Chapter 07: The Abandoned Prince Commissions a Magic Tool
After Rosemary’s Dragon Roar completely wrecked the bathhouse shower, I felt at least partially responsible. So, I decided to help with the repairs.
Thanks to Perfect Regeneration, I could fix objects as well.
I could repair broken parts on the spot, so I should be able to contribute somehow.
Besides, I was curious about the Empire’s technology.
Just as I was thinking that, Rosemary mentioned that she wanted to introduce me to someone.
“Reyshel, this is—”
“NUUHAHAHA!! A proper introduction should always be done personally!! I am Yelona, the Director of the Imperial Magic Tool Development Bureau!!”
The person before me was a woman dressed in work clothes.
Her lemon-colored hair covered most of her face, making it impossible to see her expression.
How could she even see through that?
The only thing visible was the corner of her mouth, where a sharp fang glinted.
She was about the same height as me, maybe a few centimeters taller.
According to Rosemary, Yelona was an incredible person—one of the masterminds behind all the magic tools in the Empire.
Apparently, she was the one who came up with the idea for the Empire’s magic-powered locomotive and actually built it.
Feeling a bit nervous, I bowed politely.
“N-Nice to meet you. I’m Reyshel.”
“Mm-hmm! Nice to meet you too!! Now, let’s get started on the repairs!!”
Rosemary mentioned that she was heading out for her daily training and quickly left the bathhouse.
After that, I followed Yelona’s instructions—fixing parts, handing her tools, and assisting however I could.
Fixing things was one thing, but just passing her tools? Honestly, I wasn’t sure if that was necessary… but surprisingly, it seemed to improve efficiency.
That’s when trouble struck.
“Fuhii~! It’s so hot today~!”
“…”
…It was an unexpected and dangerous kind of problem.
Feeling warm from all the work, Yelona casually took off her work jacket and tied it around her waist.
And that’s when I saw them—two enormous bombs.
I wanted to say How the hell did those even stay hidden?! because her chest was ridiculously big.
She wore a cropped, sports-bra-like top that exposed her stomach. It wasn’t flashy, but the effortless way she let her guard down carried a dangerous allure—one that only an oblivious girl could possess.
“Ah, Mr. Reyshel! Hold this part for me. A little lower… yeah, right there!!”
“…Uhm, Miss Yelona? You’re, kind of… sitting on my head.”
“?”
As I crouched down, holding a large part from below, Yelona positioned herself above me, using her tools to secure the piece into place.
And then, like magic—
Her enormous melons landed right on top of my head.
…Heavy. The sheer weight was overwhelming.
“Ohh, no wonder my shoulders feel so much lighter now!”
When I pointed it out, Yelona didn’t even flinch. Instead, she made a completely shameless remark.
Then, as if it were the most natural thing in the world, she leaned into me even more.
Yelona seemed to sweat easily, and her damp shirt clung to her skin, carrying a faintly sweet scent mixed with the distinct musk of sweat.
It wasn’t unpleasant.
If anything… it was kind of intoxicating.
I did my best to stay completely still, making sure she wouldn’t notice my, uh, reaction to the situation.
After a while, we finished the first round of work and decided to take a short break.
“Having an assistant makes a huge difference~!”
“Is that so? Honestly, I feel like I wasn’t much help.”
“No, no~! You see, I can’t focus unless I’m talking to someone! When I work alone, I end up chatting with the tools and parts instead~!”
…Isn’t that just a little too weird?
I mean, sure, some people struggle with silence, but talking to tools? That’s on a whole different level.
“That aside, Mr. Reyshel, you’re quite easy to talk to. Now I understand why my younger sister, who’s usually terrible at expressing herself, has taken a liking to you.”
“…Huh? Wait, what do you mean?”
“Yaya!? Are you seriously telling me you haven’t noticed her blatantly obvious feelings!?”
“?? W-Wait, hold on. Your sister? Who are you talking about?”
I asked out of pure confusion, and Yelona casually responded—
“Rosemary, of course!”
“!?”
I nearly lost my balance.
Wait. Wait. Hold on. Rosemary is Yelona’s sister!?
Which means…
“Miss Yelona, are you part of the royal family!?”
“Huh? Rosemary didn’t tell you?”
“N-No, I mean… when she tried to introduce you, you cut her off and introduced yourself instead…”
“Nuhahaha!! Now that you mention it, that did happen!”
Yelona let out a hearty laugh before formally introducing herself again.
“I am Yelona, the Fifth Imperial Princess!! Though, to be honest, the title doesn’t mean much to me. I’ve dedicated my life to the advancement of magic tools, so there’s no need for any formalities!”
“I-I mean, that’s still pretty shocking…”
I never would’ve guessed that Yelona was Rosemary’s older sister.
They didn’t look alike at all.
Rosemary was tall, but Yelona was much closer to average height.
“Hmm… you were thinking that we don’t look alike, weren’t you?”
“Guh—! S-Sorry about that…”
“Well, it’s only natural. Rosemary takes after our mother, while I take after my father. And to top it off, we have different fathers. That just makes us look even less alike.”
“O-Oh, I see.”
Now that she mentioned it, I vaguely remembered Alcarion saying something like, I’ve had seven husbands.
So, this wasn’t all that surprising.
“By the way, my father was a dwarf. That’s why my height ended up somewhere in the middle, thanks to a mix of both bloodlines.”
Dwarves were a race known for being short—even fully grown adults rarely reached the waist of an average human man.
They were also known for their exceptional craftsmanship.
Most dwarves became artisans of some sort, and because they lived much longer than humans, they had time to hone their skills to incredible levels.
Maybe Yelona’s passion for magic tools came from her dwarven heritage.
…Or maybe not.
“Yelona, do you like magic tools?”
“They are my life!”
Someone who could say that so decisively wasn’t just following their bloodline—it was pure passion.
She was the real deal.
Maybe that’s why… I suddenly wanted to ask Yelona to make something for me.
“Actually, I had something I wanted to discuss with you.”
When I explained what I wanted her to create, Yelona’s eyes widened in shock.
It was something that didn’t exist in this world—at least, not in the Empire.
Her breathing grew heavy with excitement.
“T-That would definitely be a dream come true if we had it!!”
“Right? I mean, I don’t know much about magic tools, so I can’t make it myself, but…”
“Not a problem!! I, Yelona, will have it done in a month—no, a week!! …That is, if Mother gives me an allowance—uh, I mean, a budget…”
As she muttered to herself, Yelona suddenly turned to look at me.
“Wait! If I mention Mr. Reyshel’s name, Mother might approve the funding!! T-This is brilliant!! No time to waste—I must head to my workshop immediately!!”
“Wait, uh, what about the shower repairs—?”
“That can wait!! The call of magic is far more important!!—Woohooo!?”
With that, Yelona jumped up energetically and tried to take off running.
Unfortunately, her legs had fallen asleep, and she tripped instantly.
“A-Ah, watch out!!”
I instinctively reached out and managed to stop her from crashing into the floor.
However—
Instead of falling, she ended up knocking me down, and I found myself pinned underneath her.
“Oww… That was close. No injuries, right?”
“…I thought I was going to die under the sheer weight of softness.”
“?”
Pinned beneath Yelona, my face was completely smothered by her very large melons.
There was no pain. It was too soft for that.
The warmth, the dampness, the sheer presence of it—I could feel it all against my face.
And unfortunately, my faithful sword reacted accordingly.
Yelona definitely noticed.
“Hmm? T-This is…”
“I-I’m sorry! I’m really, really sorry!”
Ah… I was doomed.
She was definitely going to look at me with disgust.
Bracing myself, I looked up—only to meet her gaze.
Our eyes locked, amber against silver.
Her long bangs, normally covering her face, had fallen away due to gravity, finally revealing her features.
…And she was stunning.
She was every bit as beautiful as Rosemary or even Alcarion.
Before I knew it, a whisper escaped my lips.
“Whoa… you’re crazy beautiful…”
“…Hweh?”
Yelona froze.
By the time I realized what I had just said, it was too late.
An awkward silence fell between us.
I-I need to fix this!!
“A-Ah, um, I didn’t mean anything by that! It was just… uh…”
“O-Oh! N-No, it’s fine! I understand! A-Anyway, I-I should get off you now!”
Yelona quickly got off me, fanning herself with her hands as if trying to cool down.
For some reason, she glanced between me and herself, as if just now realizing our positions.
Then, out of nowhere, her face flushed red. Hastily, she grabbed the jacket tied around her waist and put it back on.
…Ah. There go the melons.
A small part of me felt disappointed.
And, as if the universe had conspired for maximum misunderstanding, Rosemary chose that exact moment to return from her training session.
“Reyshel, Sister Yelona. How’s the repai—”
She froze mid-sentence.
She must have seen something.
The awkward tension between me and Yelona.
Yelona sweating and hurriedly getting dressed.
Me, standing there, sweating nervously as if something had definitely happened.
…Yeah. If I didn’t know any better, this could be mistaken for a post-incident kind of situation.
“W-What exactly happened here!?”
Immediately, Rosemary stormed over, demanding an explanation.
And so, Yelona and I had no choice but to explain everything in detail.
It took quite a long time to clear up her misunderstanding.
A few days had passed since the Bathhouse Misunderstanding Incident, and just when I thought life had returned to normal—
BAM!!
Suddenly, I found myself backed against the wall, cornered by Rosemary.
A perfect wall slam.
“Reyshel.”
“R-Rosemary…?”
She was staring down at me with a serious expression.
Her cheeks were faintly flushed, her breathing slightly ragged, giving her an incredibly seductive look.
How did this happen?
No, I knew exactly what caused this.
My mind rewound to the events of just a few minutes ago…
