She is Reading My Thoughts Again Today - Chapter 41
Umbrella Day
“Hokuto-san.”
“What is it?”
“Can you hear me?”
“Yeah, I can hear you loud and clear.”
“I’ll keep saying it over and over again, because although my voice is heard, you don’t seem to get it. Please pull your umbrella closer to yourself.”
“Okay then.”
“Your shoulder is wet because you hold it far away from yourself. I don’t mind if I get wet, but I don’t want Hokuto-san who owns the umbrella gets wet. If you insist on continuing this situation, I’ll run back home.”
“You’ll catch a cold if you run back home.”
“If you keep getting wet, Hokuto-san will catch a cold.”
“I’ll be worried if you catch a cold.”
“I don’t want Hokuto-san to catch a cold as well. So please keep yourself from getting wet.”
“I’ll try.”
“Can you see your left shoulder?”
“Yeah, I can.”
“Do you see how wet it is?”
“You must be imagining it.”
“You are really stubborn. I’m not reading your thoughts right now, but are you feeling very uncomfortable to share your umbrella with me?”
“Oh, it’s Hokuto and Nao-chan. Are you guys going home?”
“Ah, it’s Mikinori. It’s unusual to see you to walk home.”
“It’s raining today, so I’m walking back home.”
“Ahh, I see. It must be tough to ride a bicycle in the rain.”
“That’s right. By the way Nao-chan, did you forget your umbrella?”
“Yeah, this morning was really sunny so I didn’t think it’s going to rain.”
“It was indeed really bright this morning. I’ll lend you my umbrella if you want.”
“Oh yes please.”
“Then here you go. You can return it anytime. If you find it difficult to come to my class, you can just give it to Hokuto.”
“Thank you. Hokuto-san, I feel bad because it’s your umbrella and you’re holding it so far away from you.”
“That’s just how Hokuto is.”
“Yeah, that’s just how he is.”
“Shut up.”
She slowly opens up the umbrella that she borrowed from Mikinori and walks out from mine. My umbrella is for one person so it’s really cramped when I share it with Kisaragi. Because I naturally walk faster than them, I walk in front of them while they are talking to each other behind me. I can’t really hear what they’re talking about over the sound of the rain, but I occasionally hear a few words of ‘ho’, ‘ku’, and ‘to’. But they’re just probably talking about something else and I only hear that part of the conversation. I’m sure they are talking about something else. They must be.
“If you feel uncomfortable sharing an umbrella with me then you shouldn’t do it…”
I thought the words that came out of my mouth sounds ridiculous. I can’t believe I would say something like that knowing you can’t read my thoughts from back there. What am I thinking after all?
