Chapter 2: Indistinct
Really, I enjoyed the first year so much, yet, I wonder just when did our relationship turn into something like that?
Did I do something wrong to her? I can’t think of anything like that at all.
I also tried asking her about that once, but she didn’t give me any reply, and even when I tried apologising, she just ignored everything I said.
If that was the case, what makes you think I have a leg to stand on? Although I wish she had told me because I really couldn’t figure out where I had to improve in the first place.
Nevermind now, I’m already a stranger to that girl now.
However, I’m sure I’ll see her at the university even if I don’t want to, but as long as I don’t get involved, there should be no problem whatsoever.
Even still, just where should I stay for tonight is the question.
Neither my friend’s house nor my parents’ house is nearby. Should I spend the night at some capsule hotel or look for an Internet cafe?
This is a slightly developed city, so I’m sure if I look for one, I will sure find one soon enough.
Moreover, since I’m a secret otaku (TL: weeb), I’d be happy to spend the night while reading my favorite mangas.
Let’s go to an Internet cafe. Let’s do that.
I put “net cafe” in the search box, I found one within a 10-minute walking distance, as I expected.
As I thought, the city is wonderful. If ever I fall into trouble, I can easily find a solution right away. This would be impossible in this was a countryside though.
I brought all my valuables from home, so I should be fine. ……?
Arre, wai—, wait a minute there?
My wallet’s not there……?
I searched every nook and cranny of the backpack on my back.
But what came out was my favorite watch, my parents’ keys, and other similar things like that.
No matter where I look, I can’t find my wallet. I check all the pockets on the clothes, and every imaginable pockets on my body, but could only find a meagre piece of gum.
Did I just mess up? Did I leave it at that house?
Even if it hurts my pride, I can’t go back there, no matter how much I want to. For If I do, I’m sure all my earlier actions will be all put to vain.
I will just have to find a way to do something with my phone. Worst case scenario, I’ll be homeless tonight.
“…..Sa—ve …….m”
eh?
I think I just heard something. I think I just heard a voice that sounded like a woman flying into my ears from somewhere though …….
“Ple…… sto— tha—…….”
This way, huh!
The place I turned my gaze toward was a road leading to a dimly lit alleyway.
I was sure I heard it coming from this direction. Unless my ears had gone hallucinating, I am completely sure.
I think she was probably a call for help. I couldn’t hear it all very clearly, but surely it was a faint cry for help.
I could smell strong stench of crime in the air.
Even as I think about that, there is was a possibility that something even worse was happening.
I started running toward the back alley without thinking too much on the spot.
