- Chapter 1.1 - My Fake Girlfriend Won’t Break up With Me
I—Kuwazome Hakuto—am in the same class at Seimei High School as a beautiful girl who has captured the hearts of many boys.
Her name is Shirafuji Luna, and she has maintained her position as the top student since her first year.
On top of that, being a half, her looks are as good as any model or celebrity.
She has shiny silver long hair and clear sky-blue eyes.
Her facial features are defined by a sharp outline, and her expression is always a detached and emotionless one.
Some might find her cold.
However, I knew that she just rarely showed her emotions.
The feminine roundness of her cheeks, the bridge of her nose that divides her face in two, and her pink lips shaped like a flower bud are not mere decorations.
Along with her well-proportioned figure, even visible through her uniform, she constantly exudes an ethereal charm.
When a boy passes by her, he can’t help but stare and follow her with his eyes.
At school, boys make reckless confessions to her nearly every week, only to be rejected.
This cold but beautiful girl is Shirafuji Luna…
“Shall we go home, Hakuto?”
A little while after the last class ended.
After preparing to go home, Luna stood up from her seat and wrapped her arm around mine without waiting for a reply.
The soft touch on my arm.
As she pulled me along, I told her, “Wait a moment,” to the eager Luna, while stuffing my remaining things into my bag with one hand.
“Those idiots are at it again, huh?”
I let out a quiet sigh upon hearing a voice from somewhere.
“Idiot couple.”
That referred to Luna and me.
We have been dating since November of our first year, six months ago, and we openly admitted it.
So, everyone at school probably knows.
“Why is our Shirafuji-san with such a guy…”
“If you don’t want to be disliked by Shirafuji-san, you should be quiet.”
The conversation I overheard was filled with jealousy and envy directed at me.
However, another person was admonishing them.
The reason was quite simple.
“…Hah.”
Just a single, small sigh.
The source was Luna, who didn’t let go of my arm while shooting a cold glare at the people talking.
In her clear sky-blue eyes, disappointment and disgust were clearly visible.
“—Luna, let’s go home.”
To avoid unnecessary quarrels, I pulled on Luna’s arm, and she reluctantly averted her gaze from them and followed me.
We walked out of the classroom, through the hallway, and maintained silence until we exited the entrance. It was only after we passed the school gate and the number of people around us decreased that Luna finally spoke.
“I really can’t believe it. You should know how I feel if you mock Hakuto in front of me.”
“Luna, you worry too much. It’s not my fault my face is bad.”
I replied while trying to calm the clearly upset Luna.
One reason why they talk about me is that I’m dating the most beautiful girl at school, but the biggest reason is probably my face.
People say things like “You must be fighting every day” or “He seems to have connections with shady business people,” just because I have a scary face.
Even when I’m just being normal, my sharp hawk-like gaze can make me seem intimidating.
My deep facial features can make me look angry even when I’m expressionless.
My eyebrows are thin, and my hairstyle is just a messy short cut that leans towards that type of look.
Moreover, my decent physique probably doesn’t help either.
I’m almost 180 cm tall, with a solid build.
I only do light running and a little bit of muscle training in the morning, and this is how I look.
I practiced karate in elementary school at my dad’s suggestion, but I quit within a year, so that shouldn’t matter.
There’s absolutely no basis for the rumors about me, and I can confidently say that I’m a clean person who doesn’t do those things.
Because of this, I can only have proper conversations with a few friends at school.
The majority of the students either avoid me or treat me with hostility.
…However, there are exceptions to everything.
Luna suddenly stopped.
As I stopped as well, her hand reached toward my face.
Pat.
Her hand, resting on my cheek, was slightly cold and felt nice.
“I don’t understand what’s scary about this face. I might lack friendliness, but my eyes are gentle, and when I smile, I’m so cute.”
“Hey, don’t touch me too much; it tickles.”
“It’s not going to go away, so it’s fine, right?”
I thought about pushing Luna away as she happily touched my cheek, but since she was standing on her tiptoes, I was afraid that if I forced her, she might fall.
Worrying that I might hurt her made me lose the will to resist, and I ended up supporting her back so she wouldn’t lose her balance.
…Seriously, how sweet am I?
After Luna was satisfied with touching my face, we walked side by side, matching our pace. After about ten minutes, we arrived in front of the apartment where I live.
Due to certain circumstances, I moved away from my hometown and my family to live alone.
I had been taught household chores from a young age, so I had no trouble living alone, but I wonder if I can really call my current life living alone.
Because—
“You finally came back. Now we can talk without worrying about being seen.”
“…Really, you just flow into my house so smoothly.”
“It’s a familiar place. It’s next door, so the layout doesn’t change.”
Though we are teased as an “idiot couple” at school, there is one connection that no one else knows about.
That is, Luna and I live in the apartments next to each other.
However, up until we started dating, there was nothing inappropriate about our relationship.
I had only visited Luna’s room once to greet her when she moved in.
Yet, after we started dating, about a month later, it became common for us to spend time together until bedtime in my room.
Luna wakes up early and comes over for breakfast, and we eat dinner together.
The only things separate are the bath and sleeping, but if I don’t say anything, Luna would probably stay over forever.
