Chapter 39: The Blood Queen’s True Identity

After I finished taking a shower, Sanae-san guided me to her late husband’s room.

Staying in their house for the second time felt a bit strange.

I was lying down on the bed, gazing up at the ceiling. 

……Ah… I knew it. I can’t calm down…”

I muttered to myself. 

There’s no way I can go to sleep. RIght now, there are four other people outside the room, including my little sister. Actually… Isn’t the male-to-female ratio a bit unbalanced?? 

I turned on the lamp and looked at the room. The room was neatly arranged and it was quite spacious. It should be around 15 m² at least.

“Hm?”

When I glanced at the table, I noticed there was a photo frame there. 

Getting off the bed, I walked towards the table to look at the photo inside the frame. It was a family photo. There were four people in that picture. 

“The three of them still look beautiful even in the past.”

I said as I admired the beauty of the female in the Tsutsuji family. Then, I noticed another figure. It was the figure of a man standing next to Sanae-san. The man was smiling in the photo.

He was so handsome that it wouldn’t be weird for him to be a model or a movie star. His blonde hair and striking features made him look like one of those European noblemen. His body looked well-toned too. I could tell this man must be very strong and… His clear red eyes. His eyes looked so sharp and vivid that I almost thought the photo was alive, not a mere photo. 

Blonde hair, good looking face, red eyes…. One particular woman naturally came to my mind. 

The Blood Queen. 

“Oi, the heck…? What am I thinking?”

I tried to deny it by saying it out loud but deep inside of my mind, there was a part of me that was still comparing the similarity of this man’s face and the Blood Queen’s. It didn’t take long before this part of me came to one possible conclusion. 

Two hours had passed since Rie, Yuri-nee and Nana tried to enter this room without permission. Fortunately, they were dressed in pajamas. Of course, I kicked them all out and now, all three of them were sleeping in Yuri-nee’s room. 

Still unable to fall asleep, I got up and headed to the living room. It was around 23:00 but I could sense someone’s presence in the room. The presence was coming from the balcony. 

I slowly walked to the balcony and there, through the window, I could see the figure of a woman. The woman was wearing shorts and a t-shirt. Although the outfit itself was simple, but since the person wearing it was Sanae-san, the outfit looked like something out of an expensive boutique. 

Her slender but long ivory-white legs, her perfect figure and her hazelnut hair swaying against the night wind… Everything about her was beautiful. I could even smell something sweet from where I was standing. It must be Sanae-san’s scent. 

The next thing I knew, I already found myself opening the door to the balcony. 

Sanae-san flinched and quickly turned around as I entered the balcony. 

“Oh, it’s you, Yusuke…”

The moment she saw my face, Sanae-san put her hands on her breast and sighed in relief. But… I could still feel a hint of anxiety in her expression.

I walked to stand beside Sanae-san. 

“Is there something bothering you?”

“Huh?”

Sanae-san widened her eyes in surprise. The confusion was visible on her face. 

“Why… Why do you ask that?”

Sanae-san gazed at me for a few seconds with her mouth slightly open. She seemed genuinely surprised. 

I leaned against the railing, trying to appear nonchalant.

“It’s just… There’s something on your mind, right?”

“….”

Once again, Sanae-san only stared at me without saying anything. 

Still feeling curious, I sneaked a glance at her but she still remained frozen on the spot. 

However… Gradually, she started to relax. Her cheeks loosened into a smile and she slowly leaned her arm against mine, inching closer to me. 

“Sa-Sanae-san…?”

“So you knew…”

“…..”

“I knew it. I can’t hide myself when I’m in front of Yusuke…. I always show my true self to you… Perhaps, this is a sign that I’m getting weaker?”

Sanae-san sounded upset. 

Sanae-san is a popular movie actress. A wonderful mother who raises her two children all by herself. However, before she’s a mother, she’s also a woman. I understand her feelings because I also raise Rie on my own. She’s carrying a lot on her shoulders. 

I wrapped my right arm around Sanae-san’s back and pulled her closer to me. 

“Oh!”

She let out a startled cry but it didn’t take long before she relaxed and surrendered herself completely to me. Just like with Nana, Sanae-san also showed no sign of resistance. 

Even though I was merely trying to comfort her, but seeing her submissive attitude stirred something primal in my male heart.

Oh? She’s finally going to talk? I wonder what she’s troubled about. Whatever it is, I will do my best to help her resolve it.  

I decided in my mind and then, I let Sanae-san go. She cast a dejected look on my body, as if she was reluctant to part with me before finally, she wore a serious expression again. 

“It’s about the Blood Queen…”

“Her name is Ranko Tsutsuji and she’s the younger sister of my late husband.”
