Returned from Another World, Earth Turned Out to Be Quite the Fantasy Too. Also, Losing Heroines, Stop Looking This Way. - V4 Chapter 39
Chapter 39: “Isn’t This Just Depressing?”
“—Onii-chan!”
“Ugh.”
Bursting onto the rooftop was Anzu Ayakawa, the daughter of Natsuki’s mother Haruko’s former husband.
After returning from the other world, Natsuki had completely forgotten about Anzu.
But thanks to her constantly being a pain, she had managed to reintroduce herself into his memory.
That said—until he actually saw her, he had completely erased her existence from his mind.
To put it simply, he didn’t care.
He had figured that, eventually, she’d come looking for him since he hadn’t been showing up to school. But of all times for that to happen—why now?!
“I’ve been looking for you, onii-cha—Ah! Tsukuyomi-sensei. And, um…”
Anzu had clearly known that Natsuki was on the rooftop.
But she definitely hadn’t expected to find Tsukuyomi and Leviathan with him.
Of course, there was no way Anzu could recognize who or what Leviathan actually was.
To her, it must have looked like some strange scene—Natsuki hanging out with a mysterious beauty and a teacher.
“—Anzu Ayakawa-san, correct? If you have urgent business, please don’t mind us and go ahead with your conversation.”
Seeing Natsuki’s deeply annoyed expression, Tsukuyomi stepped in to handle Anzu instead.
With a pleasant smile and a polite “Go ahead,” he maintained a friendly demeanor—
But the underlying message was clear: “If you don’t have anything important to say, please leave.”
As a teacher, that might not have been the most appropriate response.
However, knowing the disastrous relationship between Natsuki and Anzu, Tsukuyomi had already decided that any conversation between them would inevitably go south.
Normally, a student would take the hint and back off when a teacher was present.
But Anzu wasn’t normal.
“Then, I’ll just talk for a bit.”
“……Oh?”
Even Tsukuyomi raised an eyebrow at that unexpected response.
“You know, onii-chan—he’s dead now.”
“……And?”
If he ignored her, she’d just throw a tantrum.
So he decided to give a half-hearted reply.
Internally, though, he was exhausted.
A few days ago, Kazuto had already scolded Anzu about this whole mess.
And yet—she clearly hadn’t learned a damn thing.
“Like I told you before, Anzu was deceived, you know? The bad guy’s dead now, so we can go back to how things were, right?”
Natsuki felt sorry for Anzu.
He already knew that Yuto had the power to charm others.
But he also knew that it wasn’t impossible to resist.
At this point, he had no intention of blaming anyone or shifting all responsibility onto Yuto. He understood that Anzu was also a victim.
However—
Falling for Yuto and spewing hateful words at his mother and him, ultimately destroying their family, were two entirely different things.
At this point, he wasn’t even sure if that had been because of Yuto’s charm or not.
But looking at how self-centered she still was now, he was convinced their family would have fallen apart sooner or later, regardless.
“Honestly, I have no intention of ever talking to you again. But I’ll make an exception—just this once—to commemorate Yuto Miyahara’s death. This is the last time. I will never forgive you for making my mom cry. I will never forgive you for making Seiji-san—such a good man—suffer.”
“…But—”
“I don’t need an apology. I don’t want one. I just don’t want anything to do with a disgusting woman like you. So please—stay away from me, my mom, and my friends. And instead of clinging to something that’s already gone, why don’t you start appreciating the father you still have? That’s all I have to say.”
Anzu said nothing.
But with tears welling in her eyes, she glared at Natsuki—
Then turned her back to him and vanished from the rooftop.
“Oh wow. Girls these days are so selfish, huh? That one—she doesn’t actually like Natsuki-kyun or anything. She’s just oddly fixated on you. More like, she just wants to control you, you know?”
“…I have my own personal thoughts on the matter, but as a teacher, I’ll say this—every girl who got involved with Yuto Miyahara ended up twisted in some way. Whether they were always like that or if he was the cause, I can’t say. But the best thing to do is stay away from them altogether.”
With Leviathan and Tsukuyomi backing him up, Natsuki gazed up at the perfectly clear sky—
And let out the only words that could sum up his mood.
“Ah, shit. This is depressing.”
~~Afterword~~
The “Stop looking this way” policy is still in full effect!
I’d be happy if you all keep an eye on what happens to her from here.
It’s almost time for her to head home.
