The Dark Deceptor - Chapter 4 Darkness-2
While Ryder Arkhan and others were in the process of making the plan they heard someone scream .
“Incoming!” the soldier yelled, his voice echoing through the ravine.
“Mortar fire, take cover!”
Arkhan’s heart sank as he gazed up at the sky, seeing the telltale trajectory of a mortar round hurtling towards them.
“Get down!”
He bellowed, grabbing Ryder and the two soldiers, pulling them into a nearby depression.
The ground shook beneath them as the mortar round detonated mere meters away, sending shrapnel whizzing through the air.
The blast wave knocked the wind out of Arkhan’s lungs, his ears ringing from the O concussion.
As the dust settled, Arkhan peered out of their makeshift shelter, his eyes scanning the area. The enemy bunker was still intact, but he spotted something new – a reinforced enemy position, bristling with machine guns and mortar tubes.
“ Well that just made this situation more interesting “ said Ryder
After 3 minutes Ryder proposed the plan
“ Listen, this plan is quite simple okay . As we know that those bloody bastards have destroyed more than half of our ammunition so we’re quite short on explosives. The only ones that are available now are C4’s and mines . “
“So what are we gonna do now Lieutenant ? “
Asked Tyler , one of the best shooters in the team who was also quite close to Arkhan. Tyler often regards him as his own brother as they both were together in this was from the very beginning .
“What I am trying to say is that we would need a person to take a C4 attached with mine at its back and manually detonate them in umm……….. This part yes this part of that bunker as the highest chance of ammunition being kept is in this area and also this explosion may act as a spark for their explosives . “
“Lieutenant this plan is crazy its literally suicide “
“ There is no other choice “
“There is a choice we just to find it “
“ We might have found it but there is no goddam TIME in our hands !”
Both Arkhan and Ryder argue but Tyler and other soldiers stay silent . Tyler was thinking something else . As Ryder prepared the bombs Arkhan speaks again
“ Who the hell would even agree to perform this ?”
“ Me “ Ryder replied this time everyone’s heart stopped hearing this .
“ What ? This was my plan right , So it’ll be me who will face it . You just just give me cover fire “
“ No no no no listen lieutenant you don’t have to do this okay please we don’t need this much of a big sacrifice from you “
“ Arkhan you’re right I don’t need to do this but I have to do this . It’s my responsibility “
Before Arkhan could say anything else , Suddenly Tyler straight up ran towards Ryder and snatched the bombs forcefully and directly ran towards the enemy bunker .
Everyone stunned by the change of events failed to stop him .
Ryder’s eyes widened in shock, his face pale. “Tyler, no! Wait!”
“ SORRY !! Lieutenant can’t let the most important guy die, can I ?”
Tyler screamed while Sprinting .
“ TYLER !!! Fuck Godamm IT !!!”
But Tyler was beyond reason. With a fierce battle cry, he charged forward, dodging enemy fire with a reckless abandon that left Arkhan and Ryder dismayed.
“Damn it, Tyler!” Arkhan bellowed, his mind racing. “We need to get him back!”
Ryder didn’t hesitate, dashing after Tyler with Arkhan close behind. They weaved through the chaos, bullets whizzing past their heads as they desperately tried to catch up to their comrade.
The enemy bunker loomed ahead, its guns blazing as Tyler approached.
Arkhan’s heart was in his throat, his senses screaming at him to stop Tyler before it was too late.
But Tyler was resolute, his determination to complete the mission overriding all else. With a final burst of speed, he reached the bunker’s entrance and slapped the C4 onto
the door…
And that was the moment ……
The C4 blast ripped through the bunker, detonating the stored ammunition and fuel.
A massive fireball erupted, engulfing the structure and sending debris flying in all directions.
The shockwave knocked Arkhan and Ryder off their feet, sending them tumbling through the air.
As they struggled to get up, dazed and disoriented, they saw the bunker’s remains: a smoldering crater, surrounded by wreckage and charred bodies.
The enemy’s heavy weapons fell silent, their crews incinerated or buried under the rubble.
Arkhan felt the force of the explosion and his ears rang from the blast .But the only thing that was in his mind was Tyler . He was trying to deny the fact that he may be dead now but his heart was horribly refusing . But then suddenly
Tyler emerged from the smoke, his armor charred and blackened, but his Pogrin gleaming like gold. “HELL YEAH!” he bellowed, his fist raised in triumph.
Arkhan’s relief was palpable, a weight lifting off his shoulders.
For the first time in what felt like an eternity, he allowed himself to feel a glimmer of hope.
“Tyler, you crazy son of a…!” he exclaimed, his voice choked with emotion.
Ryder stumbled forward, his eyes wide with disbelief. “How…how did you even survive that?” he stammered.
Tyler chuckled, his eyes gleaming with mischief. “You think a little C4 can take me down? I’m Tyler, the king of kings Huh!”
They both heard Ryder’s voice, weak but determined. “Okay guys great job…we need to move now. The enemy will regroup soon.”
As they embraced, the tension and fear of the past hours melted away, replaced by a sense of camaraderie and shared triumph.
They knew the battle was far from over, but in that moment, they reveled in their small victory, and the fact that they still had each other’s backs.
But this satisfying moment didn’t lasted for too long
“AIRSTRIKE Incoming!”
someone yelled, and Arkhan’s heart sank. It was the worst time for the air support to come and their luck didn’t disappointed them .
He turned to see the missiles plummeting towards them, and his eyes widened in horror as one struck the ground mere meters from Tyler, sending a deafening blast wave crashing through the air.
Arkhan felt himself lifted off the ground, his body tossed like a ragdoll.
As he struggled to his feet, dazed and disoriented, he saw Tyler lying motionless, his body broken and battered. “TYLER!” Arkhan bellowed, his voice raw with anguish.
He stumbled towards his fallen comrade, but Ryder grabbed him, holding him back.
“Arkhan, no! We have to get out of here, NOW!” Ryder yelled, dragging him away from the impact zone.
Arkhan fought against Ryder’s grip, his eyes fixed on Tyler’s limp form. “We can’t leave him! We have to get him out!”
But Ryder’s expression was grim. “He’s gone, Arkhan. We have to save ourselves.”
As they stumbled through the chaos, the sounds of gunfire and explosions fading into the distance, Arkhan’s mind reeled with the thought of losing Tyler.
He couldn’t accept it. He wouldn’t accept it.
“TYLER! TYLER? WAKE UP!! GET UP, GET UP!” Arkhan’s voice was hoarse from screaming, his eyes fixed on Tyler’s broken body as it was consumed by the inferno.
He struggled against Ryder’s grip, his mind refusing to accept the horror before him.
Ryder’s hold tightened, his voice firm but laced with compassion. “Arkhan, we have to go. Now.”
But Arkhan’s gaze remained fixed on Tyler, his mind reeling with the thought of his friend, his brother, being torn from him.
He felt his world crumbling, his sense of purpose and meaning shattered.
As the flames engulfed Tyler’s body, Arkhan’s screams faded into a haunting whisper. “O god ! Tyler…Ty…“
