The Boy Who Gave Up on Romantic Feelings ~I’m Done Because I Was Betrayed by The Girlfriends I Used to Date~ - Chapter 49
Chapter 49
From the next day on, I cursed myself for running away from Yamashiro.
“Good morning, Shintani-kun!”
“…Yamashiro.”
“Yamashiro…? We’re dating you know? I’d prefer you call me by my first name instead of my surname.”
“No, I rejected your confession, didn’t I? We’re not dating.”
“What are you talking about?”
“I said ‘I’m sorry,’ didn’t I? I rejected your confession.”
The class was in commotion because of that. It seemed that my rejection had caused quite a shock. Rejecting a confession from Yamashiro was something bizarre. Apparently, Yamashiro was that popular.
If an ordinary person had confessed to me and I rejected her, it wouldn’t have gone that far, but since it was Yamashiro who I rejected, it became quite a fuss in our school. However, two rumours started to spread in our school, the firs tone is that I rejected Yamashiro, which is true, and that I ‘threatened’ Yamashiro. Because of that, a lot of people became jealous of me.
Because of those rumours, I was often called to places like behind the school building and such. But I ignored it all. Something, they even resorted to more violent plans such as pouring coffee on my indoor shoes and such. It was like outright bullying at that point. Still, I continued to ignore it. I had a good idea who the culprits were, and I even confirmed it with acquaintances before reporting it along with the shoes to the teachers. I don’t know what happened afterwards, but compared to the teachers in my high school, who seemed to not care about it, I felt like they had taken a better approach.
Gradually, the bullying against me slowly decreased. Furthermore, by continuing to explain that I turned Yamashiro down, not threatened her, whenever I was asked about the rumours, those rumours gradually faded away.
There were some people who sympathized with me. It was a little comforting.
However, as the rumours faded away, Yamashiro’s became increasingly persistence.
She would constantly cling to me at every opportunity, and the worst part of it all was that she was stalking me. Perhaps she wanted to know the location of my house. Fortunately, I noticed her when walking back home.
Even after that, I was often followed by her after school, but I managed to escape her somehow. There were even times when I consulted it with the teachers, so I should had been able to continue avoiding troubles. Or so I thought.
“Good morning, Shintani-kun!”
“—huh?”
One morning, Yamashiro was standing in front of my house.
It was abrupt. I thought I shook her of yesterday.
“How did you find my house?”
“I asked Shirasawa-kun.”
…that’s impossible. There’s no way. He’s my best friend, and he cares about me…
I’ll ask him at school today. That should clear everything up.
Reluctantly, after arriving at school with Yamashiro, I headed to Shirasawa’s place.
“Shirasawa, did you tell Yamashiro where my house is?”
“Huh? What are you talking about?”
“Did you meet Yamashiro yesterday?”
“Of course not. Ask Kuroka. I was out bowling with him yesterday.”
“I see. Sorry about that.”
“…what happened?”
“Well, actually…”
I told Shirasawa everything that happened that morning.
“…seriously?”
“Yamashiro said that she got my address from you. You’re the only one who knows where my house is.”
“…no, there are other people who know.”
“…what?”
“…the teachers.”
“—hah? That’s impossible.”
“But if Yamashiro-san managed to convince the teacher to give your address…”
“That can’t be…”
But would the teacher really do something like that? My homeroom teacher isn’t the type to do such a thing…then how did Yamashiro manage to get my address…?
“…what should I do?”
“Should we tell Yamashiro-san to stop?”
“Do you really think she would stop?”
“Yeah, you’re right. Even the guys in Yamashiro’s class noticed that there is something off about her. If we could get their help…”
“However, won’t we be interfered by the Yamashiro Fan Club?”
“No, on the contrary, they might actually lend a hand. If you ask them to help separate Yamashiro-san from you, they’d probably be happy to help. Well, their sole purpose is to prevent Yamashiro from getting together with anyone, so there shouldn’t be a problem.”
“Well, if that’s the case…”
“Well, just try to convince to Yamashiro-san to leave you alone.”
“Yeah, you’re right. I’m tired of constantly worrying about what might happen to me on the way home. I’ll give it a shot.”
From that day on, I gradually began to take action to distance Yamashiro from me.
However, neither I nor the others had any idea that the worst incident was yet to come after this.
