Chapter 7 : Master’s Birthday
The requests made to the guild vary widely, from gathering items to hunting magical beasts. Adventurers typically select tasks that match within their abilities.
Whether to tackle these solo or with a party, I’ve always assessed my capabilities accurately. My mentor and other kind people have always taken care to ensure I wasn’t in over my head.
“But this might just mess with my senses.”
Before me lay the massive corpse of a Black Wolf, a beast known for its agility and ability to quickly tear apart its prey despite its size. Magical beasts have varying individual traits, and their estimated rank based on size or speed isn’t always reliable.
This particular Black Wolf was evidently stronger than its estimated rank and would have been impossible for me to defeat alone.
“You were brave enough to face a dragon… Oh right, I look like a human right now.”
That’s what Mira-san, standing next to me, said. The reason my senses felt off was that she had defeated this formidable beast in a single blow.
“I knew it, but even in human form, Mira-san is incredibly strong.”
“Of course. Plus, being with you, feeling the joy of our togetherness, boosts my abilities by about thirty percent.”
“That’s amazing… though I’ve never seen Mira-san at full strength.”
“Pray you never do—redrawing the world’s maps would become necessary if that ever happens.”
I should definitely be careful not to anger Mira-san in the future.
“……”
“Mira-san?”
I was contemplating how to transport the intact beast when I noticed Mira-san standing with her arms crossed, looking troubled. When I asked what was wrong, she began to speak slowly.
“I don’t want you to get hurt.”
“Yeah, I know.”
“That’s why I want to accompany you on your quests… but I wonder if it’s good for you if I end up defeating the beasts like this.”
“Ah, I see…”
I immediately understood her concern. Mira-san worried that by handling the difficult parts herself, I might feel inadequate and might not experience handling do or die situations.
It touched me that she considered this. To clear her mind, I needed to express my thoughts clearly.
“Well, I guess that’s true to some extent… It might feel a bit like being carried by a veteran in an MMO I played in my previous life.”
“MMO…?”
“Sorry, don’t mind it… Mira-san’s strength is exceptional, highlighting my own weaknesses. But rather than pushing me to be stronger, it doesn’t make me feel inadequate.”
“Really?”
I nodded.
“Of course, I want to get stronger. But realistically, I can’t surpass you. Trying to compete would just frustrate me.”
“True.”
“It might sound a bit pathetic, but walking alongside you, this should become the norm. Over the past week, I’ve realized how possessive you can be.”
Mira-san is indeed quite possessive. She’s by my side constantly, except when I’m in the bathroom or the toilet. Surprisingly, I don’t find it bothersome at all.
“Ultimately, Mira-san is an inseparable part of me. It would be endless to feel inferior every time I see your strength.”
“I see… that’s one way to look at it.”
“Exactly!”
I grasped Mira-san’s hand.
“I’m proud to have such a strong wife. And knowing you have a dragon form makes it even more exciting.”
“Oh, well…”
“Of course, I’ll continue my training. My mentor will keep instructing me. But I must also embrace the daily life that includes you, Mira-san.”
“Minato…”
My words flowed effortlessly. I’d never spoken so openly to a woman in my previous life. The perilous nature of this world must have instilled this courage in me.
“Mira-san, you said we should deepen our bond as we live together… so I should naturally show my willingness to accept and support you. We’re a couple, after all.”
A couple… It’s a bit embarrassing to say, but I’ve reached a point where I can’t imagine life without Mira-san. This acceptance isn’t forced; I genuinely feel joy having her by my side.
“Mira-san?”
Seeing her body tremble, I braced myself.
“Minatooo!”
“Ugh!”
As I expected, she leapt at me, hugging my head close to her b*****s and shouting with joy.
“I’m so fortunate to have a mate like you in my life.”
“Ugh…”
“I love you, Minato. I love you so much…”
That’s wonderful to hear, Mira-san… but your large b*****s are making it hard to breathe!
The situation is pleasant, but suffocating in a woman’s embrace would be quite the end!
“Phew!”
“Oh, sorry Minato…”
“It’s okay.”
It was a happy moment nonetheless. There’s one more thing I wanted to address.
“Mira-san, I don’t think I have the personality or the courage to misuse your power. But if I ever do, please stop me.”
“Haha, I doubt that will happen.”
“Still, when someone gains power, they might change.”
“True… but I’ll remember. Though I doubt it will be necessary, I’ll ensure you’re punished if it comes to that.”
It’s crucial she keeps this in mind. Afterward, we dismantled and transported the Black Wolf. Mira remarked:
“I’ve heard there are tamers here, right?”
“Yes.”
“Then think of it similarly. You’ve tamed a dragon like me.”
“That’s not wrong… if I entered a tamers’ contest, I’d win for sure.”
“Oh?”
Mira-san, why are you drooling?
She looks really excited, but there’s no way I’m going to enter those weird contests!
◇◇◇◇◇◇
A few days later, my Master’s birthday arrived.
Because there are so many guild members, the celebration was grand.
“Thank you, everyone… but those who will ask my age should know they won’t live to regret it.”
Despite some tense moments, Master seemed to enjoy herself. When things quieted down, I called her aside.
“Minato?”
“Master, this is for you.”
“Wow…”
I handed her a gift. It was a custom-made accessory shaped like a flower, crafted from rare minerals, durable, and resistant to dirt.
“Happy birthday, Master.”
“Thank you, Minato.”
She smiled warmly and accepted the gift. Mira-san, being considerate, was not by my side, but I wondered if she was feeling frustrated about being apart. After admiring the gift for a while, master leaned closer.
“There are many joys in my life, but my time with you brings me the most happiness.”
“I’m glad to hear that.”
“Since you arrived here over a decade ago, you’ve become so important to me. Minato, you mean everything to me.”
Her words made me look down, trying to hide my embarrassment, though I’m sure she noticed. I also want my Master to always be happy. She’s like a mother and teacher to me… an irreplaceable existence in my life.
“Master! Let’s drink more!”
“I—I can’t drink anymore…”
She was quickly surrounded by women insisting she drink more. We decided to discuss the gift and other matters later, and I returned to Mira-san. There, I found Saria-san and Jack with serious expressions on their faces.
Mira-san, after noticing I had returned, quickly sat next to me while clinging to my arm.
For some reason she suddenly started sniffing me.
“I smell Elysia on you.”
“Uh…”
“Well, it’s understandable for today. I’m not that harsh.”
It felt like I was being interrogated about an affair…
“So, Saria-san, Jack-san, what’s up?”
But soon I quickly regretted asking.
“We’re contemplating how to eliminate the obnoxious second prince.”
“We’ve brainstormed many ways but haven’t settled on a good one.”
“You two have definitely had too much to drink.”
Mira-san also burst into laughter as she was in favor with them… Ugh!
I can’t let this go unnoticed, I have to hear the whole story properly!
