Chapter 1-24: Liner’s Victory
Though the difference in leg strength was unclear, Liner, with her long legs, was faster. When she sprinted at full speed, she seemed to vanish.
With nearly teleportation-like speed, Liner circled in front of the Fear-Eater and kicked it hard.
The creature was sent flying towards us.
“Hey! How do I defeat this thing again!?”
“Expose the core and then kick it to break it!”
Looking at the Fear-Eater, I noticed one of its arms was mangled.
Being a mannequin, it was made of inflexible, hard material. With enough force, it would break. While the hardness enhanced its arm swings, repeated kicks from Liner and collisions with walls and ceilings were bound to cause damage.
Speed and kicking power—these were Liner’s weapons.
It wasn’t just the arm that was damaged. From the part of its torso covered by clothes, a faint black darkness was visible. The core might be exposed soon. If left alone, the wounds would heal. We needed to act fast.
“Liner! Kick it again! Aim for the chest this time!”
“Got it!”
Liner accelerated again, closing in on the Fear-Eater and delivering another powerful kick.
She aimed for the chest but missed. The Fear-Eater hurriedly got up and protected its body.
As a result, when the Fear-Eater crashed into the wall, its other arm and one leg broke off.
“Do you think it will still try to run on one leg? I think it will! Just like me!”
“Relating to monsters is weird.”
“Yuuma, we need to hold it down ourselves.”
“Got it. Let’s do it.”
With me holding a new wooden fragment, Rafio sprinted.
The Fear-Eater tried to escape on one leg, but its speed had significantly decreased.
Rafio easily caught up and pinned the creature down, putting pressure on its legs and breaking the one that was almost healed.
Despite its struggles, the creature couldn’t escape.
“Yuuma! Rip off its clothes! Tear them with that fragment!”
“O-Okay!”
“Liner, once you see the core, kick it! Gather light for that!”
“Huh? Okay!”
Liner’s leg glow had diminished from repeated kicks and running. She lifted one leg to catch the ceiling light. I averted my eyes from her slightly lifted skirt and focused on my task.
Jumping off Rafio, I stabbed the sharp end of the wooden fragment into the Fear-Eater’s clothes, tearing them open.
The mannequin, dressed in some girl’s brand clothing, was now in tatters.
“This is kinda… weird. Like I’m assaulting a girl.”
“Shut up! Is the light ready!?”
“Of course! I’m good to go anytime!”
I glanced at Liner. She tapped her toes on the floor, ready to run, and gave me a thumbs-up.
I needed to hurry.
The mannequin’s chest was exposed. Sure enough, the core was there, and just like the umbrella Fear-Eater we first fought, its insides were pitch black.
The previous case with the pet bottle was unique.
“Now!”
I shouted, grabbing the Fear-Eater’s body. Rafio stepped aside so I could lift the creature.
I held the monster up towards Liner. In an instant, Liner dashed forward and delivered a high kick with all her might.
Her glowing toes struck the core, shattering it. The Fear-Eater’s body disintegrated into black particles, leaving behind pieces of a mannequin and tattered clothes in my hands.
“Did we win?”
“Yeah. We won.”
“Yay!”
“Whoa!”
Liner hugged me. She probably controlled her strength, but with her powerful legs, supporting her was a struggle.
And her chest was pressing against me. Why did I feel embarrassed now, but not when Saber hugged me? Was it because Saber was my sister? Or was it the size difference?
“We did it, Yuuma. We won, thanks to you. I’m sure now. Together, we can win.”
“Yeah… let’s do our best.”
I replied, my heart racing a little as Liner whispered in my ear.
“Yeah. Together. You hold the enemy, and I kick, just like we did. …Oh.”
Liner suddenly realized something and pulled away from me in a hurry.
“Did you see… my panties when I kicked?”
“Huh?”
“I kicked right in front of you. Did you see under my skirt?”
“No, I didn’t. You were too fast.”
That was the truth. But even if I had seen it, I wouldn’t admit it.
“Really? I wonder what my panties look like in this outfit. Wow, even my panties changed.”
“Stop talking about that.”
Liner turned her back to me, lifting her skirt to check. I made sure not to look, even if I could have seen.
“Oh? Yuuma, are you interested? Pervert!”
“Shut up.”
“Sorry, sorry. I got excited about this new outfit. It’s cute but also really bold in some places.”
“Sorry I’m late! I was about to leave on time when my annoying boss stopped me!”
Saber’s voice interrupted Liner’s troublesome behavior of showing off her cleavage to me.
Thank goodness.
