She is Reading My Thoughts Again Today - Chapter 51
The Miracle on August 30th
I thought of him as a prince not only because of his characteristics. His face is so beautiful that I felt comfortable calling him a prince. In my mind, I imagine Kisaragi and him standing next to each other. Then as soon as they are standing next to each other, their school uniform will change into a dress and a suit as a prince and a princess should wear. With the addition of the blue-sky background and glowing effects, they are going to look like a scene out of a movie. …no, it’s just the opening scene of the game I’m playing. Ah, the game. I have to go home now.
“Well, I’ll get going now.”
I’m no longer useful to him, I’ve told him where Kisaragi is. But as soon as I’m about to walk my way back home, he stood in front of me.
“The streets have changed a lot since the last time I came here. Please take me to the school.”
“Huh?”
I’m not sure when is the last time he went here, but certainly there are several stores on this street that have moved or closed over the years. It doesn’t seem to change a lot for me who pass this street every day, but not for him.
“It can’t be helped then. I’ll take you to the school.”
I feel frustrated because I need to take him to school after walking this far. However, if this boy might become her prince, I should at least take him to the school.
Turn right.
As I walk down the road to school the second time today, I feel a strong gaze coming from behind instead of beside me. While trying to look at the person gazing at me, I realized that I don’t know his name even though he knows mine.
“By the way, what’s your name?”
I can’t think a good way to ask his name, so I just asked the question to the point.
“Hoshikawa Yuma.”
Although I sense a bit of sharpness in his voice, he answered my question surprisingly quickly. Hoshikawa Yuma. I don’t even think to ask him about the kanji, I just assume that it is written in cool kanjis. Even his name is cool? I thought and look towards him with jealousy. He seems to noticed my gaze and smiled wryly. ‘I’m used of getting that kind of looks.’ I’m sure he wants to tell me that. I averted my gaze and look forward.
“How do you know my name?”
“I know it from a friend of mine here who told me about Kisaragi-san’s situation. My friend told me when it was the first semester… It wasn’t even summer yet.”
Instead of the intimidating tone he used earlier, he replied to my question in the same soft, respectful tone he used when we first met. Although I’m sure we are in the same grade assuming from the pin badge on his uniform, it’s hard to know his personality because he is calling Kisaragi with honorifics.
“Then what is your relationship with this friend of yours?”
“We were classmates in middle school. I went the same school as Kisaragi-san in middle school.”
I see. So that means he enrolled into a different high school? Surprisingly it happened not a long time ago.
“Then, what did your friend say?”
“Kisaragi-san and… Usami-san are like friends, like lovers. Even though they have no special relationship, they are always together.”
Although I can feel his anger and hatred towards me in his every word by his tone of voice, but he explained it all the way through. I was taken aback by how poetic his expression is. Is that just how your friend thinks of us? I can’t help but to hope so.
“Hearing that, I compared it with my own imagination of Kisaragi-san, and I’ve come at a conclusion. You can inhibit Kisaragi-san’s ability to some extent, right?”
I nod at him to affirm his question.
“As soon as I understand the situation, I burst into tears of frustration. Because at that time, I haven’t found a way to inhibit Kisaragi-san’s ability yet.”
“…yet?”
So that means he didn’t have the ability to inhibit Kisaragi’s ability then. Even after this short conversation I had with him, I can tell that his feelings toward Kisaragi are not extraordinary. That means if he still hasn’t found out the way to inhibit Kisaragi’s ability, he wouldn’t have come back to meet her.
“Yeah, I was so frustrated that I couldn’t inhibit Kisaragi-san’s ability then. I don’t know if it was because of my frustration or what, but I finally able to inhibit Kisaragi-san’s ability on the 30th of August. I still can vividly remember that day.”
But he said that he learned a way to inhibit Kisaragi’s ability. So that means he was originally unable to inhibit Kisaragi’s ability. Was he trying to learn it because he couldn’t do it?
“How do you inhibit Kisaragi’s ability? Do you wear it or what?”
“I can’t tell you because it is a secret technology.”
“…perhaps, you’ve been somewhere else all this time for Kisaragi?”
“That’s right. Otherwise, I would stay by her side to make sure she won’t get any bad bugs.”
He told me so with a light laugh, but as expected, his eyes aren’t smiling at all. He is the bad bug. Eyes talk louder than words.
His feelings for Kisaragi are truly from the bottom of his heart, but his feelings for Kisaragi are too heavy.
Of course, for what else did he learn the ability to pinpoint someone’s exact location. Did he really find a way to inhibit Kisaragi’s ability? Fears and worries started to appear in my mind, but the most important thing is not to let him meet her. He is too evil and wicked to be called a prince. I should’ve realized this when the first time he shouted at me. …no, it would be impossible to know this much.
The school building is now in sight, there is no turning back. What should I do? Confused and unable to think of anything, I see a person coming out of the school gate. She waves her hands and I realized it’s Kosaka. She is talking to her friend behind her as she walks towards us. I thought that she is making fun of me with her friend, but the person who appears behind her, is Nao Kisaragi. Kisaragi’s gaze is directed towards me, but as soon as she moved her gaze to the person behind me, her gaze faintly shook.
Kisaragi looks blatantly disgusted as she mumbled something. It is unusual for her to show her expression so clearly to the extent that everyone can tell she feels really disgusted at him.
“Kisaragi-san!”
I don’t have the sudden power and speed to stop him when he starts running at Kisaragi!
