Chapter 1-47: A Date with Haruka
“Rafio. I’m going out with Haruka. If any enemies appear, contact me.”
“Hey Yuuma! If you have time, help me out! Do something about this fluffy demon!”
“Have a good time, Yuuma-san, Haruka-san! Leave the house to me!”
“Okay.”
“Tsumugi-chan, you’re so responsible.”
“Wait! That should have been my line!”
“By the way, what time will you be back?”
“Before dinner.”
“If you’d like, I can make dinner too? Shall we buy the ingredients together?”
“Are you sure?”
“Yeah, it’s fine. Let’s eat together.”
“Yay. Rafio, we’re all having dinner together.”
“Hey! Why is the fluffy demon acting like a family member and joining the conversation!?”
“Oh, tell my sister that we went out too.”
“Got it.”
“Ahhhh!”
Tsumugi walked towards Aina’s room. In her hands was Rafio, who she had been gripping, petting, and squashing with both hands continuously. How long can Rafio withstand this relentless fluffing?
If he wanted, he could transform into a human and escape. He’s just putting up with it. Or maybe he’s being constantly tickled, preventing him from changing into a human. Knowing Tsumugi, she could easily keep him in his fluffy form.
“I’ll get changed too.”
I can’t go out in just my indoor shirt. It’s not about caring about appearances, but changing into something suitable for going outside. Jeans and a gray jacket.
“Wow… It’s kind of… dull. It’s fine for going out, but it’s a bit plain… I wish my boyfriend would dress more stylishly.”
“I’m not your boyfriend.”
“I know, but everyone else thinks so, right?”
Our classmates have that misunderstanding because of you. She’s probably thinking about the possibility of meeting classmates outside.
“By the way, who chose that outfit?”
“It was on a mannequin at a cheap clothing store.”
“I see. You don’t spend much time choosing clothes, do you? Same with cooking, and your slightly messy house. Yuuma, are you a lazy person?”
“No, I just think it’s fine as long as it’s minimally acceptable.”
I’ve been slowly starting to clean up, though.
“Alright! I’ll teach you, Yuuma, about adding color to your life! You can’t go out dressed like that! More flair! More fun! Let’s go!”
“O-okay…”
Haruka sat in the wheelchair parked at the entrance, and I pushed it. We headed towards the bus stop we go to every morning.
“First, we’re going to the station, right? Should we go downtown?”
“Nearby is fine. That shopping center has everything we need. I heard the grocery section has reopened.”
“Really? That’s great.”
The store was wrecked by a battle between monsters and magical girls, but other areas were fine. Only three aisles and part of the fresh fish section were damaged. They put up barricades in those areas, but the store is still open.
“I heard it will take some time to reopen the fresh fish section because they have to replace the refrigerator where the body crashed.”
“I see. They have to replace it.”
It’s more of a psychological thing than about cleaning up the body. It can’t be helped. Monsters keep appearing. We can’t just hope they won’t show up and end everything when damage occurs. We have to deal with them. The department store made an evacuation manual immediately, and some places have proper countermeasures and cleanup procedures. People have lives to live after the battle.
“Humans are amazing. So, shall we shop there as a way to support the recovery?”
“Yeah.”
There are more shops downtown, but that place also has a decent specialty store area.
“For a fashion beginner like you, having too many options might be confusing!”
“That’s none of your business. Are we really buying my clothes too?”
“Yes, we are.”
We took the bus in the opposite direction of usual, passed through the station, and headed to the shopping center behind it.
####
“Aina-san, Aina-san.”
“Hmm… let me sleep a little longer… I need my sleep.”
“Yuuma-san and Haruka-san went on a date.”
“What!?”
Aina jumped up instantly at Tsumugi’s casual remark.
“Eek!”
She jumped up so quickly that she fell out of bed and hit the floor headfirst.
“I wish you’d wake up this energetically every day.”
“Rafio, if you keep doing this every morning, Aina-san’s body won’t hold up.”
“I’d be happy if you worried about my body too.”
Rafio was still in Tsumugi’s hands. He kept getting tickled on the neck and couldn’t transform into a human. Why does this fluffy demon know his unknown condition? A fluffing expert, indeed.
“Ouch…”
“Aina-san, are you okay? Any injuries?”
“I’m fine. More importantly, Yuuma is on a date with Haruka-chan!?”
“They just left.”
“I’m going to follow them.”
“What?”
“I’m going to follow them! I won’t let that sly cat take Yuuma!”
“Aina, what are you worried about?”
“Yuuma and that woman crossing a line! I’ll get dressed quickly, so you two get out!”
“Crossing a line… you should let them do what they want.”
Aina didn’t hear Rafio’s muttering.
