ーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーー
Among people who made streaming their job, I thought there were quite a few whose sense of day and night had become messed up. However, Mashiro-san was not one of those cases. She was the type who properly slept at night and woke up in the morning.
“Make sure to sleep eight hours every day! That’s actually pretty important.”
To be honest, when there were games I wanted to play or shows and anime I wanted to watch, I often stayed up late. But after hearing her say things like that, and as I started spending more time with Mashiro-san like this, we ended up sharing the same schedule. Because of that, going to sleep together, in other words properly securing that sleep time, gradually became a habit.
“…And well, that means there are days like this too.”
At the end of my gaze was Mashiro-san, still asleep.
“…Fuhe… fuhehe… Taka-kun… we just did it and already…♪”
…Just what kind of dream are you having?
Mashiro-san made her living through streaming, so it was fine for her, but I still had school today as usual. Since Mashiro-san was still asleep, I decided I would make breakfast today. When I tried to get out of bed, Mashiro-san grabbed my arm, probably unconsciously. Smiling wryly at her like that, I slipped out of her grasp and got out of bed.
“Normal toast, fried eggs, and miso soup should be fine.”
I wasn’t as good at cooking as Mashiro-san, so simple things like that were about all I could make. The fact that I already knew where everything was and where all the ingredients were kept made me feel strangely sentimental. It really showed how long I had been spending time with Mashiro-san.
By the time the toast was done, the fried eggs were cooked, and the miso soup was ready, Mashiro-san woke up.
“Sorry, Taka-kun. Onee-san overslept…”
“Good morning, Mashiro-san. Time-wise it’s totally fine.”
It was only around six thirty, so I thought it was actually early. There was no need for her to look so apologetic, so I gently patted Mashiro-san on the head as she had just woken up.
“Let’s eat together. Whether it’s delicious or not aside.”
It was simple… well, a pretty standard breakfast, so it shouldn’t taste bad. If someone said it tasted bad, that would mean I didn’t have a shred of talent. Maybe it was because I patted her head, but Mashiro-san’s face turned red and she hugged me tightly.
“…Good morning, Taka-kun.”
…She really was cute.
Just like that, Mashiro-san and I began eating breakfast. I had been worried about how well it was cooked, but personally I thought it turned out pretty well. Mashiro-san also said it was delicious, so I felt relieved.
After we finished eating and were washing the dishes together, Mashiro-san said something with a disappointed tone.
“…I couldn’t make you a lunch box. Even though as your wife I should be making a bento for my husband who works hard at school.”
Whether she was serious or joking… Well, judging by how downcast she looked, she was probably serious. That kind of expression didn’t suit Mashiro-san, who normally looked best with her dazzling smile. Thinking that, I ended up saying something like this, but it seemed the saying that the mouth is the source of disaster was true.
“Yeah… having Mashiro’s bento would give me the motivation to get through the whole day.”
And in response to Mashiro-san, I tried calling her just Mashiro, something I normally never did. Some people naturally disliked being called without honorifics by someone younger, but I was confident Mashiro-san wouldn’t hate it. Well, I didn’t plan on making it a habit though.
“…?”
I had finished washing the dishes and stopped moving my hands, but then I noticed Mashiro-san staring at me. Her face was red like before and she looked embarrassed… but the atmosphere around her felt incredibly happy. However, a moment later she suddenly gave off the aura of a warrior standing on a battlefield, rolled up her sleeves, and opened the refrigerator.
“Wait for me, dear. I’ll make your bento right now.”
“You won’t be able to finish making it in time, Mashiro-san.”
“Taka-kun, Onee-san is a woman who makes the impossible possible. It’s fine. If I control time, there won’t be a problem.”
“What does that even mean?”
That comedy-like exchange continued for a while, but I somehow managed to bring Mashiro-san back to her senses and left the room. Mashiro-san looked really disappointed, but she promised she would definitely make one tomorrow.
“Don’t feel bad, okay? I’m doing it because I truly want to. That just means I want you to eat my bento that much, Taka-kun.”
If she said something like that, I felt like I might lose myself from happiness. Also, after school today we planned to go shopping. The refrigerator was starting to look a little empty, and she also wanted to buy some daily necessities.
“Taka-kun, why don’t you start living in Onee-san’s room for real? Move all your things over here and let’s live together. That way you’ll save on rent and I already got permission from your father and mother. Hey, let’s do it, okay?”
That proposal was dangerous. The atmosphere almost made me nod without thinking, but at the last second I remembered why I had started living alone and stopped myself. Also, what did she mean she got permission… Just what did Dad and Mom say?
“…I’m still a high school student! Living together is… wait, why does that sound so unconvincing?”
At this point, I had already stayed over many times, so maybe it was too late to say that. Setting aside the other residents, even the landlord often said how close we seemed… I placed my hand over my chest. Feeling the thump-thump of my beating heart, I understood that of course I would feel nervous.
“Well then, I guess I’ll do my best at school today too.”
After changing clothes and packing my things, I left the apartment building. While walking to school, Mashiro-san made another energetic morning post just like yesterday. Today she wasn’t showing her cleavage, and she was wearing an apron over her clothes. Honestly it was the same outfit she had been wearing earlier. Even though her cleavage wasn’t visible like usual, the way you could still see the large curves through the fabric somehow made it feel even more provocative.
“…Let’s see, ‘a phrase you suddenly want to hear’?”
『If I have Mashiro’s bento, I could get through the whole day.』
“……………”
That was exactly what I had said earlier… Of course there was the difference between Mashiro and Mashiro-san, but it was basically the same. Mashiro-san must have been really happy about it. I liked the post and then slipped my phone back into my pocket.
Incidentally, as usual the post quickly filled with replies like “that’s sexy” and “I want to touch them,” but apparently within a few dozen minutes there were also around a hundred replies saying they wanted her to make a bento for them.
“Morning.”
When I arrived at school, I sat down at my usual seat and passed the time. Soon after, Souji came in a little later than me. We exchanged a simple greeting as usual, and after sitting beside me, Souji checked Mashiro-san’s post like it was a morning ritual.
“…Whoa, you’re looking at it again.”
“!?”
A girl from our class said that from behind Souji and me. Well, looking at something like that first thing in the morning might seem a bit much from a girl’s perspective. Then that girl, whose name was Aragaki, spoke again while her boyfriend Ooi wrapped an arm around her shoulders.
“Come on, it’s fine. It’s probably the only thing that can heal their lonely lives without girlfriends.”
“I guess that’s true.”
“Yeah, yeah. I wouldn’t want to live such a lonely student life though!”
“Lol. Seriously.”
Nothing about that was funny, you jerk. Leaving Aragaki aside, Ooi walked away while looking down on us with a completely condescending expression. It annoyed me that they came over just to say that, but I already knew he was that kind of guy.
“Tch, says the guy dating an ugly girl.”
“Souji, wipe your tears.”
For the record, Aragaki-san was actually a pretty popular girl in our class. Ooi was fairly handsome too and somewhat popular… but honestly, I had zero interest in the girls in our class, so I didn’t really care. I handed Souji a handkerchief as a joke, and some other friends came over.
“Don’t worry about it, Kudou-kun and Maeda-kun. Who cares what that jerk ‘riajuu’ says.”
“Yeah, yeah. Just because he got a girlfriend he thinks he’s hot stuff.”
…Do you guys want a handkerchief too? I’ll leave it to your imagination why I thought that.
Anyway, after that slightly unpleasant start to the morning, the school day passed without anything else happening. When classes ended, I headed straight back to the apartment building, where Mashiro-san was already ready, and we went out together.
“It’s gotten quite warm lately.”
“Yeah… thinking about it getting any hotter than this already makes me feel tired.”
It wasn’t quite a full summer yet, but it was hot enough that you’d sweat without short sleeves. Mashiro-san was wearing a T-shirt that reached to about above her knees. I wasn’t very knowledgeable about women’s fashion, but… it was loose and baggy. Because of that, her chest wasn’t emphasized that much, but even from a distance it was obvious she had a large bust.
“Fufu. A famous streamer might try to hide more, but I disguise a lot of things. If someone recognizes my voice it would be a problem, but visually speaking, no one would ever figure it out.”
“That’s true… You wear that black wig during streams, after all.”
That was to hide her natural blonde hair. During her streams she never mentioned being half, and she never talked about her hair either. So all of her viewers assumed Mashiro-san was fully Japanese.
“Come on, Taka-kun. Since it’s a date… well, the time is a bit short to call it that, but let’s hurry.”
“Okay.”
As Mashiro-san and I walked through the shopping street, we attracted quite a bit of attention. Just in case, Mashiro-san avoided speaking much and held my hand. Even though we tried not to stand out, people naturally looked our way. That was simply how beautiful she was and how impressive her figure was.
“Taka-kun, it might be a bit hot, but how about hot pot?”
“That sounds good.”
It was definitely hot, but it sounded delicious so I agreed. With today’s dinner decided, two familiar figures appeared in front of us. It was Ooi and his girlfriend Aragaki, the same two who had mocked us earlier that morning.
“…Ugh, it’s Kudou.”
“Huh, shopping alone looking all lonely?”
…You guys are annoying.
The two of them walked toward us as if intent on approaching us, and just as I was wondering how to avoid them, Mashiro-san pulled my hand and spoke loudly.
“Come on Takahisa, let’s continue our date♪”
“Eh… uh…”
She suddenly called me by my name, and pulled my hand like she was showing me off. Ooi and Aragaki stared at Mashiro-san in stunned silence and Ooi in particular had even turned red.
“…Hey!”
“Ow!?”
Some kind of argument started behind us, but Mashiro-san and I ignored it and kept walking. Along the way, Mashiro-san stuck out her tongue playfully and spoke.
“You’re not lonely at all. After all, Onee-san is right here beside you♪”
“…Haha, that’s true.”
Maybe it was a little wrong that, just for a moment, I felt like saying serves you right to those two.
