The Carnivorous Maidens Living with Me - Chapter 38 & 39
Chapter 38: Holidays Get You Pumped, Don’t They?
After leaving the Shirasaki house, Tsukimi-san drove us back to my place.
We decided to unpack Sofia’s stuff tomorrow, and Hazuki said she’d sleep with Sofia.
Since it was a special occasion, I let them bathe together.
I insisted on bathing alone today, saying I was in the mood for it—keep that on the down-low.
Soaking in the hot spring, I let my thoughts wander.
“Feels like if this keeps up, even more people are gonna show up.”
My murmur fades with the steam.
The next morning, Sofia and Hazuki are in the kitchen.
Looks like Sofia’s getting cooking lessons from Hazuki.
“Shoma, what do you wanna eat?”
“Hmm, do we have any fish?”
“There’s salmon.”
“Then I’m craving meunière. That cool with you two?”
“Okay!”
“I wanna eat what Senpai wants!”
“Got it. Sorry to leave it to you. Once I’m healed, I’ll bake you a cake!”
“Yay!”
They giggle, kyakkya, as they cook together.
I’m really digging this vibe.
We finish breakfast and start unpacking Hazuki’s stuff.
“That’s about it. Alright, Hazuki, let’s go look for furniture you like!”
“Um… the stuff here’s already enough, though.”
“Maybe, but you just moved in. You should make it your own. There’s plenty of rooms to spare!”
“Right, Hazuki! I got to customize my space. Take advantage of it!”
“Is that okay?”
With sly grins, Sofia and I drag Hazuki to the big shopping mall.
“Whoa, it’s packed for the holiday.”
“We might get lost. You okay, Hazuki?”
“Ugh… uff, Senpai~!”
Hazuki’s getting swallowed by the crowd.
I reach out to her.
“Grab on.”
“Au, thank you… so much.”
Guess I’m getting used to girls thanks to Sofia and Hazuki—my body just moves on its own.
“Then this hand’s mine! Fufu~n.”
“Seriously, both hands full of flowers.”
“How’s it feel, sandwiched between two gorgeous girls?”
“Hah! It’s the best, obviously!”
“Love the honesty!”
The three of us shop together.
Sofia gently holds my injured hand, careful not to hurt it.
That’s the kinda thing I love about her~
“What kinda stuff do you like, Hazuki?”
“Well… my house had a lot of Japanese-style rooms, so I like things with a Japanese vibe.”
“Gotcha. But why not try something new? Check out some Western-style furniture—you might find something cool.”
“Hm, I’m kinda curious.”
We hit up the Western furniture and stuffed animal sections, buying whatever Hazuki liked.
I suggested a bed, but she prefers futons for comfort.
Passing guys and couples stare at us, and I realize again how stunning both girls are.
We arrange delivery, then head to a place famous for tasty hamburgers, chowing down and wrapping up the shopping.
“Hey, I’m thinking of swinging by my job to say hi. That cool?”
“Okay!”
“Yup! I’ve always wanted to check it out!”
We head off to my workplace.
Chapter 39: The Monster at My Workplace
What’s the first emotion people feel toward something different from themselves, something that stands out from the crowd?
Rejection? Disgust?
When did we start thinking we have to fit in with everyone else?
It’s not like that’s true.
Individuality is what makes people shine, giving them purpose to live life to the fullest!
Don’t worry about what others say!
Live true to yourself.
Was that my grandparents’ teaching?
※
“Let me warn you… the manager’s a monster.”
After shopping, we head to my part-time job.
I need to check in about my injury and apologize for the trouble with my shifts.
“What’s that mean?”
“Hm?”
“You’ll see when you get there.”
I time our visit to avoid the busy hours.
Karan
“Welco~me… oh my! It’s Sho-chan!!”
Out comes a giant of a man, easily two meters tall.
His muscles practically burst through his clothes.
And those muscles are wrapped in a frilly gothic lolita outfit.
“Wow!”
“Eek!”
Both girls give great reactions.
He’s a total first-impression breaker, our manager.
“Hey, Okama! Your outfit’s leveled up, but you’re gonna scare off customers!”
“Who’re you calling Okama~? It’s Okama-mama, got it~?”
“That’s a mouthful!”
Okama-mama leads us to a window-side table.
“What’s up, Sho-chan? Bringing such cute girls with you! Your injury’s not healed yet, right? No rush on shifts, take your time~.”
“These girls are my girlfriends. Thought I’d introduce them properly. Plus, Yayoi-san would kill me if I didn’t tell her.”
“Oh, that’s how it is? Hi, cuties! I’m the manager, Okama-mama!”
“Don’t just slip that nickname in!”
“Ugh, fine! And, yeah, Yacchan’s not here today. But you’re right, it’d be bad if she found out!”
“Is Yayoi-san at university today?”
“Family trip, she said. Told me to expect souvenirs!”
I haven’t seen Yayoi-san since she visited me in the hospital.
We didn’t talk much then, but I need to properly introduce the girls… or it’ll be scary later.
“So, you three, decided on the menu? Eat whatever you want~! It’s on Okama-mama!”
“Huh? No, we can’t—”
“Um, that’s too much—”
“Don’t worry, you two, take the offer. Thanks, Okama-mama! Love ya, Okama-mama! So grateful, Okama-mama!”
“Such a smooth talker~ I love that about you~.”
We already had lunch, so we go for dessert.
Sofia picks tiramisu and tea, Hazuki gets strawberry shortcake and lemon tea, and I choose mont blanc and black coffee.
As we eat the cakes, Sofia asks:
“Shoma, who’s this Yayoi-san you mentioned?”
“…I’m curious.”
I hesitate but figure these two will handle it fine, so I start talking.
“Yayoi-san’s my senior at this job. She’s a first-year university student, I think. And, well, she kinda gives off the same vibe as you two.”
“What’s that mean?”
“Super curious!”
They lean in, eyes sparkling with interest.
“Ever since I started here… she’s been, uh, really touchy. Like, physical touchy.”
They tilt their heads, still clueless.
“You two haven’t forgotten, right? You both came after me saying you wanted my body.”
“Oh! Yeah, that’s right!”
“Senpai’s body is pretty appealing.”
They forgot, didn’t they?
“She’s like the pioneer of that, or maybe the embodiment of terror… that’s Yayoi-san.”
“Now I’m even more confused.”
I sip my coffee to wet my throat and keep going.
“It’s not just touching my body. She bites and licks me, like Hazuki does. And she barges into the changing room while I’m getting dressed! That’s nuts, right?”
“That’s definitely nuts!”
“Yup, yup!”
“You two are just as bad.”
I press on.
“And I think Yayoi-san might have some unique… preferences.”
“Huh?”
Sofia lets out a goofy noise, caught off guard.
“You know I was pretty heavy when I started school, right?”
They nod eagerly.
“When I went for the job interview, Yayoi-san’s eyes lit up like crazy. She high-fived the manager, yelling, ‘He’s here!!’”
I heard this from a close senior who works with Yayoi-san.
“She gets confessed to a lot at university, apparently, but her way of turning them down…”
The girls lean forward.
“I’m not interested in your body. My heart and body belong to him!”
“That’s what she says! I might be overthinking it, but it feels like she’s talking about me. Plus, when I started going to the gym, she got visibly pissed. She’d make these calorie-bomb meals for our staff food, you know?”
The girls stare off into space for a moment.
Then, out of nowhere:
“Introduce us to Yayoi-san next time!”
“Yup, yup! The three of us girls need to talk!”
“Actually, there’s more.”
“More?”
“Yeah, and this is kinda the main point. If she was only into guys, it’d be fine, but…”
I lick my dry lips and drop the bombshell.
“I think Yayoi-san swings both ways.”
“What!?”
“Hm?”
They’re stunned by that one.
