Returned from Another World, Earth Turned Out to Be Quite the Fantasy Too. Also, Losing Heroines, Stop Looking This Way. - V4 Chapter 24
Chapter 24: “Aren’t They Running a Bit Late?”
After seeing Natsuki and his group off, Nurarihyon and the yokai of Tono gathered together.
“Nacchan, Sen-chan, Yuu-chan just left, but the whole village already feels a lot quieter.”
“That’s true, nya. It seemed like Yusuke would’ve had fun blending into human society, but in the end, nothing beats taking it easy here, nya.”
“No doubt about it.”
Though Natsuki’s group was gone, the yokai continued their rowdy celebration.
Chances were, it would last until morning.
Yokai had incredibly long lifespans, and their sense of time was pretty lax.
If things kept going, the party might not even end until they got bored of it.
“By the way, nya… was it really okay to leave those Kyoto guys alone?”
“Huh? The Abe Clan said they wouldn’t interfere anymore. They’re a family that sticks to their word, so there’s no reason to worry.”
“No, nya. I meant Shuten Doji’s side. If you just give the word, even the ones hiding in the mountains—or the rest of the yokai—would be more than happy to fight, nya.”
“Oh, that lot. Well, Shuten Doji’s nowhere near as strong as he used to be… but whatever.”
“Nyaa?”
“I’m just sick and tired of losing comrades, that’s all.”
“…Yeah, I get that, nya.”
At his core, Nurarihyon simply didn’t want to lose his comrades.
That was why he reached out to Natsuki in the first place—because of his overwhelming strength and the potential to protect his people.
But beyond that initial motive, he was genuinely glad they had met.
If it was Natsuki, he would never break his promise or bring harm to Tono.
And if something ever happened, he would surely come to their aid.
However, Nurarihyon had already decided—if Natsuki was ever in trouble, he himself would go to his side and offer his strength.
That was simply his way of repaying a debt.
“Alright, once Ittanmomen gets back, we’ll close up the barrier and reinforce it. Let’s gather up the sober ones and get to work, eh?”
“Nyaa!”
Just as Nurarihyon and Nekomata were about to turn their backs to the village entrance—
A bolt of lightning came crashing down from the sky.
“—Huh?”
Nurarihyon’s instincts flared as he swiftly drew his blade from thin air.
Nekomata extended her claws, growling low.
The drunken yokai, who had been partying just moments ago, instantly sobered up.
Gone was the lightheartedness they had shared with Natsuki’s group.
Now, the air was thick with hostility.
“Who goes there?”
From within the crackling lightning, a figure emerged.
A man wrapped in violet electricity.
Dressed in black leather armor, a jet-black cape billowing behind him, with long golden hair and an unkempt beard framing his chiseled features.
His ice-blue eyes crackled with bolts of thunder, radiating overwhelming power.
At that moment—
Every yokai understood.
This was no ordinary god.
This was one of the highest among the divine.
“I am Thor, son of Odin! Natsuki Yura is here, is he not? I demand to see him!”
“…He already left, though?”
“Huh?”
“Huh?”
“Huh?”
“Huh?”
“Nyaaaan.”
〜〜Afterword〜〜
Poor Thor, bad timing.
It’s going to take a little longer before he finally meets Natsuki.
