Chapter 10 : Chaos at the Royal Banquet
“Thank you for coming, Lady Elysia.”
“I didn’t come here to see you.”
“Oh, that’s rather harsh.”
THe party at the royal castle had finally begun, and the main event was about to unfold.
“Besides, your formal way of speaking is quite unsettling.”
“Ha, my apologies. Appearances are important, aren’t they?”
The man who had been speaking so politely now began to wear a ferocious smile. This man was none other than Isaac Eld, the second prince who had summoned Elysia here to propose to her.
“You never learn, do you? I understand why you invited me here, but let me make it clear that I have no intention of accepting your proposal.”
By not outright rejecting him, Elysia was trying to be considerate. Isaac simply laughed at her clear words, showing no signs of being fazed. And then, an unwanted person disrupted the scene.
“What are you saying to Prince Isaac?!”
“Hmm?”
Standing before Isaac was a plump countess. It was clear from her appearance and demeanor that she had been raised with great care. From Elysia’s perspective, she had been subjected to many remarks from this lady. Any normal person might frown, but to Elysia, who had lived for a long time, this was nothing more than a childish tantrum.
“Again… You always look down on people!”
“I didn’t have any intention of doing that…”
Elysia really had no such intention. However, she knew that if she spoke her mind, this lady would only create more problems for her.
‘…If she gets angry, her body will heat up, and if she sweats, she’ll burn fat… At this rate, she’ll face serious problems in the future…’
While this concern was valid, it was not something to be voiced in this setting. Sometimes, hiding the truth and staying silent is also an act of kindness. Naturally, Isaac became irritated by the disruption and spoke in a low voice.
“Prince Isaac…?”
“Stay out of the way— do not interfere in our matters.”
At his strong words, even the countess had to back down.
“Why do you reject me so adamantly?”
“It’s simple. Why should I be with someone I do not love? It’s a perfectly reasonable stance.”
Sarah and Jack, who were watching, nodded in agreement. Incidentally, the first prince was on standby in case anything happened, while the king and queen remained silent, merely observing. They were not villains, but they believed that integrating elven blood into the royal line would bring prosperity to the kingdom.
‘It should be soon… Sarah and Jack mentioned that someone would come to take me away from here.’
Elysia had been informed of a plan to escape this situation. Moreover, it would reduce the Second Prince’s involvement in the future… though she didn’t know the exact details.
‘Should I just act along for now…?’
As she imagined someone coming to her aid, a beloved figure flashed through her mind, but she quickly dismissed it with a wry smile. After all, Minato was not the type to take reckless actions. This was the heart of the kingdom, a place where even with Elysia’s influence, outsiders couldn’t enter.
‘…Well, if he did, I’d be angry.’
While having such thoughts, Elysia kept her ears open. Isaac continued to profess his love and extol the benefits of becoming his wife. To Elysia, his words were tiresome, yet she understood that he harbored genuine feelings for her, though perhaps no one else could see it.
“I want you, Lady Elysia!”
“…Eh?”
Elysia, lost in disinterest, hadn’t been listening. But it went unnoticed because of the sudden commotion.
“Uwaaaaah!”
The scream made the soldiers guarding the venue tense up and ready their weapons. Not only the soldiers but also the princes and Elysia herself were equally on edge.
“What on earth…”
A powerful presence arrived, revealed when the balcony doors burst open.
“…What?”
It was a massive silhouette. A presence so imposing and yet beautiful — a silver dragon, a mythical creature, spread its wings majestically.
“Mira-san…?”
“A dragon…?!”
“Impossible… Why is such a being here…?”
Surprisingly, there was no panic in the venue.
Those who saw the silver dragon were captivated by its mystical aura and gasped in amazement at its sight and the mystery it exuded.
Neighboring countries might boast about taming wyverns and showcase their military strength, but this true dragon left everyone in awe as they were left frozen in place, and absorbed the sight in their memories.
In all this chaos, no one could hear Elysia’s voice… The best proof of that was that she had mistakenly spoken Mira’s name and no one questioned how she knew the dragon’s identity.
“…No way.”
Looking at Sarah and Jack, who nodded in return, Elysia understood. The one to take her away was none other than him. As she realized this, someone dismounted from the dragon’s back.
‘…Minato?’
A mysterious figure in a mask and suit… Elysia immediately recognized him as Minato.
“…Impressive.”
“Huh?”
Isaac murmured, and the countess looked at him in disbelief, but Isaac was simply staring in awe. Elysia didn’t fully grasp the situation. However, Minato extended his hand to her.
“I’ve come to take you away, Elysia — the one I love.”
While Elysia’s mind understood it was all an act and the answer to all their plans, her heart was captured by this single gesture.
Simply put, she was smitten.
