought I was special.
‘Bullshit.’
