Chapter 1-39: Noisy Homecoming
There isn’t much point in considering it. All three magical girls are already here, and there are no gems left. Besides, she doesn’t have the aptitude. If she did, Rafio would have invited her back then.
“Sorry, it’s not possible. Call an ambulance for these people. Let’s go, everyone.”
“I’ll go ahead and switch to my wheelchair and head to Yuuma’s house!”
Liner whispered to me that this might reveal her true identity, then headed home first. We should go too.
Leaving Hino Tiara behind, Rafio and Saber started running. Hunter and I rode on Rafio’s back.
“Hey, hey. Can Rafio actually carry three people on top?” Saber asked hopefully while running.
“It’s quite difficult. I’ll carry Yuuma, so one of the magical girls will have to run back alone.”
“I want to stay with Rafio too!”
“Gueh!”
Hunter clung to Rafio’s neck with a determined grip, clearly unwilling to let go.
Rafio, on the other hand, looked quite exhausted, a sense of resignation evident.
“As you can see, Saber. You’ll have to run.”
“Why am I the only one…?”
“Liner is running too, you know.”
“She runs because she wants to! Why does this have to happen to me?”
Even though we won, it doesn’t look like we ended it in a dashing way. Well, it’s my sister, so it can’t be helped.
—
A few minutes later, Haruka arrived at my house in her wheelchair.
“So, Tsumugi really did transform into a magical girl.”
“Yes! Once again, I am Magical Girl Shiny Hunter! I use a bow to attack enemies! And I never miss anything fluffy!”
“Got it! I can rely on you!”
“Yes! Leave it to me!”
“This is a nightmare. This must be a nightmare…”
“By the way, Tsumugi, why are you still holding onto that crow?”
“It seemed pitiful.”
Tsumugi was still holding the dead body of the Fear-Eater crow. She brought it all the way back.
The fact that living creatures can become Fear-Eaters surprises me. Rafio himself is one, and it’s probably the same for the magical girls.
“I can’t forgive turning something so fluffy into this…”
Even though Tsumugi seems to hate the enemy for special reasons, she’s holding the fluffy crow rather roughly.
“There’s no way to return something turned into a Fear-Eater back to its original state. If you feel sorry for it, the kindest thing to do is to kill it quickly… Let’s bury that carcass.”
“Are we making a grave?”
“If you want to, go ahead.”
“Yes! I’ll pray that it reincarnates into something fluffy so I can cuddle it again!”
“That sounds like a sad fate for it.”
“By the way, Rafio, about turning living things into Fear-Eaters…”
Rafio, who looked tired talking to Tsumugi, seemed to recognize the seriousness of the topic.
“As far as I know, conscious beings can’t be turned into Fear-Eaters. If the enemy finds a way to overcome… ahhh!”
“Rafio! Let’s go quickly! Oh, we need a shovel! Do we have one at home?”
“Stop it! Don’t you understand this is an important discussion?”
Rafio struggled to free himself from Tsumugi’s grip, trying to escape her clutches.
He’s got it tough.
“Hey sis, Haruka. If we end up fighting human Fear-Eaters, could you kill them?”
I have to ask. My role is to support in battles, but the magical girls are the ones who actually fight.
“I will. I’ll do it.”
“Yeah. I agree with her.”
Their responses were surprisingly straightforward.
“I’m not your ‘Big Sis’ if I didn’t, right? I decided to become a magical girl to protect the world you’re in, Yuuma. No matter who the enemy is, I’ll do it.”
“I’ll do anything to be able to run with my own legs, I’ll protect this world with sis!”
“You don’t have the right to call me ‘sis.'”
“And what’s your relationship with Yuuma?”
“We’re just classmates. But maybe people at school think we’re dating?”
“Wait! Yuuma, is that true?”
“Ah, it’s true. But it’s a misunderstanding. Haruka deliberately caused it.”
Haruka, don’t give me a thumbs up with that smug look.
“Got it, Yuuma. So it’s necessary for you to play that role at school to support the magical girls, right? It’s just a role, though.”
“Y-Yeah. Seems like it…”
Aina backed down surprisingly easily. I thought she’d be more upset. Although she says it’s just a role, she doesn’t seem convinced.
“Alright, Yuuma. Let’s take a bath together.”
“Huh?”
Correction. She isn’t convinced at all and hasn’t backed down. Not able to secure a position at school, she’s trying to gain an advantage at home.
“Come on. We used to bathe together.”
“I don’t remember that.”
“Well, you were little then. I used to bathe you.”
“That’s dangerous. You’d probably drown me. You’re still clumsy now.”
“That’s rude! I only dropped you into the bath a few times!”
“That’s dangerous! Wait, did you really do that?”
“Hey, that’s not the point. Bathing together back then and now are two different things!”
“Indeed.”
Haruka is right. I almost got swept up in Aina’s pace.
