Chapter 1-49: Tiara Creates a Monster
I felt awkward being left behind.
Standing alone in a women’s store, surrounded by female customers and staff. I couldn’t pass the time looking at the products. There were only women’s clothes around. What kind of space is this?
How did I appear to those around me? How should I spend this time?
I searched for something to help.
Outside the store, I saw a familiar face. Though in casual clothes today, it was unmistakable. Hino… um, Tiara.
What was she doing here? Was she hoping to encounter magical girls? She was oddly obsessed with them.
I considered talking to her for a moment, but decided against it.
She knows I’m connected to magical girls. And she desperately wants to become one herself. It seemed like getting involved with her would be a hassle.
Besides, I was in the middle of a date with Haruka. Even if I didn’t see it that way, for Haruka, this was still a date.
Talking to another girl during that wouldn’t be right.
Even someone as clueless as me about fashion or cooking understood that much.
“Excuse me, are you looking for something?”
“Whoa!? No, I’m just waiting for a friend to finish trying something on.”
Watching Tiara wander outside, trying to avoid being seen by her, I must have looked quite suspicious.
A female store clerk approached me. Maybe part of a clerk’s job is to handle suspicious people.
She seemed satisfied with my answer and walked away. She then peeked into the fitting room where Haruka had gone.
Did she remember seeing me with Haruka, or was she just curious about the wheelchair parked in front of the fitting room, thinking Haruka might need assistance?
Just then, Haruka came out of the fitting room.
“Hey, Yuuma! How do I look in this?”
“The clerk is staring. Keep it down.”
“Okay. So, how do I look?”
“It suits you… It’s a different look for you, so I was a bit surprised at first, but it’s nice. Cute.”
Praising a girl’s outfit was beyond my ability. That was all I could manage to say.
“Really? Yeah, cute… hehehe.”
Haruka seemed more pleased than I expected.
The thought of Hino Tiara was completely gone from my mind.

Himeki Tiara wandered aimlessly. The station where the monster first appeared and the nearby shopping center.
She first thought the monster should appear at one of those locations, and chose the shopping center, thinking it had more potential monster materials than the station.
There were also more people. Plenty of eyes to witness the magical girls’ battle. Of course, people would also see Himeki’s transformation.
A magical girl’s identity must be kept secret, right? But it’s okay if I reveal mine. It makes me stand out more, become more popular. It would finally put my life on the right track.
As she gazed at the Miracle Force sticker from her card holder, Himeki imagined it. A crowd of people paying attention to her, showering her with admiration.
Having lots of allies who would criticize her hated mother and help her become popular, provide her a new home.
In that ideal life, everyone would be kind to her. No one would get angry no matter how much she admired Miracle Force.
To achieve that perfect life, she had to create a monster.
What should she make it from? It should be something strong. She hadn’t thought of anything specific.
So her feet naturally led her to the usual corner of the specialty stores. A toy store tenant.
She first went to the Miracle Force section.
There, the blue girl from the current series posed confidently in a pop display, along with transformation items and dolls.
Miracle Shark. Thanks to the promotion, she knew this character’s name. She didn’t know what kind of feats she performed. Couldn’t watch TV.
Could she make this character a monster? She considered it briefly, then decided against it. She wanted to become a magical girl like this character. Turning a magical girl into a monster didn’t sit right with Himeki.
Besides, the magical girls wouldn’t want to fight Miracle Force. They were fellow magical girls.
Himeki projected her own thoughts onto the magical girls, assuming she understood their feelings. She believed she was right.
That’s it. She’d turn something from a boys’ show into a monster. That wouldn’t upset the magical girls too much. Her feet moved in that direction.
A hero wielding an unrecognizable weapon. A hero who grows giant upon transformation. Numerous figures lined up. Maybe one of these.
Then, her eyes caught a large box.
It appeared to be a robot monster. The bold “Metal Rex” logo stood out.
It was a remote-controlled toy. It moved, its eyes lit up, and it roared.
This would do.
Once she decided, she touched the box without hesitation and tore it open. She heard a store clerk’s voice trying to stop her, but she ignored it.
This was important work to become a magical girl. Don’t interfere. You get to admire Miracle Force as much as you want. You aren’t as involved with magical girls as I am.
She embedded a core taken from a bottle into the robot dinosaur. Immediately, black particles gushed out from the core and spread around.
Darkness engulfed Himeki.
It felt as if the world had lost its light, but only for a moment.
The darkness converged into the robot, which grew larger in her hands until it was too big to hold, and she let go.
