Vol 4 Chapter 103: Sukui Kensai (Vol 4: The Otherworldly Battlefield Arc)
In another world.
The sole survivor, known as the angel, observed the human world with a smile.
“The negative legacy of the gods.”
A mass of negative emotion that spilled into the human realm.
The Demon King.
“Destroying it with a mortal body.”
An irregularity—one who achieves it without the holy sword’s purification.
And what follows is
the outburst of the gods’ negative emotions, left with nowhere to go.
If there exists a vessel,
it will inevitably draw them in.
And what is obtained—
an S-rank spell that is unavoidably bestowed.
The Demon King.
“The gods, having despaired of eternal life, chose death.”
Yet amid that, another sentiment welled up.
“They left untouched the humans they had created and cherished—allowing only themselves to attain the solace of death.”
Such irresponsibility.
And yet, they could not drag along those who held life dear.
“Thus, the gods introduced a doctrine venerating death—a belief foreign to this world.”
A doctrine that did not exist here.
A heresy.
The young man chosen by the god of death
carried that doctrine.
“Not every human needed to embrace death as a faith; they simply had to be taught about it.”
There exists the notion that death brings salvation, that eternal existence is not necessarily the answer.
Thus, the summoning of that preacher.
In other words, a heretical summoning.
“However, though he professed belief in death, he was not the sort of being the gods had envisioned—one who would scatter death as they wished and indiscriminately spread madness.”
One of the fates for Sukui that the angel had foreseen.
A possibility.
“Demon King, the torrent of the gods’ negative emotions will strip you of all reason, until you are no longer human but become pure madness.”
Thus, as the angel watched over the situation,
the Demon King’s castle was destroyed.
A massive surge of mud burst forth, shattering the Demon King’s castle and, without pause, soiling everything around.
“Not even the relics of the gods created to seal the Demon King can stop it.”
Amid that mud,
a solitary figure floated in mid-air.
“That’s fine.”
One of the several fates of Sukui—
this is one of them.
“Spread death and proclaim your existence.”
That was the reason Sukui was summoned to another world.
The gods’ plan.
“Now, be born.”
In the mud that kills,
Sukui instead noticed that his consciousness had become remarkably clear.
“Why?”
All his formerly complex thoughts vanished,
leaving only a simple answer.
“Death is absolute. It is the complete salvation.”
Both the good and the wicked,
children and adults—before death, nothing holds any meaning.
Everything is equal.
If that is so,
“By slaughtering all the humans in this world,”
you will give death to the world,
and in doing so, save it.
“Let us scoop away the impurities from this present world.”
Thus, Demon King Sukui Kensai was born.
