Chapter 14: How Is It? Do the Glasses Suit Me?

Fufu~ Today, I successfully dragged Michihito-kun to go out with me today. I met Michihito-kun purely by chance. It wasn’t like I was following him or anything. I just happened to meet him coincidentally. But, since we happened to meet anyway, I might as well have carried my ‘plan’ while I had the chance. My ‘Rock-Paper-Scissors Bulldog’ plan had ended in a complete failure the other day, so today was my chance to redeem myself. 

“Sarashina, where are we going?”

“Just follow me. You will know eventually.”

After walking for a few minutes inside the shopping mall, I pointed toward a simple store with mostly white decoration. 

“There.”

“A glasses shop?”

“That’s right!”

This was a recently popular chain glasses store that offered a wide range of glasses, from everyday wear to something more stylish. The store was pretty spacious and we could try the glasses as much as we’d like. In other words, today’s plan was “Operation: Let’s Make Him Try On Glasses and Touch His Face.”

Michihito-kun, today… You’re going to be a mannequin!

“Since I need to switch my clothes from spring to summer soon, I thought I’d also change my glasses to match.”

“Really? But I never see you with glasses, Sarashina?”

I picked up a pair of Boston-style glasses that were at the very front.

I said with a smile and Michihito-kun averted his gaze from me in an obvious way. 

“Ouf… It’s good, I think?”

Yes. Thank you, I’ve received an ‘ouf.’

“Do you think the glasses suit me?”

I said while sticking my tongue out at Michihito-kun.

“Good. Now then, let’s try this Wellington type first.”

“Your joke is cringe today. The mannequin should remain silent.”

Taking black-rimmed Wellington glasses from the front, I moved behind Michihito-kun and placed them on his ears. In the process, I lightly grazed his ear and cheek with my fingers. 

Huh? Today’s challenge is easier than usual? I can touch him just fine? Is he finally letting his guard down around me? 

“How is it?”

I peeked out from beside him and looked at the mirror, meeting his gaze through the mirror. He lowered his eyes shyly with his ears turning bright red.

Ahaha~ What’s this, what’s this?~ Are you feeling nervous? Are you happy that I’m putting them on you myself? Yes, yes. This is the kind of reaction that I want. He’s being very obedient today. Good, very good, Michihito-kun. Hurry up and fall for me already, so you can show me more reactions like this. 

“No, I mean, I really don’t get it… I don’t understand glasses.”

“Ahahaha~ Come on, are you feeling shy? Are you feeling conscious of me?”

“I’m not. Come on, we need to pick something soon before it gets dark.”

“It’s still morning though.”

“I need my private time to read light novels.”

“Hey, hey, Michihito-kun. How about these glasses? Do you like it?”

I put on the dark brown Boston-style glasses I had tried on earlier and then, I turned around while flashing him a bright smile. 

“Wait… Huh?”

However, Michihito-kun wasn’t here. Instead, there was some random man in front of me. The man nodded awkwardly at me. 

Huh? Michihito-kun should be here… He was right there just a moment ago… Looking around, I saw that he had somehow sat down in a chair, completely absorbed in reading his light novel. 

“Huh?”

I was so surprised that my mouth hung open.

Huh? What’s going on? His light novel should be in my bag… But more importantly…

I approached Michihito-kun and snatched the light novel from his hands. He let out a pitiful “Aaaah…” sound. It seemed he still hadn’t understood his position yet, so I decided to explain it to him. 

“You’ve got guts for drooling over a glasses-girl from a light novel while this beautiful Kisara-chan is trying on glasses right in front of you.”

In an instant, his expression of bliss changed into one of fear. 

“Wa-Wait. Sarashina, I can explain.”

Finally realizing his situation, his eyes widened and he began to step back. 

“Let me teach you the difference between 2D and 3D….”

I said while flashing him a sinister smile. 

After that, Michihito-kun’s catchphrase changed into,”So this is 3D….” Or something like that.
