The adorable Villainess is mine - Chapter 6- The main character
Carter had telekinesis, but he wasn’t nearly as strong as Kai.
Kai stood at the top of the hunter world—someone powerful enough to hold down a massive dragon with just his mental force so others could attack it.
In this world, everyone has a unique ability.
Lia, for example, could adapt to any element she came in contact with. She could enchant her weapon—and later, even her body—with that element.
Grace’s power let her create barriers, which she used both to defend and to strike.
But now, Carter has changed the flow of the story. So, their strength might vary in comparison to their canon counterpart.
Grace was supposed to disappear by this point, and Lia’s attention was meant to shift elsewhere—mainly toward the members of her growing harem.
Around this time, Lia would start getting closer to Carter and begin slacking off on her training.
So when the academy was attacked, she nearly ended up dead.
Carter didn’t care much about how things were supposed to play out this time, but one thing was certain—he was going to protect Grace.
He knew the attackers would be after the stronger students—and Grace was one of the best fighters in the academy.
His goal was simple: avoid getting involved with Lia and make sure Grace survived the ambush.
“What are you thinking about so deeply?” Lia asked, as she suddenly entered the room.
Carter sighed. ‘So much for keeping my distance from the main character.’
Still, he couldn’t blame her—he was in the planning room, after all.
“Nothing… just figuring out where to raid next,” he lied, folding the map that held the academy’s blueprints.
The black-haired girl leaned against the table and tilted her head. “You didn’t show up for morning training.”
“I was taking care of Grace,” Carter replied with a quiet hum. “She got badly hurt… because of me.”
He didn’t plan to place all the blame on Lia. If it weren’t for him, she wouldn’t have even known about Grace’s condition.
Lia frowned. “Are you seriously regretting what happened?”
Carter met her eyes. “I keep cursing myself over it… again and again.”
Lia stood straight, clearly upset. “After what she did to you… how can you still feel sorry for her?”
“It was a misunderstanding,” Carter said with a sigh. “She didn’t save my nanny because she didn’t want to. It was Lara’s decision, not Grace’s.”
Lia scoffed. “She’s just making that up. You know how obsessed she is with you. Of course, she’d lie just to get your attention.”
Carter slowly raised a finger and pointed at his mouth. “This can lie,” he said. Then he pressed the same finger to his temple. “But this can’t.”
“I read her memories,” he continued, shaking his head. “And when I did… I realized what a scumbag I’d been—how horribly I treated her without even knowing the truth.”
Lia froze, stunned.
He… read her memories?
And forgave her?
How was that even possible?
“Then what about the things she said about me? The insults I endured? Do they mean nothing to you?” Lia snapped.
Carter raised a brow and turned toward her, asking calmly, “What am I to you that I should be upset on your behalf over Grace?”
Lia fell silent.
She couldn’t say it.
She had feelings for him—deep ones—but she couldn’t confess. Not now. That would be unfair to the others.
Carter rolled his eyes. He didn’t need to read her mind to know what she was thinking.
Shaking his head, he said, “Lia, I’ve forgiven Grace. And I want to make things right with her. So… I won’t be coming here anymore. Not to train either.”
Lia’s eyes widened in panic. “What do you mean by making things right? Are you seriously thinking of getting back with her?”
No—he couldn’t be. Feeling guilty was one thing, but Carter had always been in love with her. He’d said it, in his own way, more than once.
He wouldn’t change his heart so easily.
But Carter didn’t respond. Not until he reached the doorway.
And just before stepping out, he said quietly, “Let’s be good friends, Lia.”
Lia spun around to see him walking away.
No smirk. No sarcasm. No sign of regret.
He wasn’t joking.
He meant every word.
He really wants to get back with his ex?
No… wait.
Her eyes narrowed.
Now I get it…
She’d been putting off her answer to his unspoken confession for a while now. Maybe this was his way of making her jealous. A move to push her into finally giving him a reply.
A smile slowly crept onto her lips as she shook her head.
“Really, Carter… you’re going this far just to make me say it?”
With a sigh, she sat down and gazed at the ceiling.
But her smile slowly faded.
And in a quiet voice, she muttered, “I feel bad for Grace though… she’s going to get hurt again…”

A/N:- Thanks for reading.

Naturally, Lia’s not going to believe him when he says that, due to their history together. And her “delusion” and ego is pretty plausible and realistic. It’s like the protags in the “reincarnated as a scumbag netorare villain” genre who deludes themselves cartoonishly with no shame.
🤘 in many LNs, of the “reincarnated in a scumbag netorare protagonist” genere, the main character wich loses his heroins often delude himself. and he does that with no shame, no rationale and cartoonishly so. something offputting and unrealistic.
here, Lia, is somehow more accepteble; yes, she has an ego KAIJU-like. her ego is so powerful…like a Jojo stand. but it’s nevertheless plausible!
mad ups, author
Well, you are going to get hurt 😅.
