She is Reading My Thoughts Again Today - Chapter 52
Sharing Day
When he is right in front of Kisaragi, a voice calls out to him from behind Kisaragi.
“Hoshikawa!? It’s been a while!”
He withdraws his outstretched arms at the sound of a familiar voice.
“Ahh, it’s been a while.”
With a relatively bright smile, he turns his attention to the owner of the voice. By the time I finally reached the school gate, the conversation had changed into a normal conversation. The person who approached him seemed to be one of the students who just finished their club activities. Apparently, the loud and cheerful voice of theirs is enough to attract the attention of those around them.
“Wow, you really are back!”
“Is he the handsome transfer student I’ve heard so much about lately!?”
In no time, a crowd of people began to gather around him. A sensible person would pull the crowd into a bigger area considering the students going home. The look he gave Kisaragi which I only seen for a brief moment, was very wistful.
“What was that?”
“…I don’t know.”
I don’t even want to know about it.
“Hokuto-san, are you okay?”
She asked me with a stronger tone than usual and a concerned expression on her face.
“Ahh, yeah.”
“Did he say anything to you?”
“He said he finally can face Kisaragi now.”
Before I could finish my words, her face darkened.
“I knew it.”
I should be the one who worries about her, but the words just won’t come out. Perhaps concerned about Kisaragi’s anxiety, Kosaka took Kisaragi’s hand.
“Okay then! Let’s go out and eat somewhere, Hokuto-kun’s treat!”
With an extremely cheerful tone and expression, she said so. No, she rather announced it. Kisaragi probably didn’t expect her to say that. She alternately stares at her hand and Kosaka’s face in surprise.
“What do you mean by my treat?”
“You’re the one who brought the trouble. So, you’re going to treat us. Then, let’s go! Just a regular fast-food restaurant is fine.”
“No, that’s not fine!”
“What do you think Nao-chan?”
“Yeah, I agree.”
“Well, it’s settled then!”
Even though Kisaragi is puzzled, I’m relieved to see Kisaragi smile back at Kosaka’s bright expression. Although I’m concered that Kisaragi seems to be easily influenced, I’m quite impressed that Kisaragi befriended someone of the same gender and age as her.
With that in mind, I felt uncomfortable ignoring Kosaka’s request.
“All right fine, make sure to let your parents know.”
“Yeah.”
Kosaka called her parents while Kisaragi types a message. Then, Kisaragi sent a message to her mother. After confirming her reply, she tucked her smartphone into her pocket.
“…anyway, why are you two together?”
“We shared a tangerine together, right?”
“Yeah, yeah.”
Kisaragi’s averted eyes proved that they are lying. But why does she look so happy?
