A Sweet Yet Bittersweet Weekend Afternoon. Part- 1.
I sat in my room, switching my phone screen on and off repeatedly.
What a pointless way to spend a weekend—I knew that myself.
The hesitation stemmed from a single message. I kept staring at my chat with Watanuki-senpai, over and over again. Should I send it? “Would you be free to discuss the contract tonight?”
The week was already coming to an end, and yet, I still hadn’t mustered the courage to bring it up.
This week had been as peaceful as ever. Study sessions with Watanuki-senpai, lazy days when club activities were off—I’d spent my time idly in my room. I had no willpower, huh?
But, well, I still had plenty of opportunities. If this week didn’t work out, there was always next week.
“Eventually, eventually.”
Muttering that to myself, I powered on my gaming PC.
Since I’d been spending most of my weekdays with Watanuki-senpai, I’d fallen behind on my usual content consumption.
Laughter rang out from the living room downstairs—Mei’s loud, cheerful voice. She probably had friends over. I put on my earphones to block it out.
I opened a bookmarked video site, spreading it across the wide monitor I’d bought back in middle school. Pure indulgence.
What should I watch first?
“Oh. Meloril streamed yesterday.”
Judging by the timestamp, it was right around when I was on the special relaxation course. I’d been too busy watching adorable chinchilla videos with Watanuki-senpai to notice.
Meloril had been a streamer I used to play FPS games with all the time back in middle school.
Back then, she would often scold me outside of his streams, saying, “A middle schooler shouldn’t be gaming for hours in the middle of a weekday.”
Nostalgic… though she was the last person who should’ve been saying that, considering she was drinking and grinding ranked matches in broad daylight.
And now? She’d become a corporate-backed, high-level gaming VTuber. Life sure is unpredictable.
Her stream title from yesterday read:
“【First Time ASMR】 A Slightly Older Girl Friend Cleans Your Ears! Just Relax and Let Yourself Be Healed~♡【For Sleep】”
“…I see.”
I found myself nodding unconsciously.
Well, I was just appreciating her willingness to try new things, you know? Not that the title itself caught my attention or anything. Probably.
Still, watching a friend’s stream like this… was it okay?
But then again, the title did include “Let yourself be healed.”
And I was still on my journey to mastering relaxation techniques. It would only be right to check it out for educational purposes.
Yes. That’s right.
I successfully convinced myself.
Feeling an inexplicable sense of guilt, I clicked on the thumbnail, which featured a pink-haired beauty flashing an enticing smile—
“Touyaaa. Got a sec?”
Just when it was getting good…!
A knock at the door. I quickly answered.
“Ah, uh—yeah, I guess I can. What’s up?”
Normally, Mei would barge in without a second thought. Something felt off.
“Hmm, you’ll see if you step out. Oh, by the way, are you dressed properly right now?”
“Uh, yeah? I changed after my morning shower, so I should be fine. Wait, hold on—don’t tell me I’m about to be surrounded by your friends again. Spare me.”
“Don’t worry, don’t worry! Just come out, and you won’t regret it☆”
That piqued my curiosity. What was going on?
I took off my earphones, stood up, and opened the door—
“Hello, Amemoto-kun. We’ve brought you some treats.”
“Huh?”
I froze at the sight of the unexpected guest.
Watanuki-senpai.
On a weekend.
Still in her school uniform.
Somehow, despite not sending that message, I now had the perfect chance to talk to her.
Next to her, Mei—dressed in casual loungewear, but fully made up—held out a large plate with a grin.
“We baked chocolate cookies together! C’mon, Touya, have some with us!”
“Wait, homemade? I mean, of course I’d love to, but… Watanuki-senpai, don’t you have an archery club on Saturdays?”
“Yeah, but today was mostly a meeting, so we finished earlier than planned. Since I had some extra time, I contacted Mei-san, and she invited me over after school.”
“Yup, yup! Remember how we put our celebration on hold last time? We figured we’d resume it with homemade sweets this time! Right, Senpai?”
“Right.”
The two of them exchanged smiles, giggling.
The warm scent of freshly baked cookies filled the air—a perfect weekend moment.
And yet, I was breaking into a cold sweat.
Mei was one thing, but if Watanuki-senpai walked into my room right now… I was in trouble.
“Let’s eat in your room. I like having snacks there.”
“Me too~! Touya’s room is always so tidy, it’s really relaxing!”
“Wait—!”
Before I could stop them, they stepped inside, as if it was the most natural thing in the world—
And then they both froze.
Their gazes locked onto my wide monitor.
“Huhhh? What’s this video?”
“Hmm… ‘A Slightly Older Girl Friend Cleans Your Ears! Just Relax and Let Yourself Be Healed~♡'”
The title was read aloud. Loud and clear.
Even though the AC wasn’t on, the room suddenly felt ice-cold.
“Amemoto-kun!”
“No, wait, this is—uh, um—!”
Before I could make an excuse, Watanuki-senpai closed the distance between us with alarming speed.
Her expression?
That pre-lecture kind of displeased look.
I was about to be scolded. I braced myself—
And then, in an exasperated tone, she said:
“You know, you could’ve just asked me. I am a slightly older girl friend, after all. I’d do it for you anytime—ear cleaning or whatever else. You should rely on me more.”
“…Huh?”
“Do you have an ear pick? Let’s do it right now.”
I… what?
Not only did she let it slide, but now she was actually offering to act it out?
Something about this felt very wrong.
“N-no, you see… This was purely for, uh, research! I was just studying relaxation techniques, not because I actually wanted it or anything—”
Before I could finish, Mei placed a hand on my shoulder.
“Sometimes, I wanna do my best for you too, Touya. Just sit back and let yourself be healed~♡”
Ah.
I’d forgotten.
When surrounded by older girls, there was no escape.
Resigned to my fate, I handed over the ear pick.
Senpai sat down, patted her lap, and smiled.
“Come here?”
…Yes, ma’am.
Pillow privileges accepted.
