Chapter 1-33: Saturday Morning
“YuUma! Let’s go out! How about watching a movie?”
The next morning, Rafio suggested this enthusiastically.
Even on weekends, I don’t sleep in until the afternoon. I usually spend the day relaxing or studying for the future.
Aina, on the other hand, always sleeps in on weekends, often until well past noon. It’s a common sight for her to wake up just as I’m finishing lunch, groggy and complaining about being hungry.
This is probably Aina’s ideal lifestyle.
Anyway, Rafio continued to insist on his plan from yesterday.
“Let’s escape before that fluffy demon comes! We can hide in the crowds in town!”
“That’s fine, but why a movie?”
“I like movies, especially romance films. In my previous world, I learned a lot about this world by watching its films. Among them, romance movies are my favorite.”
“That’s an unexpected hobby.”
“Is it? People can like whatever they want.”
“Sorry, you’re right. It’s just surprising.”
I guess it’s because I always picture him as an elementary school boy. I thought he would prefer more action-packed movies.
“Anyway, I want to see this one.”
He manipulated my smartphone to show me a movie that had just been released the day before.
It was a romance movie about a handsome, sadistic prince and a plain high school girl, based on a popular shoujo manga. The lead actor was a popular idol, and it was generating quite a buzz on social media, with impressive audience numbers.
“I want to see it.”
“You want me to take an elementary school boy to see a romance movie?”
“Yes. Oh, I can turn into a fairy and hide in your bag, so you don’t need to pay for my ticket.”
“So, you want me to go see a romance movie alone?”
“Not alone. I’ll be there.”
“From others’ perspectives, I’d be alone.”
“But I want to see it.”
“Ah, what should I do…”
“How about inviting Haruka? She’d be happy to go with you.”
“I guess she would be.”
Haruka would probably be thrilled to join. Should I contact her?
“Wait, YuUma. Sorry, but we have to cancel the movie.”
“Why the sudden change?”
I didn’t mind, since Rafio was the one who wanted to see the movie. But his reason was serious.
“A Fear-Eater has appeared.”
“Got it. Wake up my sister. Do you know where it is?”
“Over that way.”
Rafio pointed in one direction, but I could only see the wall. He could only give a rough direction and distance.
“Wake up my sister and then we head out. I’ll pick up Haruka. Let’s meet at the bus stop and take me to the scene.”
“What about Aina?”
“Transform her. Make her run and follow us.”
We’ll rely on the magical girl’s strength. She’ll complain, but there’s no choice.
I quickly got ready to go out. Rafio grabbed a frying pan and headed to Aina’s room.
I heard Aina’s screams as she was woken up while I left the room. I contacted Haruka while in the elevator.
She replied quickly with an acknowledgment stamp, meaning she didn’t waste time on a detailed response and would be ready soon.
“I heard everything, Yuuma! It’s my turn now!”
As I arrived at Haruka’s house, she leaped from the window to the roof, already transformed into her magical girl form.
Magical Girl Shiny Liner seemed to really like the legs that appeared when she transformed.
“Where’s the enemy!? I’ll rush over and kick it to death!”
“Calm down a bit. Also, hide. Watch out for people below.”
I averted my eyes as I warned her. I had no other choice.
“Eh? But it’s early on a weekend morning. There’s hardly anyone around.”
“If anyone sees you, it’s over. Also, watch your skirt.”
I was looking up at her from below.
“Oh. Did you see?”
“I didn’t.”
“You can look if you want.”
Liner finally sat on the roof, holding down her skirt.
“But the view from up here is nice. Standing on the roof, something I could never do normally.”
“Standing on the roof isn’t normal. Besides, you stand a lot, even with crutches.”
“Hehe, that’s true.”
I understood her excitement.
“Sorry for the wait! Waking up Aina took some effort!”
“Because it’s terrible to be woken up on a day off!”
“It’s a world crisis!”
“My sleep is also in crisis!”
Rafio and Aina finally appeared. Aina was clinging to Rafio without transforming.
“I refuse to run even if I transform into a magical girl! Rafio will carry me!”
“That’s fine. I’ll run!”
“Really!? I love everything about you, Haruka! Except for being too close to Yuuma!”
“Alright, let’s go.”
Rafio descended to the ground and I climbed on his back. He started running towards where the Fear-Eater was rampaging.
Liner followed behind, enjoying herself.
“The wind feels so good! Going out without a wheelchair is the best! Yahoo!”
“Youth is wonderful.”
“You’re young enough, sis.”
“Of course. I’ll show that I’m much more useful than them.”
“Please do. I’m really counting on you.”
Wrapping a towel around my face as a mask, I realized I sounded really tired.
The fate of the world depended on this sister of mine.
