—Before Departure—
Tia’s POV
“Is it true? Their real target is…”
“Yes. The enemy’s target is definitely El-sama. We’ve tortured a few of the enemies we captured and they all said the same thing.”
“Yes, Your Highness. There’s no doubt about it. I was there too during the interrogation. It seems the enemy wants to have El-sama’s knowledge. They’re also promising El-sama’s baby seeds to their allied nations.”
“It seems they’re planning to use El-sama until he’s dry…”
“Oooh… They’re planning to do that to my El…?”
I see… I’ve been holding El dear to my heart for so long and finally, our hearts have come together. Yet… They want to take him away from me? They really think they could do that?
UNFORGIVABLE UNFORGIVABLE UNFORGIVABLE UNFORGIVABLE UNFORGIVABLE UNFORGIVABLE UNFORGIVABLE UNFORGIVABLE UNFORGIVABLE UNFORGIVABLE UNFORGIVABLE UNFORGIVABLE—
“Pri-Princess…?”
“Yo-Your Highness…?”
“Hm? What’s the matter?”
“No-No…”
“It’s nothing, Your Highness.”
“Well then, I suppose I will need to deal with the enemy myself…”
“””Your Highness?!”””
“Oh, please fret not. I’m merely going to bring down the hammer of justice to those who dare to try to take my El from me… Fufufu~”
And it turned out, I wasn’t the only one harboring that resentment.
“That’s right, Tia!”
“Princess Miria.”
“There’s no need for you to call me ‘princess’. We’re already tied together with Darling as our link. You can just call me Miria.”
“Okay, Miria.”
“Mother has heard about it too, that they’re targeting Darling. Mother seems furious. She’s going all out now. She’s going to crush the enemy forces to the ground. Everyone who has become one with Darling also feels the same way.”
“That’s reassuring to know.”
“Well, we’re only giving the people that dare to lay their hand on our Darling their righteous punishment though.”
“Exactly as you say, Miria…”

—Present Time—
Tia’s POV
When Rainrose Castle finally came into view, we clashed against the enemy forces.
“Archers! Forward!!”
“””YES!!”””
“Now! Fire!!”
SWISH SWISH SWISH!!
Rain of arrows struck down the enemy forces in unison. The one giving the command was Lean. She had demonstrated her exceptional intelligence during this war. She told us that archers were essential in thinning the enemy numbers before we engaged in close combat.
“Shield wall! Forward!!”
“””YES!!”””
The enemy launched their arrows attack as well and Lean quickly called for the shield wall unit. Those with shields held them above their heads, making a safety dome. The other troops dodged the incoming arrows while the archers continued to fire back in response.
Then, before long, the enemy forces broke through the rain or arrows. The archers then switched their gear with the makeshift Molotov bomb.
“Flame team!! Forward!! Throw everything at the enemy!”
The bottles shattered and flames engulfed the area in an instant.
“ARGHHH!!”
“HOT! HOT!! SO HOT!!”
“THE HECK IS THIS?!”
“HIIII!! I’M BURNING!!!”
“DARN IT!! STAY AWAY!! DON’T COME NEAR!!”
The burned soldiers ran away in panic, causing the fire to spread to their comrades. The battleground turned into a hellish inferno.
“Tia, thi-this is…”
“Yeah. It’s a good thing El isn’t here.”
Though I was filled with anger, but this scene was too much even for me.
“Indeed…”
“It seems El is preparing something to protect everyone in case something happens.”
“Our kind Darling wouldn’t be able to handle this sight.”
“…Miria.”
“Yes. Let’s annihilate all the enemies.”

Chapter 74: Growing Frustration
ーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーー
Dill’s POV
“Shit! What the heck are you all doing?!”
Angry roar echoed in the king’s chamber of Rainrose Castle.
“The reinforcements from our allied nations are taking forever to arrive and our useless soldiers are decreasing in numbers!”
“I-If I may have a word, that kind of weapon is-“
“I don’t care about that! You dare to defy me, the king?! It’s just a Molotov bomb anyway! If you’re getting burned, then take down one enemy along with you before you die!!”
“””….”””
“Y-Your Majesty! This is an emergency!”
“What is it now?!”
“Our forces are fighting against the enemy in the castle town. At this rate, if the enemy managed to break through our ranks…”
“Darn it!!”
This is bad, this is bad, this is bad…!! The enemy is not only strong but their numbers far overwhelms us! If only that man were in this castle, I wouldn’t be stuck in this situation! Should I order the troops to attack the enemy and retreat from this castle?
“GYAAA-!!”
“ARGHHH!!”
“UGAHHH!!”
What now?!
“E-Enemy attack!”
“””Protect Dill-sama!”””
“Impossible?!”
Where did they come from?! The enemy started engaging in combat right in front of me. However, it was clear to see that there weren’t that many enemies here.
“Darn it!! There’s not much enemy in here! All of you!! Attack them!!”
“I will go too.”
“Of course you will! Hurry up! Take down the enemy!”
“…Yes.”
The former queen dashed toward the enemy with a sword in one hand. She quickly took down two foes in an instant. I started to believe that she might be able to win this fight all by herself. However, just when I could see an inkling of hope… The former queen stopped moving.
The heck?! What is happening now?!

〜Miinya’s POV〜
Lean-dono devised an excellent strategy for today’s fight. The allied forces would attack the enemy from the front. Meanwhile, Princess Tia would lead a small squad through the secret passage only known to the royal family to invade the castle.
I was certain my mother must be waiting in the castle.
“Miinya, are you okay?”
“Absolutely, Madam.”
“Don’t push yourself too hard. You could die, you know.”
“Unfortunately, I don’t have any intention to die. After all, there’s a chance I might be carrying El-sama’s child right now.”
“Was that a jab?! A jab at me?! That was a jab at me, right?! Once this battle is over, I will—”
“Madam, please stop that. You’re about to do the so-called death flag, you know?”
“There’s now way I’m going to die and leave El behind! Miinya, you better remember this! I will be sure to get El’s hard and long thing too after this war!!”
“Ah, it appears I’ve forgotten it already.”
“Tch…”
“Hm. The two of you are too relaxed.”
“That’s right-aru!”
“If El-sama were here, he would be feeling exasperated, you know?”
“Yeah, pretty sure he will~”
“That’s right. I wonder what Maria is thinking, talking about that within all this confusion…”
“Speaking of which, I didn’t know Teresa was going to jump into the fray as well that day!!”
“Fufufu~ I guess I will need to call you ‘mother-in-law’ from now on?”
“I will kill you! I will definitely kill you!!”
We made our way down the secret passage. We quickly arrived inside the castle and charged straight into the king’s chamber while defeating any enemies we saw along the way. There were more enemies remaining in the castle than I had expected, but still… None of them were our match.
We can do this.
I thought to myself when I realized one corner of our formation was starting to break. Then… Our eyes met.
I rushed to her and clashed our swords together.
“Mother!! Why?!?!”
“I see you’ve come, Miinya.”
“Why?! Why did you attack Rainrose?!”
“You already know the reason why though? I’ve already relinquished the throne!”
Our swords continued to clash, causing a screeching metallic sound. It wouldn’t be long before our blades broke. Unlike in fairy tales, swords weren’t that sturdy, especially against other swords. Ideally speaking, I should be evading her attack while finding the right opening to attack her. Of course, I had another sword with me, but…
“Then why?! Why did you relinquish the throne?!
“Because I was enchanted..”
“-?!”
“I was enchanted by him. That’s why I’ve decided to offer my entire being to him.”
“I see.”
“You must despise me now. Because I’m acting like a maiden in love despite my old age…”
“I wouldn’t say that. I understand your feelings all too well…”
“So you have someone in your heart too?”
“Yes.”
“I see. This will be the end for either of us then…”
“It is.”
I rushed to her, closing the distance and then, I could feel my sword sliced through my opponent. Then at the same time, I could hear a fleeting voice coming from behind me.
“Be happy…”
But, I didn’t have the leeway to think about that. Because…
“YOU USELESS OLD HAG!!!”
