She is Reading My Thoughts Again Today - Chapter 14
The Worst Day
“Let’s talk about a what if situation.”
“What?”
She started to cross her legs and interlace her fingers. For some reason she has a melancholy expression on her face. Her pose was really elegant, the evening sun shining through the window made her beautiful black hair shine. It was a very beautiful sight.
I couldn’t help but think that it would have been perfect if she hadn’t spoken.
She knew about it; she seems irritated with my thoughts. Her eyebrows began to quiver.
“Sorry, never mind, carry on.”
“I am truly unwilling to do so, but I will continue.”
She clears her throat.
“What if everyone except Hokuto-san is hiding the fact that they have the same ability as I do?”
She may not be aware that she is talking about something that makes zero sense, but she is serious about it.
“What do you think?”
It’s been a long time since I see her this serious.
“I think that would suck.”
“Why?”
“Because in the current situation, it’s you who will suffer from it.”
Her expression instantly drops and she leans back in her chair stretching her arms. She let out a sigh and shook her head.
“How can you respond so badly to a hypothetical question?”
Maybe it was because of the atmosphere.
“I mean, what kind of response were you expecting?”
“I’m really afraid of backstabbers, I really hate them. I look down on them who does that kind of things.”
“Are you afraid that someday I might backstab you?”
“No, not at all.”
“That’s good to hear.”
“I’m in the worst possible position.”
I can’t see her face as she turns over.
“It’s pretty hard to be avoided by the whole school because of my ability.”
“Well, that’s a fact.”
Slowly, she straightened her body by stretching her hips and continued our conversation. Her face was relatively fresh.
“I can read minds. The people around me are aware of this fact. But it doesn’t mean that there are no others like me. There must be other people in this world who have abilities just like me.”
She took a deep breath.
“So, I don’t think that I’m alone.”
What she said is a fact. There are a few people in this world who have abilities beyond common sense. It has been recorded in history that there are people who has the ability to hear divine revelations. So, it is not that surprising if there are several people who can read other people’s thoughts just like her.
“Perhaps you found someone else like you?”
As soon as I ask her that question, her eyes opened wide as if something had happened to her. She seemed to be thinking about it for some moment, then she started to talk about it.
“How about we create a simulation game for classmates who can read other people’s minds, seniors who can talk to ghosts, juniors who can talk to animals, et cetera, et cetera.”
“Nope. I can’t do that. It’s Impossible.”
I have my hands full with just my classmates.
“Think of it as a work of art, I think people will love it.”
“At least I’m not buying it.”
“I think it would be nice to be able to talk to a machine.”
“No, it won’t.”
Where is her serious atmosphere from before? She is happily listing various abilities that people may have, she is far from the worst situation possible.
