That Time a Shut-in for 300 Years Continued to Make Antiques , but All of It Turned out to Be Cheat-Level Magic Tools - Chapter 22
“Why does this discussion lead to a fight? I truly don’t understand.”
“These folks claim you stole from them, while you say they struck first. If opinions are divided, then settling it through strength is the only way.”
“What kind of conclusion is that? How muscle-brained can you get?”
Honestly, I’m too appalled to speak. I can’t deal with this anymore.
“Let’s go, Mei. It’s a waste of time talking to these people.”
“Yes, Master—”
But as Mei began to speak, she turned around as if struck by something. I also quickly turned my body backward, but Mei had caught Hazan’s descending greatsword with one hand.
“What is the meaning of this?”
“I wanted to see if what they were saying was true… I never expected you to stop it with one hand. You are indeed skilled.”
Then Hazan flew backwards, lowering his blade to the ground.
“That’s not even funny anymore…”
“Got a bit of fight in you now? I thought you were just some brash kid, but a maid that’s truly strong is a surprise.”
“You were targeting my master, I will never forgive you.”
Indeed, Mei was defending me from the attack, but had it not been for her, the sword would have come down on me.
At any rate, it’s unlikely that they could even make my clothes unravel with that level of skill.
“Mei, tell me honestly. Was he trying to kill me?”
“No, Master. He stopped just short of that, but it could easily have turned serious.”
I thought as much. Hazan seems foolish and clearly muscle-brained, but he doesn’t appear to be a madman.
“Hmm, you can tell that much? Impressive. But what about you, Edson? You’ve been quite free with your words. Are you just a crybaby hiding behind a strong maid?”
Cheap provocation. There’s no need to take the bait. But, indeed, there are many things about the Adventurers’ Guild that bother me.
Well, it might not be so bad to break a couple of their arrogant noses.
“Understood. I will take you on.”
“Are you sure, Master?”
“It’s fine. Just watch, Mei.”
I asked Mei to step back, and I confronted this man Hazan.
“Let me say this first: I use magical tools. That’s my way of fighting.”
“That’s fine. I use weapons too.”
He readjusted his greatsword, lifting it diagonally. His torso seemed wide open, likely a trap.
Even so, it doesn’t matter much. My belt is rigged with devices.
“Here I go!”
“Huh!? Fast!”
The surprised voices of his followers reached my ears. Hazan might have been taken aback as well. After all, I was already behind him.
In my hand was an electric stun rod. I intended to knock him out with this shock.
“Grr, Guaaahhhh!”
“Aniki—!”
The electric shock ravaged Hazan. This should secure the victory—.
“But, whoa!”
However, this man was quite tough. Rotating his hips while receiving the shock, he stepped forward and swung his greatsword at me.
I hadn’t expected that. I immediately reached for my belt and teleported to another location.
“Ah! He disappeared again!”
“Hah, hah, damn it!”
Hazan gasped for breath and shouted, “Huh, but to still have such a voice after that, maybe the stun rod isn’t enough.”
“You call it a magical tool, but you’re using some pretty outrageous magic there.”
Hazan turned to me and said that, but it was completely off the mark.
“I’m not using magic.”
“Hmph, there’s no need to pretend. It’s unbelievable how quickly you’re using teleportation magic.”
Oh dear, he’s really missing the point again.
“No, what I used just now is a magical device. It’s called an Instant Teleportation Belt. By touching the belt and focusing, I can bend space to move instantly to a predetermined location. That’s the kind of magical tool it is.”
“Bending space? What’s that? I’ve never heard of such a magical tool.”
Seems like even magic tools that interfere with dimensions aren’t well known. Clearly, complex magical tools aren’t widespread except in major cities.
“Fine. Anyway, I’ll switch to this weapon.”
I took out a new magical tool from my armlet and fixed a holster to my belt.
“What’s that? Looks like a botched wand.”
“This is a revolver-style magic gun.”
I had been using a rifle outside, but that’s not suitable for handling in the middle of a town due to its size. For effective damage and handling, it’s ideal to have a fair amount of space and to be at a reasonable distance from the target.
In close-quarters combat, it’s tricky to manage. That’s why I created this revolver to address such limitations.
This weapon is smaller than my rifle and can be easily handled with one hand. Despite its size, it’s equipped with a muzzle ring and can fire magical bullets, though they are smaller and less powerful than those of my rifle.
The power and range are indeed reduced due to its size, but it’s much easier to handle. The bullets are loaded into a revolving magazine with a maximum capacity of six rounds.
“I see. But I’m not going down to such a toy.”
A toy, is it?
“Hmm, it seems you’re quite the tough one.”
“What do you mean?”
Playing dumb won’t help now. I thought it was strange that he was surprised by the teleportation belt, but he was feigning ignorance. He judged this revolver as a toy just by looking at it.
In reality, this was made for self-defense when my rifle isn’t usable. To someone knowledgeable, it would seem like a toy.
So, this Hazan must be familiar with even more powerful and modern magical tools than what I’ve made.
“So, where have you seen it?”
“No, I don’t understand what you’re saying?”
Playing dumb now?
Hmm, perhaps information on the latest technology is restricted.
But this would explain why this town’s magic technology is lagging.
“Anyway, if you’re ready, let’s continue!”
“You waited? Despite being all brawn, you’re quite conscientious.”
“Has anyone ever told you you have a bad personality?”
“Never have I been told that.”
I wonder if anyone has ever said I have a good personality.
“Really, what a troublesome kid. But if you think you can beat me with that toy, go ahead!”
His confidence is remarkable. It’s indeed worth testing this out. I’ve fired at monsters before, but this will be the first time against a human.
He doesn’t seem to intend to kill me, so I plan to adjust accordingly. For now, a DK bullet should suffice for testing.
This bullet, thanks to the muzzle ring, can change shape slightly upon impact. I aimed and pulled the trigger.
The bullet, fired straight, would likely be absorbed into Hazan’s torso, adjusted to blossom like a flower on impact.
This increases the impact but reduces lethality. Given Hazan’s toughness, it might not affect him much, but his reaction will determine my next move—
“Guboohhh!”
“Ah, Aniki, noooo!”
“Eh?”
The bullet hit, and Hazan bent backward and was blown away. He dramatically rolled on the ground, dropped his greatsword, and after coming to a stop, began twitching.
“Master, wasn’t that a bit too much?”
“Eh… I didn’t expect that! To think that this, less powerful than my rifle, would take him down so spectacularly was beyond my expectations!”
