Returned from Another World, Earth Turned Out to Be Quite the Fantasy Too. Also, Losing Heroines, Stop Looking This Way. - V4 Chapter 45
Chapter 45: “Going to Check Things Out, Right?” ①
Instead of heading straight home where Thor was waiting, Natsuki Yura had arranged to meet his childhood friend and best friend, Kazuto Miyahara, at a nearby park.
Also present were Miyako Minazuki and Leviako—who was actually Leviathan, one of the Seven Deadly Sins.
Natsuki had been concerned about Kazuto, but he didn’t overdo it with excessive worry, only sending a simple message. He knew that sometimes, being left alone was actually the most comforting thing.
On the other hand, the one who was deeply concerned was Amaterasu-Omikami, who was watching over Kazuto through Miyako.
Natsuki found it a bit odd. Sure, Kazuto had lost his older brother—but that brother had also tried to kill him. Was there really a need to feel so heartbroken over someone like that?
Then again, Natsuki had never had siblings, so he couldn’t quite imagine what it was like.
Apparently, Amaterasu had been agonizing over whether to use divine powers to check on Kazuto’s condition. But that would essentially be spying—which, even for a god, was crossing the line.
In the end, she had given in to temptation and tried to peek—only to be snapped back to her senses by a sharp slap from Elder Unkai.
Since then, she had been trying to suppress her worldly desires by focusing on something else—namely, dieting.
“So basically, you came to check on Kazuto in her place, huh?”
“Yes. Onee-chan was originally supposed to come along, but we figured that having a stranger show up might make Kazuto-kun more nervous. I was just going to invite you, Natsuki-kun, but then…”
“But then you ran into a weird demon instead.”
Miyako didn’t outright say yes, but the way she awkwardly averted her gaze practically confirmed it.
“What do you mean, weird demon?! Hmph! So mean!”
Leviako, who had been playing alone on the seesaw, pouted and puffed out his cheeks.
Admittedly, the way he pretended to be mad was cute, but by this point, it was getting more annoying than anything.
“—Tch. As expected of a streamer with over a million subscribers. If it were a girl acting this cutesy, it’d be obnoxious—but since it’s a trap, it somehow feels natural. No, more than that, the fact that he’s intentionally doing it makes it even better.”
“…You know, Miyako-san, you’ve changed a lot since we first met. Did I mess up when reconnecting you or something?”
“I’ve always been like this! I do regret my rude attitude back then, but I was under a lot of stress, okay?!”
Flustered, Miyako’s face turned slightly red as Natsuki called her out on her analysis of Leviako.
Back then, she had been so on edge that it felt like she saw everyone around her as an enemy. But now? Her attitude was noticeably more relaxed.
As a friend, Natsuki definitely preferred her this way.
“Yo, Natsuki-kun! Sorry to keep you waiting!”
As they talked, a student in a school uniform—Kazuto Miyahara—arrived at the park.
“Yo.”
“Yeah.”
Without saying much, Natsuki and Kazuto bumped fists.
“Huh? Minazuki-san?”
“Hello. Please, call me Miyako. My condolences regarding your brother.”
“Yeah. Thanks.”
“My deepest condooolences~?”
“Thank you—wait, huh?! Who are you?!”
Miyako gave a polite bow as she expressed her condolences, while Leviathan—raising a casual hand—threw out an awkward-sounding phrase he clearly wasn’t used to.
Kazuto nodded in thanks to Miyako, then instinctively turned to bow toward Leviathan—only to suddenly realize there was a complete stranger here.
His face twisted in shock.
To make things even more surreal, Leviathan was still bouncing up and down on the seesaw all by himself.
Yeah—his reaction of “Who the hell is this?!” was completely justified.
“Fwahahaha! Since you have asked, I shall answer! I am no mere demon—I am a high-ranking executive of the Underworld! A supreme officer, likely the strongest among the Four Heavenly Kings! The one who governs Envy among the Seven Deadly Sins! I am… Le! Vi! A! Than!”
“…That’s a lot to take in.”
“And despite looking like an insanely cute girl—I’m actually a trap! A boy!”
“What… did you say?! A tiny, cutesy, mischievous-looking girl… but actually a trap who talks like a boy?! Impossible!”
Just like Natsuki had before him, Kazuto’s excitement skyrocketed upon encountering a trap in real life.
〜〜Afterword〜〜
Amaterasu: “—Tch.”
Unkai: “Is something wrong, Amaterasu-sama?”
Amaterasu: “I drank too much protein, and now my tummy is in pain. I need a break.”
Unkai: “You do realize that whenever you lie, you have a habit of pinching the fat on your stomach, yes?”
Amaterasu: “What did you say?!”
