Returned home early, saw my wife embracing another man - Chapter 8- Truth-2
Fujiwara Reiji, the man I blamed for being the murderer of my mother.
My mother died when I was in college first year.
She was returning home from the market when suddenly a construction beam fell on her.
She died before reaching the hospital. Every time I remember that day, my mother taking her last breath before me, I feel my heart turning heavy and an unspeakable emotion assaults me.
She was my last remaining family member and someone whom I adored dearly.
But when she needed me, I wasn’t there with her.
I was a hot-blooded young man at that time, so I wanted to take revenge on the company that caused me this grief.
I decided to take the help of the law and sue the company for my loss.
I was blinded by rage and the only name that kept repeating in my head was Fujiawara Reiji.
It was his construction company that took my mother away; I held him guilty.
There was no one who stopped me since barely anyone cared about what I did. And even if someone had tried to stop me, I would have considered them as my enemy.
I filed a case against Fujiwara Reiji, and the same day, I was invited by the man himself.
As I mentioned, I was hot-blooded and quite enraged, so I arrived at his office with my fists clenched and ready to fight if things came down to it.
However, in the office, he alone was present and very calmly tried to comfort me. He said he was sorry for my loss and wanted to help me with compensation.
He told me that filing a case against him would cause him nothing since the blame wouldn’t fall directly on Reiji rather on the supervisor in charge of that building.
A few days later, I realized what he was saying was true. The law doesn’t work based on impulse and emotions. But at that time, I wasn’t ready to listen. And when I saw him taking out a cheque, saying he wanted to compensate me, I said something really mean.
Like…really mean.
“How about I smash your wife’s skull against a concrete pipe—leave her twitching in her own blood—and then toss you a bit of cash as compensation? Fair trade, right?”
He…lost his cool.
After that, I faintly remember swinging my arms and trying to hit him back but Fujiwara Reiji was a tall and broad man who easily whooped my ass and then transported me to the hospital.
At that time, I used to chat with my only online friend a lot. Naturally, I told her everything that had been happening in my life and highlighted my hatred towards Reiji again and again.
Recalling back at those messages, I could understand why Asuka never revealed that she was actually…Fujiwara Reiji’s daughter.
But, “…you declared yourself as an orphan…just why?” Despite having parents, she said she didn’t have anyone. I was baffled at why she got that far?
“Because I didn’t want to lose you.” Asuka said while crying, “I knew… the moment I tell you whose blood ran in my veins, you will detach yourself from me. I told my mother about it and she suggested hiding things from you. ”
“…”
I was rendered speechless.
Now that I think about it, it was actually weird why Asuka seemed…alien. She didn’t have a passport, she didn’t have any social media handles, and more so, she said she lost her Individual Number Card.
I never suspected anything since I trusted her blindly.
But it always seemed odd. As if she had appeared out of nowhere to marry me.
With her gaze still lowered, Asuka said, “Two days ago, Mom had a heart attack, and upon receiving the news, I was in a panic. When Sato-nii came, he looked broken since we have always seen her mother as a very strong pillar in our lives. That’s why, I was comforting him when you saw me. ”
“…” Now that I think about it, the man’s back was trembling. At that time, I wasn’t very focused on that.
“We don’t have any family members in Japan, so we have been taking care of her in the hospital, that’s why I couldn’t return home that night.”
She confessed.
“…” I still couldn’t say anything.
I, by no means, expected this.
Like…my wife being the daughter of one of the business giants? Nope…not in my wildest dreams.
Raising her eyes, she said, “I didn’t tell you about my family because I knew you hate them…but when I realized my lie was about to separate us anyway, I was left with no option.”
I exhaled a long sigh, “You are an idiot, Asuka to hide something so big from me. I once was a short-tempered fool, but in these two years, you should have known that I have moved on from that phase.”
“I am sorry…I-I just didn’t…I am sorry,…” She started to cry again, her body trembling.
Exhaling another breath, I approached her and knelt before the woman.
She looked at me with tears flowing down her eyes as she said, “I-I can never cheat on you… I-I love you…p-please believe in me…”
I wiped her tears first before collecting her in my arms, “Stop crying now…it’s okay, I understand. ”
Truth be told, my mind still hasn’t processed everything. But it was a relief to know that she didn’t betray me.

A/N:- Thanks for reading.

Honestly, that’s such a huge lie. If I were him, it would be nearly impossible for me to trust her ever again. She may not have cheated but she did betray him.
Agreed 100% – very similar to my comment from chapter 6. The fact that the mother encourages her to tell such a big lie is also concerning.
Well, at most this would be a “start from 0” type deal for me. At the moment when his mother died, I could see him rejecting her. But, its not her that killed his mother. She just hid her entire relation to the company that was responsible.
But, even if his worries about her cheating were relieved, his trust was betrayed, and she needs to earn it back. I will be disappointed if he doesn’t hold his ground on that point.
