Chapter 50: Intruder
“Uh, you’re Fuzuha, right?”
This is bad. Really bad!
I heard the downstairs door open earlier, but I didn’t expect her to come straight up to the second floor.
“…”
Fuzuha stays silent.
But her eyes look red, like she’s about to cry.
“We’re just playing a game together with your brother, Kiyoto-kun. So, can you leave?”
“…”
Kirino doesn’t hold back, even seeing Fuzuha’s teary eyes.
“Or are you going to pull the game cord out again like last time?”
“…”
“I think I told you when we met on the way home, but that was really annoying. Kiyoto-kun and I were having fun playing online, and you just yanked the cord out.”
“…”
“After that, Kiyoto-kun apologized for you, but I still haven’t heard a direct apology from you.”
Is Kirino still holding a grudge?
“Come on, say sorry.”
“…Get.”
“What? Speak louder, I can’t hear you.”
“Get out!!!”
Fuzuha glares at Kirino with bloodshot eyes and screams as loud as she can.
“Oh? Just yelling this time? Not going to jump at me like before?”
“Shut up! You don’t belong here!!!”
“Yelling won’t get your point across. Come on, take a swing like last time.”
Kirino’s tone is provoking, but her face isn’t smiling.
Getting interrupted twice probably has her really pissed off.
If Fuzuha tries to grab her, Kirino might not just dodge but counterattack this time.
“Calm down, Fuzuha! Kirino, please don’t say stuff to rile her up.”
“What are you talking about, Kiyoto-kun? I’m just saying what’s fair. So why are you taking Fuzuha’s side?”
“I’m not taking her side.”
“Big brother… you’re not on my side?”
Fuzuha looks up at me with teary eyes, barely holding herself back.
“…Ugh.”
Her eyes always get to me.
“You’re choosing Fuzuha over playing with me…”
“That’s not what I—”
“Of course! Big brother cares about me way more than you!”
“Fuzuha, maybe shut up for a second.”
Oh, Kirino’s tone is serious now.
“Get out already, you trespasser.”
“I’ve been letting it slide because you’re Kiyoto-kun’s sister… but I won’t take that kind of talk anymore.”
Kirino steps closer quietly.
“K-Kirino, can we calm down for a sec?”
“Kiyoto-kun, move. I’ll discipline your sister for you.”
Discipline?//
Is this some kind of sadistic yuri scenario… No, not the time to fantasize.
“Don’t get near my brother! Your dirty germs will rub off on him!”
“Hahaha… That’s such a childish, brainless taunt.”
That “hahaha” is pure terror.
“Come on, Kiyoto-kun, move.”
“Kirino… what do you mean by discipline?”
“Just making sure she never talks to me like that again, with some tough love.”
If she said that to me, my pants would be bursting right now.
“Just get out!!! You’re rotting this room just by being here!”
“Kiyoto-kun, I want to shut that rude mouth. Move.”
Kirino’s right in front of me now.
Her eyes are colder than ever, warning that she won’t hold back, even with me, if I keep interfering.
Alright, time to run.
I grab Fuzuha, who’s behind me, and try to head downstairs to escape outside.
“Fuzuha, let’s go.”
Just as I say that, the door opens.
“Hey, you’re loud. What’s all the noise about?”
There stands Rinka, our savior in this mess.

Chapter 51: Mediator
“Hm? You’re Kirino, right?”
“You’re Rinka, aren’t you? It’s been a while.”
Rinka stays calm, not flustered by Kirino’s presence.
“I don’t think we’re close enough for you to act so familiar… but fine. Why are you in Kiyoto’s room?”
Oh, she’s totally in whip mode now.
“I made plans to stay over at Kiyoto-kun’s room today.”
“I wasn’t told anything about that.”
Come on, Rinka.
Don’t give me that scary look. I didn’t know it was today either.
“I’ll question Kiyoto about that later, but it sounded like you were arguing about something earlier.”
Finally, getting to the point.
“Well, Kiyoto-kun and I were playing a game together when Fuzuha suddenly burst in, yelling ‘Get out of the house’ and making a big scene.”
“Is that true, Fuzuha?”
Fuzuha just looks down and doesn’t answer.
She’s like a kid who goes quiet when they’re about to get scolded by their parents.
“By the way, you’re the second daughter, right, Rinka?”
“Yes, and what about it?”
“Can you call the eldest daughter here?”
“Sorry, but she’s in a dorm at an all-girls high school, so we can’t just call her home.”
“So, you’re basically in charge of this house, right?”
“That’s fine to assume.”
Hey, what about me!?
I’m the eldest son here, you know!?
“So, how do you usually raise your sisters?”
“Is there something bothering you?”
“Tons. Like I said, Fuzuha here interrupted my and Kiyoto-kun’s multiplayer game twice, and once she even tried to grab me.”
It’s true, so Fuzuha can’t argue back.
“And that other one, Ayuka, was it? She’s always picking fights with me, interrupting when I’m with Kiyoto-kun at cram school.”
Was that flirting…?
“Isn’t all this because you haven’t disciplined them properly?”
“…”
Fuzuha listens to Kirino in silence.
“I’m sorry. I’ll apologize for my sisters causing you trouble.”
“Just a little trouble? How is this just a little?”
Kirino still isn’t satisfied.
But I get why she’s upset.
“Still, I think you have issues too.”
Rinka’s unexpected words make the room feel colder.
“What’s wrong with me?”
“It’s you spreading that silly joke about being Kiyoto’s girlfriend.”
Uh, that’s the last thing I wanted brought up…
“Joke? What’s that supposed to mean? Kiyoto-kun and I are real lovers.”
“Don’t you know an overdone joke stops being funny?”
“And you, when will you stop ignoring reality?”
Oh no, this is heading straight for a mess.
“And you’re not exactly blameless either.”
“Oh? Do tell.”
“You keep interrupting me and Kiyoto-kun on our way to and from school. And once, you even pretended to forget who I was.”
“I genuinely didn’t know who you were…”
“Can you stop with that terrible acting? It’s getting on my nerves.”
Kirino’s tone is getting rougher.
But I kinda like this side of her.
“Ugh, what a boring joke. You, Kiyoto’s lover? That’s lame.”
“Boring or not, it’s the truth. Why do you keep denying it so stubbornly?”
“And you, how long are you going to keep up this joke?”
They step closer to each other.
Is this the moment my imagined debate about who’s stronger, Rinka or Kirino, gets settled?
But my guess is wrong, and Rinka backs off.
“Anyway, you’re staying over tonight, right? Make yourself at home.”
“That’s surprising. I thought you’d try to kick me out like Fuzuha.”
“Whatever. It’s a done deal that Kiyoto and I will end up together. Until then, I can overlook one or two of his flings.”
“What’s that supposed to mean?”
“Take it how you want. I’m going to make dinner now. I have to cook for one more person today. Hey, Fuzuha. Your punishment is to help me with dinner. And Kiyoto, come to my room alone after we eat.”
“…Yes.”
We both reply, and Rinka and Fuzuha leave the room.
