Rune Troopers: Self-Defense Forces Adventure - Chapter 3: Shots Fired (Part 6)
Carda was on her way to the courtyard, clearing out the Imperial troops who had invaded the castle. Half of the soldiers she was commanding were her own men, but the other half were a mixture of the Castle Guards and Royal troops.
Their skill levels varied, and they were being worn down to the point of falling on their blades against the mighty Black Knights of the Filborg Succession Empire. By the time they managed to reach the courtyard, nearly 30% of their men had been killed by the enemy.
A gloomy feeling of foreboding gripped Carda’s heart.
This was the rate of loss for an indoor battle in which they are outnumbered. If the troops were to defend themselves in an all out battle, they would have to deal with those Black Dragons and Ice Dragons as well.
According to the messenger’s report, the garrison on the city walls was already in a state of destruction. At that point, the battle was clearly against them. The walls were useless. And, although it was hard to imagine, they did not possess the weapons, warriors, or even magic to defeat the Dragon.
It seemed impossible to repel such a large number of Dragon Knights. It seemed, and it should have been. That was, until they arrived at the courtyard and witnessed the scene.
There was that unreliable man who called himself Kuze and claimed to have arrived from another world. Carda scoffed at the hideous sight in front of her.
His men were clutching him around the waist as if they were trying to stop him. And Kuze was pointing something like a thick tube at the oncoming Black Dragon.
Had he lost his mind before the roar of the Black Dragon? But the next moment, it happened. The Black Dragon exploded and scattered in tremendous flames.
“Ah…!” Carda did not immediately understand what had happened in front of her.
The Black Dragon was slain with a single blow.
By that unreliable guy Kuze? How?
When she thought she saw a flash of light from that thick tube-like thing he carried on his shoulder, the Black Dragon exploded.
Explosive magic? It must be.
That Kuze man was apparently a High-Ranking Magic Warrior. The strange clothes and the strange staff-like weapon made sense.
A magical warrior from another world.
Yes, they were–
“Rune Troopers…!” Carda said aloud with trembling lips.
“Situation in control! Chief Nakamura! Take about three men and go rescue the helicopter pilot!” The hustle and bustle of their shouts did not go unheard by Carda.
She was convinced.
Why was Her Majesty Hamiea so obsessed with them?
“This battle…” Carda muttered quietly.
“I still don’t know what will happen.”
A small change was about to occur on the battlefield of another world.
