“Hey, Kanata…?”

“… Don’t say anything.”

“Is that even possible…?”

Kanata and Anise had seen it—Maria, the third princess of the Kingdom, mumbling to herself in the corridor in a bizarre manner.

“Haah… The joy of whispered words… Kyah ♪.”

Yes, Maria was acting very strangely, rubbing her ears and becoming overly excited. 

Rumours started spreading among the students, such as ‘Maria-sama has lost her mind!’ or ‘Maria-sama is possessed by a demon!’ She was truly acting out of character.

“Um, Maria-sama…? Is something wrong?”

“Oh? Did it look that way to you, Teacher?”

“It… it did.”

“Is that so? How strange… I’m just… Kyah ♪.”

Once again, someone shouted—Maria-sama had gone mad.

The usually calm and collected Maria was now acting giddy, and it caused quite a stir.  Kanata was in disbelief, his mouth hanging open, while Anise was slightly taken aback, even frightened.

“… Ah ♪.”

“!?”

“Hiii!?”

It was then that Maria noticed Kanata and Anise. She skipped over to them, causing Anise to panic and hide behind Kanata.

“Good morning, Kanata-kun! And why are you hiding, Anise ♪?”

Why was she asking questions yet smiling so creepily? 

Nonetheless, Kanata had a theory about what might have caused this. It was probably the ASMR from the day before yesterday.

(I thought she had forgotten about it yesterday, but this feels different…  No, wait! That’s still bad, but has she really changed this much… Huh?)

No. It was not yet confirmed that the ASMR was the cause. 

Maria was acting differently, but she was still Maria. Still, the atmosphere was such that something had to be done, prompting Kanata to think of a plan.

“… Hmm?”

Then, Maria stopped in her tracks and began looking around. After casting a puzzled glance at Kanata and Anise, the words that came out of her mouth were as follows:

“Did I… say something strange? Um… What?”

“Maria…?”

“Are you okay?”

“I’m fine…? I don’t feel off or anything. What’s the matter?”

Maria was completely back to normal.

Not just Kanata and Anise but also the other students who had been watching were equally surprised by the sudden change. Nonetheless, everyone breathed a sigh of relief, thankful she was back to normal.

“I’m going back to the classroom, then. See you two.”

“Yeah…”

“Bye-bye…”

The storm had passed. Both let out a relieved sigh, but Kanata felt compelled to investigate the cause of all this.

(Was ASMR really the cause…? If it was, does my voice have some sort of dangerous effect?)

Of course, that was not the case. What had happened could merely be described as a glitch-level spike in Maria’s mood. 

So, in essence, Kanata was not at fault. The fault lay with the fragile humans of this world—and others— who couldn’t handle the pleasure of ASMR. Their brains were weak!

“Kanata-sama.”

“Y–Yes!?”

“Alphana!?”

Alphana, who had not been around until now, had returned. 

Although she was petite, her presence was immense. Her saintly aura was both an object of admiration and fear among many students. Well, that might be an exaggeration, but even months after becoming a student, she remained incredibly popular.

What happened to Maria?

“Sure… I don’t mind.”

Kanata shared that he had sought help with adjusting the ASMR for the upcoming event in the Empire. 

He didn’t hide that Maria had acted somewhat strangely during the process, and he also mentioned that by the end, she seemed very satisfied.

“I must definitely investigate this.”

“Alphana…?”

“You don’t need Anise-san. I will suffice.”

At this point, Kanata tilted his head in confusion.

Placing a finger to her lips, Alphana voiced the proposal that Kanata had anticipated.

“May I visit your room today, Kanata-sama? Since neither Maria nor I can accompany you to the Empire, I’d like to assist you in this way at least.”

“That’s fine, but… Will you be fine, Alphana?”

“The Goddess’ blessings are with me!”

Ah, that’s reassuring… However, Kanata didn’t feel reassured at all.

However, Alphana had already made up her mind to visit Kanata’s room today. Even Anise, who was told she didn’t need to come, showed enthusiasm to join in.

(Alphana is acting the same way Maria did…)

When Maria visited his room, she appeared quite excited. Alphana’s current behaviour strongly resembled Maria’s at that time.

Yet stopping her now was impossible, absolutely impossible.

It was already certain that a new melody of chaos would be composed that day. Kanata also had things he wanted to confirm, so Alphana’s proposal was timely.

“… Maybe it would be okay if I reduce the output a bit?”
