Chapter 21: Just a Little Bit
After that, I wasn’t allowed to touch my phone anymore.
So instead, I spent the time gently patting Aira as we lay there together… until it was already time to get up.
Now I was in the living room, casually chatting with Nee-san while purposely dragging out my breakfast as long as I could.
“I’m heading out now~! Your lunch is on the table, same as always~”
“Okay. Take care—and good luck today.”
With that short exchange, Nee-san headed off to work like usual.
Once I heard the front door click shut, I turned toward the empty space beside me—where Aira was probably still floating around—and called out to her.
“Aira, I already started eating this half, but I haven’t touched that side yet. Want it?”
I’d been eating slowly on purpose, just so I could leave a clean half behind.
Totally part of the plan.
“Is it really okay?”
“Of course.”
“Will you feed me?”
“…You can feed yourself.”
I mean yeah, her clinginess was definitely cute—but come on, there’s a limit.
If I kept spoiling her like this, it’d never end.
Besides… well, it’s not like I was embarrassed or anything.
I just needed to finish eating too, that’s all.
“…Okay. But I want that side.”
Aira looked at my portion and pointed to it with a little pout.
“…Wait, you do realize this side’s already half-eaten, right?”
I mean, yeah—we’re family, so it’s not like an indirect kiss would be a big deal or anything.
But still, there’s a perfectly untouched portion sitting right there. Wouldn’t that one make more sense?
“I want it.”
“Well, if that’s what you want, I don’t really mind… You sure about it, though?”
“Yeah.”
“…Alright then.”
Maybe she had her eye on that half from the very beginning.
Not like I had any real reason to say no—so I just nodded and went along with it.
“Aira, I’m gonna go change into my uniform.”
After finishing breakfast, I hung out in the living room with Aira for a little while longer.
Honestly, I was just relieved I didn’t have to spend extra money on her breakfast from the convenience store today.
But time was ticking, and I had to start getting ready to head out—so I gave her a heads-up.
“…Um, why are you following me?”
As I got up from the couch and headed toward my room, Aira stood up too… and for some reason, started trailing right behind me.
I glanced back and gave her a look.
“I wanna be with you. Is that… not okay?”
“…I’m just gonna be gone for a minute, y’know.”
“I don’t wanna be apart.”
“…I mean, I’m changing clothes, though.”
“You don’t mind, right? I’m your daughter.”
Aira tilted her head slightly as she said it, like it was the most natural thing in the world.
“Well… yeah, that’s true, but—ugh, fine. Do whatever you want.”
I mean, it’s not like letting your daughter see you in your underwear is a huge deal or anything.
So I swallowed the rest of what I was about to say and gave her a nod.
Besides, I already changed in front of her yesterday anyway, so… yeah. No point arguing now.
