She is Reading My Thoughts Again Today - Chapter 9
End of Test Day
The tests are over. Well, at least it is almost over, the tests are over when our results are returned to us and we pass all of the subjects. If we pass all of the test, that means we could return to our peaceful lives without any extra assignments or remedial tests. I had studied hard enough for the test and I’m confident with my results. In fact, I think I even almost aced some of the subjects. However, I never know what will happen until the results are returned. The answer column may be off, or I may have forgotten to write my name. Sometimes I make some silly mistakes and it is hard for me to notice it. Nevertheless, I am glad that the test went off without a hitch. Well, the classes are over now and it’s been a while since I’ve calmed myself down in the library.
“I’ve already checked it out.”
My shoulders shook with surprise when she suddenly appeared behind me.
“What are you checking?”
“I’m planning on our date.”
Yeah, she mentioned about it before. I forgot all about it. I’m sorry for asking that, but please consider your choice of words.
Well.
I could feel the gazes of the few remaining people in the classroom turned towards us. That’s right, not only we suddenly spend more time together, but they could hear us talking as if we’re planning a date. Its not hard to say that I’ll be the center of attention in the class. I’m not happy about it at all. I had already heard rumors saying we’re dating. If that’s the case, the rumor probably will take a further leap forward and people will start talking about things that aren’t true. My reputation will certainly be that man who asks his girlfriend to make date plans for him, and that Mikinori will definitely laugh at me later when he hear about it.
“Let’s talk about it over here.”
She must have read my thoughts up to that point, but she doesn’t do anything about it. Moving here now will not clear up the misunderstanding ninety-nine percent of the time, so I will take care of it maturely. She showed me three kinds of plan. Each schedule is based on the screening times of the most well-received films currently showing in theatres. Although it is a schedule, it is not as detailed and precise as a school trip one. It mainly contains of transportation schedules that we will have to find out locally if we don’t know them, and times when each place is not crowded. It’s a very convenient schedule, and there are alternative plans that had been nicely planned as well.
“Think of this as a suggestion for you, please decide which plan you think is the best. If you want to go somewhere which are not in the list, I always can add them in the plan.”
Since we planned on watching movies, I have frequently checked the films which are showing right now, but none of them interests me. It’s a shame that a little while later, my favourite movie sequel would have been released.
“Well, it’s a perfect plan, isn’t it?”
“No.”
Let’s keep on going. Let’s keep going until our legs gave up.
“Well, what would you recommend?”
Her eyes lit up in surprise. I was just too shy to say it aloud to her because people are listening to our conversation. Her ability is very convenient at a time like this after all.
“Well, I recommend this one.”
Her thin index finger pointed to a Western movie which advertised mainly for its flashy car action.
“The trailer is very interesting.”
“We’ll watch it then. When can we go?”
“I’m free this Saturday.”
“Then I’ll meet you at the station on Saturday at this time.”
“Okay then. If you can’t come, please do let me know.”
“Yeah, you too.”
I roughly memorized the time and place and returned the schedule to her.
“Please keep it. I can print as many copies as I want.”
I put the schedule that she gave me into a clear file. As I looked around, the class was empty. It was late in the day, so perhaps they weren’t paying attention to our conversation.
“Why did you start calling it a date?”
I remembered the looks from those around me and exhaled a sigh. I knew our conversation was serious the other day, but I didn’t think she would do something like this.
“If I told them I like someone else they won’t take me seriously, they will think I’m dating you.”
“I didn’t mean it that way.”
“Then what?”
I’ve heard that people nowadays call it a date even when they go out with their friends for fun. Is this any different?”
She said this with a serious look on her face. Suddenly, I felt empty.
“We must’ve been really close to use that word.”
She doesn’t expect that I would respond like that, she was taken aback. Her facial expression seems different from usual. It’s still hard to tell what is the difference, but I’m getting better at recognizing her expressions. I want to understand her better, I think it will be useful for me.
