As I brought out a finished dish, I saw Shirai inexplicably doing customer service. No wonder the restaurant was more bustling than usual—this was the cause.
At some point, Shirai had managed to change into the restaurant’s uniform. Our family restaurant’s female uniform was known for being cute.
A frilly pink mini-skirted, busty waitress had been born. Just one look and I couldn’t help but think she was ridiculously adorable.
Shirai, a beauty far surpassing any ordinary idol, was serving customers with a smile, her large bre**ts bouncing as she moved.
Thanks to her, the restaurant was at full capacity. There was even a line forming… at a chain family restaurant? I’d never seen such a thing in my time working here.
That goddess is really something else. Truly terrifying.
“No doubt about it, Kuroda-kun, your girlfriend is really pretty. We’ve never had this many customers before.”
The manager suddenly appeared beside me, looking impressed as he gazed at Shirai, his eyes slightly glazed over.
“Manager, you’re drooling a little.”
“What?! Oh, sorry, sorry… But can you blame me?”
“I get it…”
The “that” the manager referred to was undoubtedly Shirai’s large br**sts. They jiggled with every step she took, an undeniable attention grabber for everyone in the restaurant. Men and women alike were captivated.
“But why is she doing customer service in the first place? She’s supposed to be a customer herself.”
“Well, it was her suggestion. She said, ‘I don’t want to just take up a seat while watching over Kuroda-kun, so could I help out somehow?’ Given that, I thought she might as well help with the service.”
Allowing Shirai to handle customer service without any training or guidance was quite a bold move. I thought the manager was just as crazy as Shirai.
“But seriously, at first I thought she was a bit scary, but Kuroda-kun, your girlfriend is not only cute but also incredibly sweet. She picked up customer service skills so quickly with just a little guidance. She’s really amazing. Where did you find such a great girl, Kuroda-kun?”
“Well, Shirai isn’t actually my girlfriend.”
“What?! Really?! After all that?!”
“After all that, yes…”
“I mean, come on… right?”
The manager kept referring to Shirai as my girlfriend, and given the circumstances, it was understandable why he would think that.
However, Shirai and I aren’t in a relationship… I think. We’ve been intimate, but we haven’t exchanged any words that define us as a couple.
What is my relationship with Shirai, really?
“Kuroda-kun is quitting, so I wonder if his girlfriend could take his place. I’d hire her on the spot.”
“I’ll ask her, just in case.”
I doubted it would work, but it felt like a waste to end her stint as an adorable waitress after just one day.
I looked at Shirai. She was smiling, charming the customers with her friendliness. They laughed together, likely at some light-hearted joke.
She was perfect in appearance, had no issues with interpersonal skills, and performed the job flawlessly. She was an impeccable goddess, angel, and saint.
But inside, she harbored intensely dark and twisted emotions.
And I did too.
Watching her interact with others, a dark feeling welled up inside me.
Jealousy.
In the end, I was just one of the many captivated by Shirai. The worst part was that I couldn’t control my feelings and had allowed them to fester to the point of insanity.
“Oh… Kuroda-kun, this might be bad.”
I saw that Shirai was surrounded by a group of delinquent-looking customers.
With this many people around, it’s inevitable that we’d get some unsavory types.
“Hey, cutie. Are you a new hire here?”
“Oh no, I’m just helping out for today.”
“Is that so? So we only get to see you today?”
“Wow, no way! I was thinking of becoming a regular here if there was a cute waitress like you. But just today, huh?”
“Come on, you should work here regularly. Then we could see you all the time.”
“Yeah, if you stay, we’d come here every day and order tons of stuff.”
“It’s a tempting offer, but I’m afraid it’s impossible. I have too many things to do normally, so I don’t have time for a part-time job.”
“That’s too bad. How about this then? Wanna hang out with us after your shift?”
“That’s right! Meeting here today is like fate. You gotta come hang out with us!”
“Yeah, come on! We’ll wait for you to finish your shift, and then we can all have fun together! It’s settled!”
“And you’re a student, right? Tomorrow’s Saturday, so you don’t have school. We can party all night!”
“Tonight’s gonna be unforgettable! I’m getting excited!”
Amidst the group getting all worked up without even considering Shirai’s opinion, she tilted her head in confusion.
“I don’t really understand what you’re saying… but for now, I’ll decline.”
“Huh? Not feeling the vibe?”
“What are you saying? You can’t just get us all excited and then say no to the waitress.”
“Our plans are already set, though.”
“Just shut up and do as you’re told.”
One of them put his arm around Shirai’s shoulder.
I saw it.
Suddenly, blood rushed to my head.
Before I knew it, I was running reflexively.
And of course, my destination was Shirai.
With the momentum still intact,
I swung with all my might at the guy who touched Shirai.
