Click HereThe world was pure white.
Everything was drowned in a blinding white, so bright it hurt my eyes. I couldn’t tell if my eyes were open or closed. I couldn’t discern what was around me or even where my own body was.
A white darkness, deeper than any black void, enveloped me completely.
Dirty, dirty, dirty, dirty, dirty.
No matter how much I washed, it never became clean. Once something is dirty, it never becomes clean again. It can’t go back. There’s no returning to the way things were. It can’t change. I want to change. I want to go back. I can’t forgive. I don’t want to forgive. I won’t forgive.
— Because you never become white and clean…
If I cut you up, mix you, lick you, suck you, drink you, and absorb you, we will become one, and maybe this time, you will be born pure and clean.
Then, maybe, just maybe, I might be able to love you.

“Well then, let’s finally buy Hoke-chan-sama and head home, Kuroda-kun.”
Finally, we could go home…
Shirai declared this as the sun had set and the surroundings were completely dark.
We had spent the entire day shopping, and now, I was loaded with bags in both hands, carrying more on my back. Even Shirai, with her endless energy, was carrying multiple bags. This was the definition of a shopping spree.
After walking around all day, I was exhausted. Considering everything that happened yesterday, and being drained a total of three times during our shopping trip, I could barely stand. I felt heavy and sore all over.
At this point, all I wanted was to go home. I wasn’t even sure if I could make it back with all these bags. Walking itself was a challenge.
“Hoke-chan-sama is just so cute!”
As planned, Shirai purchased the goofy-faced bird plush. She was hugging it with a big smile, showing no signs of fatigue. In stark contrast to my haggard state, her skin seemed to glow with vitality. Was she actually more energetic now than when we started?
“Shirai… I don’t think I can carry all of this and make it back,” I admitted, my voice strained with exhaustion.
She looked at me, her eyes softening. “Oh, Kuroda-kun, you really are hopeless sometimes, aren’t you?”
With a gentle sigh, she shifted some of the bags from my hands to hers, redistributing the load. “I’ll help you carry these. Let’s go home.”
We trudged towards the exit, my legs feeling like they were made of lead. Each step was a small victory. Despite everything, seeing Shirai’s radiant smile gave me a strange sense of peace. Even in this bizarre, exhausting situation, there was something comforting about her presence.

“Let’s put one here… and here… and here too… Yes, this way, there won’t be any blind spots!”
After we returned home, Shirai excitedly started unpacking the items we had bought. Meanwhile, I collapsed onto the sofa, exhausted. She took out a large number of small surveillance cameras and began installing them all around the room while fiddling with her smartphone. She was likely synchronizing the cameras with her phone to check their operation as she installed them.
After meticulously setting up the cameras, Shirai let out a satisfied “phew” and sat down beside me on the sofa.
“What do you think? We’re both captured nicely, right?”
She leaned in close, showing me the screen of her phone. There, I saw my own face, looking as if I had bitten into a sour lemon, alongside Shirai’s cheerful, radiant smile. Damn, she looked incredibly cute.
“…Yeah, they’re working perfectly.”
“Can you give the camera a smile and a peace sign for me?”
“…”
I did as she asked, forcing a smile and a peace sign.
On the phone screen, I saw an awkward smile that screamed discomfort. It was painful to look at.
“You really have an ugly smile, Kuroda-kun! Can’t you smile more naturally? Like ‘that time’ when you smiled so freely and genuinely.”
Shirai leaned in, her smile bright and expectant.
“Come on, Kuroda-kun. Smile! I want to see that smile again, just like back then. That grotesque, hideous, insane smile. Please, Kuroda-kun? Smile for me again like that, okay?”
I immediately understood what she meant by ‘that time.’
So, I was smiling back then…
“Ah, I see,” Shirai murmured, as if she had read my thoughts. Her cobalt blue eyes locked onto mine, unwavering.
“Kuroda-kun, you can’t smile like that anymore, can you? That’s a shame, but it can’t be helped. It’s all your own fault, after all. But don’t think this is the end.”
