She is Reading My Thoughts Again Today - Chapter 6
Reading Day
Although today is my library duty day, but there are no visitors in the library. So, today is a good day for reading.
“What book would you recommend?”
Well, it should have been a great day for reading.
A sudden voice took my eyes off from the words that I was reading. As expected, she was standing there right in front of me. I reluctantly get up from my seat because of the expectant look in her eyes and the topic of the conversation.
I think having an interest in reading books is a good thing. At our ages, reading is considered a strange thing to do, so just having the will to read is a really wonderful thing.
“Thank you.”
“So, how often do you read?”
“I rarely read. I usually just read textbooks.”
“So, what’s your favourite type of storytelling?”
“Nothing in particular.”
“Do you have a particular sentence you have trouble reading?”
“No, I don’t have that either. If I had to say, I’m not very good at reading traditional Japanese texts.”
“I don’t think it’s a good idea to immediately recommend traditional Japanese literatures.”
People who is a fan of it will like it, but I’m not a fan of it myself. So, I only read traditional Japanese literatures when I’m studying.
“Is that book interesting?”
Suddenly her gaze fell on the book I was holding. I lifted the cover of the book so that she could see it.
“I’m still reading it, but it’s really interesting.”
“Hmm, what’s the story about?”
“It’s about a murderer who breaks into a home of a civilian. The murderer’s character is quite fascinating.”
“A red coat, winter gym clothes, and a mask? He is really suspicious.”
“Well, he is a murderer after all, so he is more than suspicious.”
The book itself is thin, its definitely an interesting book, and the story is pretty easy to understand, so it must be an easy book to read. As I recall, there was another copy of the same book on the shelf.
I got up to search the copy of the book on the shelf, then I took the book and handed it to her.
“Are you interested in this one?”
She flipped through the book to check it at a glance, then she nods her head.
“Yeah, I’ll read this one.”
I was relieved to hear those words. If I had to talk about the book, I would have had to speak passionately about it.
“let’s talk about it sometime.”
“I don’t think I can talk about it. I’ll get too excited when I talk about it. Do you have your student ID card with you?”
“I have it with me, what are you going to do with it?”
“I’ll use it for you to lend this book. Let me borrow it for a second.”
I used a scanner to read the barcode on her student ID card and the computer showed her student data. Then the computer showed a date to return the book that she borrowed.
“You can use this barcode to do that?”
I was immensely surprised by her words as she looked at the barcode at her student ID curiously. No way.
“I thought it was explained to you when you first enrolled.”
“I don’t remember it was explained to me.”
“…do you know any other student who are as clueless as you?”
“I’m sure there are quite a few.”
An idea flashed into my mind.
“Do you think people will come to the library if they knew the library had a use for barcodes?”
“I think I will say, ‘Wow, that’s a great idea!’”
She said it in a high-pitched voice that she has never done before, it was too funny that I laughed at her voice.
No one came to the library; it was really peaceful. It was a good day for reading.
