When we heard that Rainrose Castle had fallen, we doubted our ears at first. It must be a mistake… It had to be a mistake… No, we wanted it to be a mistake!

“What about the queens and Clara?”

“Clara-sama led the army and went to face the enemy forces. They had opted for a defensive position, but we don’t know what happened to her as of now. Furthermore, the whereabouts of Vega-dono and Spica-dono are still a mystery as well…”

Hmph… Clara, weren’t you supposed to serve me until the end of our lives? Why did you go and fight instead?! You do realize there’s no one that can replace you….

“The queens were on their way to safety, but…”

“What is it?’

“The queens decided to engage the enemy to prevent the pursuers… Their fate is… Unknown.”

“Those foolish people! Sure, if they were younger, I could understand why they would pick up the swords, but now?? All of them are treating their lives so carelessly!”

“Your Majesty! I will lead those who can fight and join the survivors!”

“Maria… Can I count on you?”

“Mother?!”

“It’s alright, El.”

True to her words, Mother quickly gathered the soldiers that could fight and departed from our territory. She merged her squad with the survivors from Rainrose Castle. The report said that they clashed with the enemy forces, but Mother managed to fend them off and return to our territory safely. 

In the meantime, Queen Heartness also made her move. Heartness and other allied nations would come to send reinforcements our way. The problem was how to survive through the enemy’s invasion until help arrived.

However, our worry turned out to be unfounded. There was someone named Lean-san among the survivors. She was the daughter of Prime Minister Clara. It seemed Lean-san deliberately let one of the enemy soldiers escape to spread false information that reinforcements from Heartness Kingdom and the other allied nations had arrived. To make the false information appear more credible, she tied up trees behind the horse to kick up dust, making it look as if we had a bigger army than we originally had. 

Lean-san pulled off something straight out of a manga, but to my surprise, she was the same age as me! She really earned my respect! Amidst all the problems, I eventually learned that the enemy was actually targeting me.

We were ambushing the enemy’s scout team when…

“Miinya!”

“Yes, Madam!”

I slashed through the enemies, moving in sync with my lady. Behind me, I had my reliable companions, Letty, Rinrin, Marin and…

“Haaaahh!!”

Slash!

“Argh-..!”

Teresa-sama continued to slash down the enemies one after another. She was as strong as ever. Time didn’t dull her skills in the slightest. If anything, she was even better than before! 

I couldn’t let myself fall behind. Anyone that dared to target El-sama, the person we all loved, had to be eliminated at all cost! I had grown stronger too thanks to the love I had received. I believed Letty, Rinrin, Marin and Teresa-sama also shared the same sentiment as me. 

“…Princess?”

But then, one particular voice piqued my interest. I turned my head to look at the owner of the voice and..

“-?! Why… Why are you here?!”

“And Your Highness too… Why are you here?!”

“I’ve abandoned my country and more importantly… If you are here, that means…”

“Yes. Just as you suspect, Your Highness.”

“My mother is…”

“We, from the Deva Kingdom, are here to bring the Rainrose Kingdom down together with our allied nations.”

Chapter 72: Miinya’s Decision

“Deva Kingdom is here to bring the Rainrose Kingdom down…?”

“…That is correct.”

“Why… Why would Mother..”

“…The one ruling our country right now is not Dia-sama anymore. It’s Dill-sama. A man, a rare existence in this world…”

“-?! Dill…”

“Dia-sama has entrusted all authority to Dill-sama…”

“We have already submitted to Dill-sama.”

“No way… That kind of thing…”

“There… There was no love. Something that seemed to be out of a dreamy fairytale… There was nothing like that in our kingdom.”

“Kara…”

“I believe I’ve said way too much. Anyway, Dill-sama is looking for someone named El. He wishes to bring El under him.”

“-?! So that’s the reason why Deva Kingdom is coming to Rainrose…”

“Judging from your expression… I take it you know who this El person is?”

“Indeed. He’s someone dear to me…”

“Where is he? Would you hand him over to us?”

“…Do you think I would hand him over?”

“I suppose not… Your Highness, I remember back then we were evenly matched. I wonder what about now? If I were to cut off your arm… Would you tell me where El is?”

“…The outcome will be decided in an instant. I will be the one standing before you.”

We both readied our swords and true to my words, the outcome was decided in an instant indeed. I moved faster than Kara, swinging my sword faster than her. That was all I did. The gap between us widened. I wasn’t the same old me anymore.

“I’m sorry, Kara. However, I can’t afford to lose. Not anymore.”

With a soft thud, Kara collapsed to the ground.

The attack was a success. We found out the enemy’s true identity, along with their motives. However, that was something I couldn’t tell El-sama. 

“Miinya…”

“Madam… You heard her, didn’t you?”

“If our opponent is truly the Deva Kingdom then… I think you should stay by El’s side.”

“All the more reason why I have to be on the battlefield.”

“…”

“My mother has gone astray. Therefore, it is my duty to stop her with my own hands.”

“Don’t push yourself too hard. El will be worried about you too, you know?”

“Yes, of course.”

“But still…”

“Is there something else bothering you, Madam?”

“Isn’t it weird that you get to be embraced by El before me?!”

“….It is anything but weird.”

“But El was the one that took my virginity though?!”

“That’s a very misleading way to say it….”

“I want El’s strong thing in me too… At this rate, maybe I need to sneak into his room at night…”

“I won’t let you sneak into El-sama’s room at night, okay?!”

“But I’m his mother!”

“And I believe El-sama doesn’t wish to hold you precisely because of that!”

El’s POV

And just like that, the allied forces had come. We gathered our forces and finally set out toward Rainrose Castle. We also met the daughters of Duchess Vega and Duchess Spica on our way to the castle. Each of them were leading their own armies. It seemed their parents had told them to head to the Altair territory if their parents failed to return. I must find Duchess Spica and Duchess Vega for sure. 

Of course, His Majesty and Lance remained in the Altair territory. Me? Well, to be honest… I was coming along with the allied forces to Rainrose Castle as well. Why?? Because Tia was leading the troops as well. Not just Tia though. My mother, Miria, Marin, Leila, Miinya, Letty, Rinrin, Kaira and Erin… Everyone joined hands to battle. Hence why I decided to come along as well because I couldn’t stop worrying about them. 

I was different from my old self. I had learned how to fight. Plus, I had made my own personal weapon too. I planned on using this weapon of mine when they were in danger. 

Clenching my weapon tight in my hand, I made my decision to join the fight.
