- She is Reading My Thoughts Again Today
- Chapter 32 - I Don’t Want to Think About It.
I Don’t Want to Think About It.
Mikinori just finished his coke when I finished a part of my story. He went to the drink bar and came back with a second coke in his hand, he puts the glass of coke on the table roughly.
“So?”
His voice sounds really unpleasant.
“Then she met Kazumi Yano who was carrying a bunch of water yo-yos, and Kisaragi took some of them.”
“That’s not what I’m asking about.”
I really thought he was asking about that, there is nothing else I can talk about anyway.
“What about the fireworks?”
“It was really beautiful. But I don’t think I would’ve gone out of my way to see them in the heat like that.”
Mikinori lets out a long, deep sigh. He is completely taken aback. I couldn’t help but to wonder how could he sigh that long. He downed his Coke in one gulp and went to pour another.
“While I was busy with my manuscripts and assignments, you were enjoying your youth?”
“Enjoying my youth?”
I understand the word ‘youth’ and the word ‘enjoy’. But when they are combined, I don’t have any idea what they mean.
“You didn’t notice?”
“Nope.”
“I knew it, at school, you are with Nao-chan almost all the time, right? Don’t you think it’s a little strange for you and Nao-chan to be together all the time?”
He spoke those words as if they were a curse. I don’t deny that we are always together, and I know it is a little strange to some degree. But I just don’t feel like leaving her, I also wonder to myself why. Well, I don’t want to know about it and I don’t want to think about it.
“Well I mean…”
“Yeah, yeah, I get it! This anger has nowhere else to go!”
“What are you angry about?”
“That’s the point! You’ll be paying the bill this time!”
“No, why should I?”
He didn’t listen to what I said and opened the menu again.
“You…”
“Excuse me!”
He called the waiter and ordered French fries, grilled porkchops, and a strawberry parfait. I ordered a cheesecake for myself. While he was enjoying the parfait that was brought to him, he seemed to calm down. His expression softened considerably.
“So, summer break is almost over.”
He easily dropped the resentful expression he had on his face earlier. His sudden change took my breath away.
“…I know.”
“Did you win at least once?”
I am sure he is talking about the swimming competition we talked about earlier.
“I had three rematches and I didn’t win a single one.”
Even though I secretly practiced alone for a few days after that, she always gets ahead of me at the very last minute.
“Nao-chan is ridiculously fast.”
“Ahh, I’d like to win at least once by the end of the year.”
I already checked and it seems that the public pool is open for swimming even during the winter. It’s impossible to win during the summer, but if I train as hard as I could, I think here would be still hope by the end of the year.
“…I’m surprised you’re that determined to win.”
“Yeah, I’m also surprised myself.”
That point certainly sounds youthful to me.
